salaam alaykum

the wedding season has arrived in pakistan where brotehrs and sisters and coming from around the world to here, and other countries similar to it in culture, with the wedding vibes in the air.

my question is how is teh salafi wedding to be perfomed?

i need a detail account of what is fard or waajib for the wedding to be complete, and this is after agreeing to the person you wish to marry.

i need it in order of what needs to be done first, e.g. the dowery is this th first thing to be discussed and how much?

so a list of things that a fard or waajib to be made in to a simple list and how it it to be perfomed, would be most grateful to me barakalaahu feek. and then along with it its detail insha'Allah

oh and can someone answer if having nikah brotehr( nikah roor in pashtu) is from the sunnah ( someone who sits with you during the khutbah al haajah and i think he is supposed to be your witness)?

Assalaamu alaikum,

A better definition of what the brother has said:
quote:

oh and can someone answer if having "nikah brother"( nikah roor in pashtu) is from the sunnah ( someone who sits with you during the khutbah al haajah and i think he is supposed to be your witness)

Would be a Walee, but in the pushtoo culture the walee is taken from the groom's side (and very rarely from the bride's side), so he sits in the nikaah next to the groom and "gives her away" so to speak, and the groom accepts what he says, e.g. the amount of mahr, etc.

wa alaikum salaam wa rahmatullah brother Abu Yaqoob,

Before I got married, I tried to read as much authentic material as I could find on the subject.  So try to educate yourself as much as possible on this subject, bi'idnillah and avoid the many actions which have been introduced due to local customs, inshallah.  There were helpful articles on the known websites such as troid (sister's section has some good articles), spubs and therighteouspath etc...  The book "The Quest for Love and Mercy - Regulations for Marriage and Wedding in islaam" by Muhammad al-Jibali has some good information and is available on salafibookstore.com.  The links are:

The brothers at spubs posted the following regarding having the books of Muhammad al-Jibali, May Allah guide him:

"Disclaimer by Salafi Publications The contents of this book are considered to be sound and in accordance with the Qur'aan and Sunnah, therefore we have stocked it in our Bookstore. This however does not mean that we recommend the author, because it is possible that the author may be using the Qur'aan and Sunnah only to promte his deviation!
