A Gathering of the People of the Sunnah at Dar al-Hadeeth as-Salafeeyah
Alhamdulillah, Allaah blessed us as Muslims at Dar al-Hadeeth as-Salafeeyah in Shihr, Yemen to gather together with our brothers from different callers, students of knowledge, and scholars on Juma'ah the 6th day of Shawwal 1430 (corresponding to the 25th of September, 2009).
The brothers gathered in the masjid and its courtyard for the conference while the sisters were able to listen to the conference within their homes on the FM radio station the masjid (Masjid Taqwa) broadcasts year round (with the regular classes held in the main masjid as well as broadcasting general lectures of the well known scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah, when there are no live classes being taught).
The gathering which was held in Masjid Taqwa had many who contributed beneficial lectures and reminders from the people with knowledge from within Yemen as well as outside of it. From the well known scholars of the Sunnah and Salafeeyah who spoke at this gathering by telephone were:

- Sheikh 'Abdullah Ibn 'Abdur-Raheem al-Bukhaaree, may Allaah preserve him, who is an assistant professor at the well known Salafee university, the Islamic University of Medina
- Sheikh 'Ubayd Ibn Sulaymaan al-Jaabaree, may Allaah preserve him, one of the well known scholars of this way of the Salaf, who spoke as well as afterwards answering our questions
- Sheikh Muhammad Ibn Abdul-Wahaab al-Wasaabee, may Allaah preserve him, one of the senior Salafee scholars and callers of Yemen
- Sheikh Zayd Ibn Haadee al-Madkhalee, may Allaah preserve him, one of well known scholars and defenders of this noble call
& Sheikh Rabee'a Ibn Haadee al-Madkhalee, may Allaah preserve him, from the senior scholars and the carrier of the flag of criticism and commendation for the sake of the religion in our age.

It was towards the end of the gathering that our father, Sheikh Rabee'a Ibn Haadee al-Madkhalee spoke to us by telephone. His statement is translated below:

In the Name of Allaah the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
All praise is due to Allaah, praise and salutations be upon the Messenger of Allaah, upon his household, his Companions, and all those who follow his guidance.
To proceed:
Indeed, I advise myself and my brothers with having the fear of Allaah, the Blessed, the Most High, and to remain conscious and observant of Him during all their actions and various situations. I also advise everyone to have true sincerity for Allaah in every statement and deed. And I advise everyone to adhere closely to the Book of Allaah, the Sunnah of His Messenger, may Allaah's praise and salutations be upon him, and the methodology and path of the Salaf, the first three esteemed generations of Islaam.
Additionally, I counsel them with seeking knowledge, and putting forth vigorous efforts in this; and that they distance themselves from trials and the causes of trials, and to put forth efforts to build their brotherhood, spreading brotherhood and the causes of the spreading of brotherhood among the Salafees throughout the entire world and specifically Yemen. I ask Allaah to reconcile and unite between the hearts, and to remove from us and from you every form of trial or misfortune. Indeed, our Lord is the One who hears supplications.
Praise and salutations be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his household, and Companions.

A few from the many benefits that the people of knowledge presented during the gathering:
- Blessing lies with holding fast and referring back to our recognized senior scholars, holding fast to them, referring to them and returning to them for the proper understanding of evidences and the principles of the religion in all of our affairs and differences.
- The requirement of brotherhood and cooperation upon goodness and the fear of Allaah between the people of the Sunnah in order to call to the Pure Sunnah, spread knowledge, and suppress every subtle and open form of shirk, falsehood, innovation, and hizbeeyah found among the Muslims.
- The importance of seeking knowledge and having taqwa, the fear of Allaah, in struggling to rectify our affairs and the affairs of those people we are responsible for.
We ask Allaah, The Most High, for steadfastness and to make us firm upon His preserved religion, to assist us in purifying our souls and struggling to remove our faults and shortcomings, and to guide us to everything He loves and is pleased with, and to enter us into His Jannah.
