SECTION: REGARDING THE INNOVATIONS THAT HAVE BEEN NEWLY INVENTED BY THE CHRISTIANS

And as for their saying:

The newly chosen path, is the path we have submitted (ourselves) through the authority of the purified Messengers.  And on that basis the Christians) are (followers) of the Messiah (alayhis-salaam)

So it is said:

Had it been that you (Christians) were upon the (path of the Messiah); you would not have changed it.   You will not be benefited, for you have belied the Messenger; the Prophet who can neither read nor write; who was sent to you and to all the creation with another path that is more complete than all the other paths before it.  Likewise, the Jews will not be benefited even if they followed the path of the Torah, whilst not adhering to the path of the Messiah who was sent to them.  Rather, whoever belies a single Messenger is a disbeliever, as He (Ta-aalaa) said:

''Verily, those who disbelieve in Allaah and His Messengers and wish to make distinction between Allaah and His Messengers (by believing in Allaah and disbelieving in His Messengers) saying, "We believe in some but reject others," and wish to adopt a way in between.'' 4:150

Indeed, it is the case that the path which the Messiah (alayhis-salaam) came with is the truth and whoever followed it was a believer and a Muslim from the awliyaa of Allaah.  They are from the people of Paradise and upon them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve, as He (Ta-aalaa) said

''Verily! Those who believe and those who are Jews and Christians, and Sabians, whoever believes in Allıh and the Last Day and do righteous good deeds shall have their reward with their Lord, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.'' 2:62

And He (Ta-aalaa) said:

''O you who believe! Be you helpers (in the Cause) of Allaah as said 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), to Al-Hawaariyyeen (the disciples): "Who are my helpers (in the Cause) of Allaah?'' Al-Hawaariyyeen (the disciples) said: "We are Allaahıs helpers" (i.e. we will strive in His Cause!). Then a group of the Children of Israel believed and a group disbelieved. So We gave power to those who believed against their enemies, and they became the uppermost.'' 61:14

Therefore, the one who followed the Messiah became a Muslim and the one who disbelieved in him became a disbeliever.

And He (Ta-aalaa) said:

''And (remember) when Allaah said: "O 'Iesa (Jesus)! I will take you and raise you to Myself and clear you [of the forged statement that 'Iesa (Jesus) is Allaahıs son] of those who disbelieve, and I will make those who follow you (Monotheists, who worship none but Allıh) superior to those who disbelieve [in the Oneness of Allaah, or disbelieve in some of His Messengers, e.g. Muhammad, 'Iesa (Jesus), Moosaa (Moses), etc., or in His Holy Books, e.g. the Tauraat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel), the Qurıaan] till the Day of Resurrection. Then you will return to Me and I will judge between you in the matters in which you used to dispute.  As to those who disbelieve, I will punish them with a severe torment in this world and in the Hereafter, and they will have no helpers.  And as for those who believe (in the Oneness of Allaah) and do righteous good deeds, Allaah will pay them their reward in full. And Allıh does not like the Zaalimoon (polytheists and wrong-doers).'' 3:55-57

However, you (Christians) changed and substituted (the path of the Messiah) before the sending of Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam).   You persisted on disbelief for substituting the sharee-ah of the Messiah and belying the sharee-ah of Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam); just as the Jews disbelieved by substituting the Torah and belied the Injeel.  Then they (further) disbelieved by belying the sharee-ah of Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) and all the Messengers of Allaah.

Indeed, neither did the Messiah prescribe the doctrine of the trinity and the doctrine of divine personalities for you (Christians) nor that he (the Messiah) is the Lord of the Worlds.  He did not make swine lawful for you and other than it from the (forbidden things) or that you are to abandon circumcision.

Neither did he prescribe for you (Christians) prayer towards the place of rising of the sun nor that you priests and monks are to be taken as lords besides Allaah.  He (the Messiah) did not prescribe shirk for you shirk, the adoption of sculptures and the cross, supplicating to the Dead and the absent amongst the Prophets, the Saaliheen and other than them, and asking them for oneıs needs.

The Messiah) did not prescribe monasticism for you and other than that from the evil things they have newly invented.  The Messiah did not prescribe this for you, and the path you have submitted to is not that of the disciples of the Messiah; rather, what you are upon of practices are newly invented affairs innovated after the (advent) of the disciples, such as: fasting of fifty days during the spring season and taking Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays as days of Eed.  Indeed, neither the Messiah nor the disciples prescribed that for you.  Likewise the celebration on behalf of the disciples: birthdays and baptisms and other than that from your celebrations (was not prescribed for you).

