as-salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu:

I have a question and I hope you're able to help me with sound proof inshaAllah. My question is:

In terms of receiving greater reward, is it better for a woman to pray taraweeh at home alone in her bedroom or in congregation at the masjid. Keeping in mind her limited knowledge of Qur'aan.

As-salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullah

I asked Shaikh Ubaid al-Jabiri about this matter and he -may Allah preserve him- responded:

Voluntary (Nawafil) prayer is better prayed in the home, for both men and women, and regarding the women specifically the matter is left open or she has the choice . So if a woman were to pray the Masjid, she is rewarded accordingly and if she prayed in her home, it is better because the Prophet sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam-said that her home is better for her.
