Shaykh Hamood at-Tuwayjiree refutes the claim of Shaykh Aboo Bakr al-Jazaa'iree that rallies, demonstrations, and protests have been specifically foretold in Islam by the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhe wa sallam)

JazakumAllaahu khairan!

Yaa Moosaa, do you have anything else from Shaykh Hamood at-Tuwayjiree رحمه الله that addresses the mistakes of Aboo Bakr al-Jazaa'iree concerning his ta?weel of the matters of the unseen and where he agreed with the jahmiyya in a issue?  Is this covered in Tanbeehaat 'alaa Risaalatayn?

Ibrahim (may Allaah bless you):

I apologize for the delay.

at-Tuwayjiree refuted his interpretation of the hadeeth: "Verily Allaah created Aadam upon his image" (Saheeh Muslim, others) which, according to some of the early scholars, is the position of the Jahmiyyah.

It is related that Imaam Ahmad said, "Whoever says that Allaah created Aadam upon Aadam's image is a jahmee."

And 'Abdul-Wahhaab al-Warraaq said, "Whoever does not say that Allaah created Aadam upon the image of Ar-Rahmaan is a jahmee."

Meaning that the Jahmiyyah assume from Aadam being created upon Allaah's image that this necessitates tash-beeh, that Aadam resembles Allaah (and Allaah's refuge is sought), and thus they explained the hadeeth to mean that Allaah created Aadam upon Aadam's own image. (*)

This is exactly the line of reasoning used by al-Jazaa'iree when he said:

"...The first (possible explanation of the hadeeth) is baatil (falsehood), since it is intellectually and Islaamically impossible: That Allaah has created Aadam upon His (Allaah's) Image, the Mighty and Majestic.  (This is false) since there is nothing like Allaah, and He is All-Seeing, All-Hearing, and nothing is like unto him in any way whatsoever..." (as quoted by at-Tuwayjiree on p.23 of Tanbeehaat)

at-Tuwayjiree replied:

"Verily, al-Jazaa'iree has committed a serious error here, as he has approved of the Jahmiyyah's position and taken it, and thus has opposed the position of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamaa'ah..." (Tanbeehaat, p.23)

at-Tuwayjiree mentioned that this is also supported by the explicit wording of some narrations of the hadeeth, that: "Allaah created Aadam upon the Image of Ar-Rahmaan."  [as-Sunnah of 'Abdullaah ibn Ahmad; ash-Sharee'ah of al-Aajurree; with authentic chains of narration]

In summary of this issue, at-Tuwayjiree stated:

"...And the narrations about the Attributes (of Allaah) [ie. in this case: that Allaah has a "soorah" (image)] are to be relayed as they have come, and it is not to be said about them, "How?" or "Why?"  Rather they are to be accepted and believed in and not reflected over or explained by other than their apparent meanings.  There is no falsehood in this hadeeth, nor anything impossible, intellectually or Islaamically, in it, as al-Jazaa'iree (may Allaah guide us and him) has mistakenly claimed.  Rather, what is baatil (falsehood) is rejecting an authentic hadeeth or interpreting it in a way that corresponds to the position of the Jahmiyyah and their false math-hab!" (Tanbeehaat, p.31)

May Allaah reward Shaykh Hamood at-Tuwayjiree for his clarification and have Mercy on him.

And Allaah knows best.