Rather, the celebration (related) to the cross is an innovation of the Hellenists (i.e. those associated with the principles, ideals and pursuits of Greek Civilization, the Harraaniyya Qanda-qaaniyyah or Constantine).  You (yourselves) say: ''it was these ones who made a declaration of the cross and took the time of its declaration as a celebration, and that was a long period after the (advent) of the Messiah and the disciples, during the time of the ruler ship of Constantine, more than 300 years after the (advent) of the Messiah''.   And at that time, you betrayed the trust with regards to (corruption) of the texts/scriptures of the Prophets in other aspects.  You openly made swine lawful and punished those who would not eat it.  And you innovated the exaltation of the cross and other than that from your innovations.   Likewise, you prescribed the Qawaaneen (man made laws) which you designated as a Sunnah and a sharee-ah.  In it (these man made laws) was something about the prophets and the disciples, whilst most of what it contained was innovated after them.   Neither can you relate (these affairs) to the Messiah nor to the disciples.

Therefore, how can you be upon the Sunnah and the Sharee'ah of the Messiah (alayhis-salaam)?  Indeed, this is a manifest lie known by necessity and through that which took place at different periods.

SECTION: THE CLAIM OF THE CHRISTIANS THAT ISLAAM CONSIDERS ALL THE RELIGIONS TO BE EQUAL

They say, ''it has been mentioned in Suratul Baqarah'':

''Verily! Those who believe and those who are Jews and Christians, and Sabians, whoever believes in Allaah and the Last Day and do righteous good deeds shall have their reward with their Lord, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.'' 2:62

so, (according to them), this statement makes all the people equal: the Yahood, the Muslims and other than them.

THE FIRST RESPONSE:

There is no proof for you (Christians) in this ayah regarding that which you seek.  Indeed, (the ayah) places you (Christians), the Jews and the Sabians on the same level.  You (Christians) are in agreement with the Muslims that the Jews became disbelievers after belying the Messiah and the Sabians became disbelievers after belying the Messenger sent to them.   Therefore, if it were the case that this ayah extols the Religion you (Christians) are upon after the sending of Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam), then in it will also be praise for the Religion of the Jews; and both the Muslims and yourselves consider this to be falsehood.  So, if the Jews have not been praised in this Ayah after the abrogation and replacement of (their religion), then there will be no praise in it for the Christians after abrogation and replacement of (their religion).

Rather the meaning of the ayah is that:

Those who believe in Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam), and those Jews who followed Moosaa- (i.e. those who were upon his path before its abrogation and replacement), and those Christians who followed the Messiah-(i.e. those who followed his path before its abrogation and replacement)ı..and the Sabians, [(i.e. the Sabian Monotheists, such as those amongst the Arabs and other than them who were upon the Religion of Ibraaheem, Ismaa-eel and Ishaaq before its abrogation and replacement; because the Arabs are from the children of Ismaa-eel and other than him from amongst those who were neighbours of the Baitul Ateeq (the kaıbah), which was built by Ibraaheem and Ismaa-eel)ıthey used to be Monotheists upon the religion of Ibraaheem up until one of the heads of the (Khuzaa-a clan) Amr Bin Luhai altered the religion of Ibraaheem with shirk and prohibited that which Allaah did not prohibit.  That is why the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi wasallam) said:

''I saw Amr Bin luhai dragging his guts in the hell fire''

for he was the first one who set out across the small sea and changed the religion of Ibraaheem. (i.e. he initiated shirk).   Likewise, there were those of the Children of Ishaaq who were upon the religion of Ibraaheem before the sending of Musaa. (alayhis-salaam) and they used to be from amongst the favoured praised ones.  Therefore the above mentioned and others like them are those who have been praised.  Allaah said:

''Verily! Those who believe and those who are Jews and Christians, and Sabians, whoever believes in Allaah and the Last Day and do righteous good deeds shall have their reward with their Lord, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.'' 2:62

So, the People of the Scripture who (came) after the abrogation and replacement of (these Religions) are neither from those who believed in Allaah and the Last day nor from those who worked righteous good deeds, as He (Ta-aalaa) said:

