Asalamualikum warahmutullah wabarakatu
i was wondering if any one knows what this group are upon. i am very confused... as many of the somali majority speak highly of this organisation. are they upon ahlul sunnah wajama ?
highly appreciated if any body responds with an answer to this question.

my brother in Islam. you talking about al shabaab i'll assume you are somalian and you know the somali language. anyway The manhaj of alshabab is the same as the manhaj of al Qai'da.
the salafi somali shuyookh talked about the issue in somalia. insha allah you can search for it in this website.

as-salaamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullaahi
From what I know and see is that al-Shabaab is a Takfiri group. My wife's mother listens alot to BBC Somali and has lots of relatives their and as is well known that they killed a Somali man in public because they said he took help from the Ethiopians (they claim this) and hence he is a kafir and they killed him.
Also, they have killed some English Teachers (westerns and the such) for no reason and other people for no reason.

Ahmed Godane, who is currently one of the leaders of this household (i.e. Shabaab), stated in a recorded message to Bin Laden :
