The Wisdom Behind Seeking Refuge in Allaah From the Fitnah of the Dajjaal in All Times and Places

Excerpt: Shaykh al-Islaam ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullah) said in As-Sab'eeniyyah:
quote:
Since the Dajjaal's claim of Ruboobiyyah(Lordship and Divinity) is invalid and impossible by itself, the supernatural (events) that accompany him are in no way whatsoever proof of his honesty. Rather, it (the supernatural events) are a trial/test and fitnah. Allaah guides by it whom He wills and He leads astray by it whom He wills. As was the case with the calf (for the Children of Israeel; see 7:148-155), and likewise. However, the fitnah of the Dajjaal is a greater fitnah.

His fitnah is not limited to those present during his time. Rather, the essence and reality of his fitnah is: falsehood, which contradicts the Shari'ah and is accompanied by the supernatural. So whoever is influenced by some phenomenon to comply and affirm that which contradicts the Shari'ah, then that person has been afflicted by a portion of this fitnah. This has become epidemic - everywhere and throughout time. Yet, the fitnah of the Dajjaal, himself, is the greatest fitnah. So whoever Allaah saves from that fitnah will be saved from every lesser fitnah, whether he realizes it or not...

Subhanak Allaahuma wa bihamdika ash-hadu anlaa illaaha illa anta astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayk

If I said anything correct, then it is from Allaah (subhanahu wa taa'ala), and if I erred, then that is from me and shaytan.