''Fight against those who believe not in Allaah, nor in the Last Day, nor forbid that which has been forbidden by Allaah and His Messenger and those who acknowledge not the religion of truth (i.e. Islaam) among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), until they pay the Jizyah with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued''.9:29

And it has been mentioned, that those people of the Scripture (who came after the sending of Muhammad) disbelieved because they either substituted the religion of the Messiah or belied him or belied Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) in various affairs.  The Qurıaanic Aayaat (about this affair) are clear and many, and have been transmitted in abundance, and are known by necessity in the Religion of Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam).  However, these Christians approach the Qurıaan in the same way they approached the Torah and the Injeel.  They make undue claims on the Muhkamaat (i.e. the clear texts, the manifestly clear texts) which do not carry except a singular meaning, whilst clinging onto the Mutashaabih (i.e. the unclear texts which must be referred back to the clear texts for explanation) , even though in them is contained that which is in opposition to what they desire, just as Allaah said about them and those similar to them:

''It is He Who has sent down to you (Muhammad (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam)) the Book (this Qur'aan). In it are Verses that are entirely clear, they are the foundations of the Book [and those are the Verses of Al-Ahkım (commandments, etc.), Al-Faraaıid (obligatory duties) and Al-Hudud (legal laws for the punishment of thieves, adulterers, etc.)]; and others not entirely clear. So as for those in whose hearts there is a deviation (from the truth) they follow that which is not entirely clear thereof, seeking Al-Fitnah (polytheism and trials, etc.), and seeking for its hidden meanings, but none knows its hidden meanings save Allaah. And those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say: "We believe in it; the whole of it (clear and unclear Verses) are from our Lord." And none receive admonition except men of understanding.'' 3:7

SECTION: THE FALSITY IN THEIR UTILISATION OF THE MUTASHAABIH AS PROOF

They say, likewise there has occurred in this Book (i.e. the Qur'aan) the saying:

''Verily, you will find the strongest among men in enmity to the believers (Muslims) the Jews and those who are Al-Mushrikoon, and you will find the nearest in love to the believers (Muslims) those who say: "We are Christians."That is because amongst them are priests and monks, and they are not proud''. 5:82.

This (ayah) mentions the Priests and Monks.  So, if this (enmity towards the believers) has been mentioned about other than us, then it is proof of our good (actions and intentions).  It negates shirk from us, and that the yahood and those who ascribed partners to Allaah in worship are more severe in their enmity towards the believers.  And that the nearest in love to the believers are those who say, ''we are Christians''

End of the argument of the Christians...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THE ANSWER TO THIS IS (GIVEN) IN THE COMPLETE STATEMENT (BELOW):

''And when they (who call themselves Christians) listen to what has been sent down to the Messenger (Muhammad), you see their eyes overflowing with tears because of the truth they have recognised.  They say: ''Our Lord! We believe; so write us down among the witnesses. And why should we not believe in Allaah and in that which has come to us of the truth (Islaamic Monotheism)? And we wish that our Lord will admit us (in Paradise on the Day of Resurrection) along with the righteous people. So because of what they said, Allaah rewarded them Gardens under which rivers flow (in Paradise), they will abide therein forever. Such is the reward of good-doers.''5:83-85

Therefore, He (subhaanah) did not make a promise for reward in the Hereafter, except to those who believe in Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam).  They are the ones about whom it is stated:

''And when they (who call themselves Christians) listen to what has been sent down to the Messenger, you see their eyes overflowing with tears because of the truth they have recognised.  They say: ''Our Lord! We believe; so write us down among the witnesses'' 5:83

The witnesses are those who testify to Messengership of Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam). They bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allaah and that Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) is the Messenger of Allaah.  So, they are the witnesses being spoken about.  Allaah said:

''Thus We have made you [true Muslims - real believers of Islaamic Monotheism, true followers of Prophet Muhammad and his Sunnah (legal ways)], a Wasat (just) (and the best) nation, that you be witnesses over mankind and the Messenger (Muhammad) be a witness over you''. 2:143

And for that reason, Ibn Abbaas (radiyallaahu-anhu) and other than him stated (about the statement in the ayah-: ''so write us down among the witnesses''), that is: ''write us down with Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) and his ummah''.   And all those who bear witness to the Messengers with affirmation are from THE WITNESSES, just as the disciples said:

