As-salaamu alaykum,

Ive been searching the web and came across many sufi websites claiming he is alive bringing plenty of ahadiths "prooving this".

another of their claim is that you will meet him 3 times in ones life time.
and also other prophets have been mention to be in the same situation.

something was mentioned about the "river of immortality"

please can you help with any saheeh articles either supporting or refuting this claim. if anyone has heard of these claims and have good info please provide shukrun.

jazakallahumu khair

Al-hamdulillaah was-salaatu was-salaamu 'alaa Rasoolillaaah - To proceed:

Asslaamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu,

I hope the story below (taken from one of the most prominent books used by the Soofees) will show exactly what the likes of our brother ?Abu Yaqoob? is referring to, and I hope the clarification which follows on from it, will help.

STORY NO.9 (EPISODE)

Once one of the Abdal met Hazrat Khidr AS. And inquired from him whether he had ever met anyone among the saints whom he considered higher in rank than himself.  To this he replied: ?Yes, I have.? I was present once in the Masjid in Madina where I saw Hazrat Shaikh Abdur Razzak Rah. Dictating Hadith to his students.  On one side was a young man sitting with his head bent on his knees.  I went to him and addressed him thus: ?Do you not see the gathering listening to the words of Rasulullah sal-am.  Why do you not join them??

Without lifting up his head or turning in my direction the youth answered: ?Over there you see those who listen to Hadith from the mouth of Abdur Razzak, (Slave of the sustainer) While over here you see him who listens to Hadith directly from the Razak (Allaah)

Hazrat Khidr Rah, Said: ?If what you say is true then you should be able to tell me who I am.  Who am I??

He lifted up his head and said: ?If my intuition does not fail me then you are Hazrat Khidr Rah.?  Hazrat Khidr Rah. Said: ?From that I realised that among the saints of Allaah there are such who are so exalted in rank that  cannot recognise them.?

May Allaah be pleased with them and cause us all to benefit through them ?Ameen.

So that no one (From amongst the innovators) can accuse us of changing the context of the above story we have kept to the same format as found in the original book.

Even though many other corrupt ideas arise out of the above story, we will stick to the issue at hand

Clarification

__

A large number of scholars are of the view that Al-Khidr is still alive and did not die, and many reports have been narrated concerning that.  The suggestion that he is alive has opened the door to many myths and lies.  Many people claim that they have met Al-Khidr, that he gave them advice and commanded them to do things.  They narrated many strange stories concerning such things, reports which a sound mind would reject.

Some of the greatest scholars of hadith, such as Bukhari, ibn Dihyah, ibn Katheer and ibn Hajr al-?Asqallaani have sought to prove that these reports are da?eef (weak).  The strongest evidence to refute those who say that Al-Khidr is alive is the fact that there is no saheeh hadith to support this notion.  If he were alive, it would have been obligatory for him to come to the Messenger (صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ), to follow him and support him.  Allaah made a covenant with the Prophets from before that they would believe in Muhammad and support him if he came during their time:

 Aali Imran (3):81

And (remember) when Allâh took the Covenant of the Prophets, saying: "Take whatever I gave you from the Book and Hikmah (understanding of the Laws of Allâh, etc.), and afterwards there will come to you a Messenger (Muhammad (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam)) confirming what is with you; you must, then, believe in him and help him." Allâh said: "Do you agree (to it) and will you take up My Covenant (which I conclude with you)?" They said: "We agree." He said: "Then bear witness; and I am with you among the witnesses (for this)."

The Messenger (صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم) , said that if Moosa (Moses) had been alive, he would have had no choice but to follow him.  Ibraaheem al-Harbi asked Ahmad ibn Hanbal about the idea of Al-Khidr and Ilyaas still being alive, and whether they could still be seen and whether stories could be narrated from them.  Ahmed said, I think that all of these stories are coming from Shaytaan (satan). (Majmoo? al-Fataawa Shaykh al-Islam, 4/337).  Bukhari was asked about Al-Khidr and Ilyaas, are they among the living? He said, ?How could that be so when the Prophet (صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم) said, ? In one hundred  year?s time there will be no one left who is on the face of the earth now.? (Majmoo? al-Fataawa Shaykh al-Islam, 4/337).

A number of prominent scholars went to a great length to quote evidence which  disproves these myths, such as Ibn Katheer in Al-Bidaayah wan-Nihaayah (1/326); Shaykh Muhammad al-Ameen ash-Shanqeeti in Adwaa? al-Bayaan (4/184); Ibn Hajr al-?Asqallaani wrote an essay concerning that, entitled Az-Zahr an-Nadr fi Naba? al-Khidr, this is published in Majmoo?ah ar-Rasaa?il al-Muneeriyah (2/195)

The above clarifiaction was taken from the book ?The Messengers and the Messages in the Light of the Qur?an and Sunnah (Page 46 ? 47) ? Published by ?International Islamic Publishing House (IIPH)

Assalaamu 'alaykum,

This is a similar Question & Answer but relating to the issue of the Dajjaal. i hope it helps inshaAllaah.

Is the Dajjaal among us?

Written by/Said by Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-'Uthaymeen (Rahimahullaah)

Taken from Majmoo' Fataawa wa Rasa'il - Volume Two, Number 147
Translated by Editorial Staff at tazkiyah.org

Question: Is the Dajjaal currently present (amongst us)?
Answer: The Dajjaal is not currently present because the Messenger (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) addressed the people near the end of his lifetime and said: "At the end of one hundred years, there would remain no one on the face of the earth, from those who are upon it today." (1)
And this is news; news from the Messenger (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam). And lying does not enter him for he received wahee (divine guidance) and because the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) did not know about the ghaib (unseen matters) of this kind, but he (the Dajjaal) is not present, but Allaah will send him (the Dajjaal) when He wills.

1
Reported in Saheeh Muslim. Chapter entitled, "The Virtues of the Companions", #6160. 'Abdullah bin Umar reported that Allaah's Messenger (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) led us in 'Isha' prayer at the latter part of the night and when he had concluded it by salutations he stood up and said: Have you seen this night of yours? At the end of one hundred years after this none would survive on the surface of the earth (from amongst my Companions). Ibn Umar said: People were (not understanding) these words of the Messenger of Allaah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) which had been uttered pertaining to one hundred years. Allaah's Messenger (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) in fact meant (by these words) that on that day none from amongst those who had been living upon the earth (from amongst his Companions) would survive (after one hundred years) and that would be the end of this generation.
