As salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh,

Was there any Sahaabi or Sahaabiyaat or one from the Tabi'een who was a non-Arab but learnt Arabic after becoming a Muslim?

JazakAllaah khayr wa salaamu alaykum.

It has been said that Umm Ayman's Arabic was so bad that she could hardly say as Salaamu Alaikum properly...and the Prophet(sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) would be patient with her...she was African and the Prophet called her a women of jannah.

Zayd Ibn Harithah the only companion whose name is mentioned in the Quraan Walhamduillah he was adopted by the Prophet Muhammed Sallahu Alaihi wa Salaam until Allah forbade adoption he was also married to Umm Ayman who the brother already mentioned in his post they had a son named Usaamah Ibn Zayd who was in command of a muslim army that included Abu Bakr and Umar at only 18 years old, Subhan'Allah!