''Our Lord! We believe in what You have sent down, and we follow the Messenger ['Iesa (Jesus)]; so write us down among those who bear witness (to the truth i.e. Laa ilaaha illal-laa - none has the right to be worshipped but Allaah)''. 3:53

And He (Ta-aalaa) said:

''And strive hard in Allaah's Cause as you ought to strive (with sincerity and with all your efforts that His Name should be superior). He has chosen you (to convey His Message of Islaamic Monotheism to mankind by inviting them to His religion, Islaam), and has not laid upon you in religion any hardship, it is the religion of your father Ibraahim (Abraham) (Islaamic Monotheism). It is He (Allaah) Who has named you Muslims both before and in this (the Qur'aan), that the Messenger (Muhammad) may be a witness over you and you be witnesses over mankind!'' 22:77-78

TO be continued....Inshaa-Allaah

''Verily, you will find the strongest among men in enmity to the believers (Muslims) the Jews and those who are Al-Mushrikoon, and you will find the nearest in love to the believers (Muslims) those who say: ''we are christians''5:82

As for the above statement of Allaah (subhaanah), then it is as He has stated.  The enmity found with the mushrikoon and the yahood towards the believers (the Muslims) is more severe than the enmity of the Christians (towards the believers).   Indeed, the Yahood have that hatred and enmity towards the Muslims, which the Christians do not have.  And the Christians have that love and mercy, which the Yahood do not have.

THE FOUNDATION OF ENMITY IS HATRED:

The yahood used to harbour hatred towards their Prophets, so how can they not have hatred towards the believers? (i.e. the Muslims).  As for the Christians, there is neither hatred nor enmity in their Religion towards the enemies of Allaah and towards those who hasten to sow corruption upon the earth,so how can they have that hatred towards the believers? (who are steadfast upon the Religion of Ibraaheem, who believe in all the Books and the Messengers).    And this(mercy and love of the Christians) is neither praise for them with regards to belief in Allaah nor a promise of safety or reward; rather it is only with regards to them being nearest in their love.

And His (subhaanah) statement:

''that is because amongst them are priests and monks, and they are not proud.''5:82

That is: due to these (priests and monks) and their abandonment of pride, there occurs from them some love which makes them better than the mushrikoon, and nearest in love than the yahood and the mushrikoon.

Then He (subhaanah) said:

''And when THEY (who call themselves Christians) listen to what has been sent down to the Messenger (Muhammad), you see their eyes overflowing with tears because of the truth they have recognised.'' 5:83

These are the ones who have been praised with Eemaan and promised the reward of the hereafter.  And the pronoun (they), when attributed to the mutaqaddimoon (the early Christians), then what is intended is a group of them and not every single one of them.  And similar to this is His (subhaanah) statement:

''And the Jews say: 'Uzair (Ezra) is the son of Allaah''9:30; that is: a faction of the yahood uttered this (statement) and not every single one of them.

And also from (this discussion), is that there are some amongst the Christians with soft hearts who may deserve Eemaan, which is not the case with the yahood.  This is the truth.

To be continued......Inshaa-Allaah

''Verily, you will find the strongest among men in enmity to the believers (Muslims) the Jews and those who are Al-Mushrikoon, and you will find the nearest in love to the believers (Muslims) those who say: ''we are christians''5:82

The Christians (also) say that the above ayah frees them from shirk.

THE REPLY TO THIS CLAIM:

And without a doubt, Allaah has made a differentiation between the mushrikoon and the people of the Scripture in a number of places, and He (subhaanah) has (also) described those (people of the Scripture) who commit shirk; rather He (subhaanah) (also) made a differentiation between the Sabians, the Magians and the mushrikoon in some places.

Allaah said:

''Those who disbelieve from among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) and among Al-Mushrikoon'' 98:1

And He (Ta-aalaa) said:

''Verily, those who believe (in Allaah and in His Messenger Muhammad) and those who are Jews, and the Sabians, and the Christians, and the Magians, and those who worship others besides Allaah'' 22:17

And He (Ta-aalaa) said:

''Verily, you will find the strongest among men in enmity to the believers (Muslims) the Jews and those who are Al-Mushrikoon'' 5:82

AND HE (SUBHAANAH) HAS (ALSO) ATTRIBUTED SHIRK TO THE CHRISTIANS SAYING:

''They (Jews and Christians) took their rabbis and their monks to be their lords besides Allaah (by obeying them in things which they made lawful or unlawful according to their own desires without being ordered by Allaah), and (they also took as their Lord) Messiah, son of Maryam (Mary), while they (Jews and Christians) were commanded [in the Tauraat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)) to worship none but One Ilaah (God - Allaah) Laa ilaaha illaa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). Praise and glory be to Him, (far above is He) from having the partners they associate (with Him).''9:31

Therefore He (subhaanah) frees Himself from the shirk committed by the Christians, and He (mentioned) that shirk was not found in their Religion at first; rather He (subhaanah) sent His Messengers with Tawheed and forbade from shirk, just as He (Ta-aalaa) said:

''And ask (O Muhammad) those of Our Messengers whom We sent before you: "Did We ever appoint aaliha (gods) to be worshipped besides the Most Beneficent (Allaah)?'' 43:45

And He (Ta-aalaa) said:

''And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming): ''Worship Allaah (Alone), and avoid (or keep away from) Taaghoot (all false deities, etc. i.e. do not worship Taaghoot besides Allaah).''16:36

And He (Ta-aalaa) said:

''And We did not send any Messenger before you (O Muhammad) but We inspired him (saying): Laa ilıha illa Ana [none has the right to be worshipped but I (Allaah)], so worship Me (Alone and none else).''21:25

And from what has preceded (above) is that:

The Messiah (salawaatullaahi-wasalaamuhu) and the Messengers before him used to call to the Tawheed of Allaah, and that no partner is associated with Him in worship.  This was the affair in the Torah.

The Messiah was not described with something greater than what he was.  Neither did a single Prophet command that an Angel, a Prophet, a Star or an engraved image be WORSHIPPED, and nor that INTERCESSION is sought and asked from Allaah through the dead, and the absent, or through a prophet and an angel.   Neither did a single Messenger command that the Angels are to be INVOKED with the statement:  ''intercede for us with Allaah'', nor that the Prophets, the righteous, and the dead and the absent were to be INVOKED with the statement:  ''intercede for us with Allaah''.

The (Prophets, Angels, righteous people etc) were neither depicted in sculptures nor symbolized as means of protection/shelter, and nor were their images drawn on walls.   They were not invoked and exalted as a means of seeking nearness and obedience,- be it with the INTENTION of invoking those depicted in such sculptures, exalting them, seeking intercession through them, beseeching them to ask Allaah (subhaanah) on one's behalf or utilising such sculptures as a means of remembering those depicted in them with the intention of invocation.  The Christians failed to realize that to have such an INTENTION is from the actions of the idol worshippers, and that such action is worship of Satan.

And if their intention was not to worship Satan, then he (Satan) would take the form of an image for them to exalt, and says to them: ''I am Khidr, I am the Messiah, and I am Sheikh such and such''....just as has happened to more than one individual from amongst those who ascribe themselves to the Muslims and those who ascribe themselves to the Christians.  Satan enters some of these sculptures and speaks to (such people) and fulfils some of their needs.  The likes of these (events) brought about shirk in the past and at present; thus the Christians and those similar to them embark upon that which they commit of shirk.

As for the Prophets, they forbade all these (affairs) and not a single one of them commanded anything of that.

The Christians did not command with the exaltation of carved idols, but they exalted images depicted in sculptures.  So they are neither upon that pure Tawheed (that protects a person from eternal punishment) nor are they similar to the idol worshippers who (worship idols and belie the Messengers).  For this reason, Allaah sometimes categorized them to be other than idol worshippers and at other times He (subhaanah) censures them for that which they newly invented of shirk.

SECTION: THE GHULUWW OF THE CHRISTIANS (I.E. GOING BEYOND BOUNDS IN RELIGION)

And as for their statement: ''We Christians have not done anything similar to what the yahood have done''

THE REPLY TO THIS (STATEMENT) IS:

Disbelief, Evil Sins and Disobedience are not confined to the sins of the Yahood.  If you have not done what is similar to their actions, then you (also) have statements and actions greater than the disbelief of the Yahood.  Although you are more lenient and nearest in love than the Yahood, however you are more ignorant and misguided than them.

He (Ta-aalaa) said:

''And they say: "The Most Beneficent (Allaah) has begotten a son (or offspring or children). Indeed you have brought forth (said) a terrible evil thing.  Whereby the heavens are almost torn, and the earth is split asunder, and the mountains fall in ruins, that they ascribe a son (or offspring or children) to the Most Beneficent (Allaah).   But it is not suitable for (the Majesty of) the Most Beneficent (Allaah) that He should beget a son (or offspring or children).   There is none in the heavens and the earth but comes unto the Most Beneficent (Allaah) as a slave. Verily, He knows each one of them, and has counted them a full counting. And everyone of them will come to Him alone on the Day of Resurrection (without any helper, or protector or defender)''. 19:88-95

And He (Ta-aalaa) said:

''All the praises and thanks be to Allaah, Who has sent down to His slave (Muhammad) the Book (the Qur'aan), and has not placed therein any crookedness. (He has made it) Straight to give warning (to the disbelievers) of a severe punishment from Him, and to give glad tidings to the believers (in the Oneness of Allaah Islaamic Monotheism), who work righteous deeds, that they shall have a fair reward (i.e. Paradise).  They shall abide therein forever.  And to warn those (Jews, Christians, and pagans) who say, "Allaah has begotten a son (or offspring or children)." No knowledge have they of such a thing, nor had their fathers. Mighty is the word that comes out of their mouths [i.e. He begot (took) sons and daughters]. They utter nothing but a lie.'' 18:1-5

And He (Ta-aalaa) said:

''Fight against those who believe not in Allaah, nor in the Last Day, nor forbid that which has been forbidden by Allaah and His Messenger and those who acknowledge not the religion of truth (i.e. Islaam) among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), until they pay the Jizyah with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued'' 9:29

And He (Ta-aalaa) said:

''And the Jews say: 'Uzair (Ezra) is the son of Allaah, and the Christians say: Messiah is the son of Allaah. That is a saying from their mouths. They imitate the saying of the disbelievers of old. Allaah's Curse be on them, how they are deluded away from the truth!  They (Jews and Christians) took their rabbis and their monks to be their lords besides Allaah (by obeying them in things which they made lawful or unlawful according to their own desires without being ordered by Allaah), and (they also took as their Lord) Messiah, son of Maryam (Mary), while they (Jews and Christians) were commanded [in the Tauraat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)) to worship none but One Ilaah (God - Allaah) Laa ilaaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). Praise and glory be to Him, (far above is He) from having the partners they associate (with Him).''9:30-31

And He (Ta-aalaa) said:

''They (the disbelievers, the Jews and the Christians) want to extinguish Allaah's Light (with which Muhammad has been sent - Islaamic Monotheism) with their mouths, but Allaah will not allow except that His Light should be perfected even though the Kaafiroon (disbelievers) hate (it). It is He Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islaam), to make it superior over all religions even though the Mushrikoon (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allaah) hate (it). O you who believe! Verily, there are many of the (Jewish) rabbis and the (Christian) monks who devour the wealth of mankind in falsehood, and hinder (them) from the Way of Allaah (i.e. Allaah's Religion of Islaamic Monotheism).'' 9:32-34

And He (Ta-aalaa) said:

''And from those who call themselves Christians, We took their covenant, but they have abandoned a good part of the Message that was sent to them. So We planted amongst them enmity and hatred till the Day of Resurrection (when they discarded Allıh's Book, disobeyed Allıh's Messengers and His Orders and transgressed beyond bounds in Allıh's disobedience), and Allıh will inform them of what they used to do.'' 5:14

And Allaah stated of that which He has related about the Messiah (alayhis-salaam):

''Such is 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary). (it is) a statement of truth, about which they doubt (or dispute). It befits not (the Majesty of) Allaah that He should beget a son [this refers to the slander of Christians against Allaah, by saying that 'Iesa (Jesus) is the son of Allaah]. Glorified (and Exalted be He above all that they associate with Him). When He decrees a thing, He only says to it, "Be!" and it is.  ['Iesa (Jesus) said]: ''And verily Allıh is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him (Alone). That is the Straight Path. (Allaah's Religion of Islaamic Monotheism which He did ordain for all of His Prophets)." Then the sects differed [i.e. the Christians about 'Iesa (Jesus)], so woe unto the disbelievers [those who gave false witness by saying that 'Iesa (Jesus) is the son of Allaah] from the meeting of a great Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection, when they will be thrown in the blazing Fire). How clearly will they (polytheists and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allaah) see and hear, the Day when they will appear before Us! But the Zalimoon (polytheists and wrong-doers) today are in plain error.'' 19:34-38

And He (subhaanah) said:

''Say (O Muhammad): "O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians)! Exceed not the limits in your religion (by believing in something) other than the truth, and do not follow the vain desires of people who went astray in times gone by, and who misled many, and strayed (themselves) from the Right Path.''5:77

To be continued....Inshaa-Allaah

SECTION: THE GHULUWW OF THE YAHOOD

When one ponders upon the condition of the Yahood and the Christians in relation to that of the Muslims, he finds that the Yahood are at one extreme in misguidance and the Christians are at another extreme in misguidance, and the Muslims are upon the middle course.  Likewise, the Muslims are upon uprightness in the affairs of Tawheed, the Prophets, the Revealed laws, and in the affairs of Halaal, Haraam, and Manners and other than that.

The Yahood liken Allaah to the creation by describing Him with (Attributes) of imperfection, which  the Lord (subhaanah) is totally free of; such as the statement of those amongst them who say that Allaah (subhaanah) is Poor and Miserly, and that Allaah (subhaanah) was overcome by fatigue after creating the heavens and the earth.

The Christians liken the creation to the Creator with regards to the Attributes of Perfection that are specific to the Creator, and which none else has a likeness to besides Him (Alone); such as their statement that the Messiah is Allaah, and that he is the son of Allaah.

The Christians also attribute attributes of imperfection to Godhead, which the Lord (subhaanah) must be freed from.  They insult Allaah with such insult that none else amongst the creation has done.  Mu-aadh Bin Jabal (Radiyallaahu anhu) said:  ''Do not feel sympathetic towards them, for indeed they insult Allaah with such insult that none amongst the creation has insulted Him with''.

The Yahood say that it is not permissible for Allaah to abrogate what He has legislated for this contradicts His Wisdom, Ability etc.  The Christians permit their elders (i.e. their priests/monks) to abrogate the sharee-ah of Allaah, which He sent His Messengers with.

So they make lawful that which Allaah has forbidden, just as they have made lawful swine and other than it from the impure things; rather, they do not make anything unlawful (of those things that are to be declared unlawful), whilst they declare the lawful to be unlawful; just as they have unlawfully prescribed the bidah of monasticism.

And they severed that which Allaah has enjoined, just as they have abolished circumcision and other than it.  They abolished various forms of purification related to affairs of Ghusul, the removal of impurities and other than that.  They enjoined that which is to be abolished, such as the man made laws which Allaah and His Prophets have not enjoined.

THE MUSLIMS ARE THOSE UPON THE BALANCED AND UPRIGHT PATH

The Muslims describe the Lord with what befits Him of Perfect Attributes.  They free Him (subhaanah) from deficiencies that depict a likeness of Him to (others).  They describe Him (subhaanah) with what He described Himself with, and with what His Messengers described Him with, without Tahreef, Tateel and Takyeef.  The Muslims know that there is nothing like unto Him (subhaanah), neither with regards to His Essence and His Attributes nor His Actions.

And they (the Muslims) say:

''His is the creation and the command'' 7:54

And just as none else besides Him creates, (also) none else besides Him commands; rather all the Religion belongs to Him.  He is the One worshipped (in truth).  He is the One to be obeyed, and all worship is to be devoted to Him (subhaanah).  There is no obedience to anyone except through His obedience.  He is the One Who abrogates what He abrogated from His revealed laws, and it is not for anyone else to abrogate His revealed laws.

The Yahood go beyond bounds with regards to avoiding the impure things; thus they declared unlawful the lawful and good things.  The Christians made lawful the impure things (i.e. swine) and impure clothing.  And Allaah has made lawful for the Muslims the good pure things in opposition to the Yahood, and He prohibited them the impure things in opposition to the Christians.

The Yahood go beyond bounds with regards to purification of their bodies alongside their wicked hearts.  The Christians claim that they purify their hearts, alongside impure bodies (i.e. due to them abandoning various acts of purification).  The Muslims purify their hearts and their bodies.

The Christians possess acts of worship and manners that are not accompanied by knowledge, cognisance and intelligence.  The Yahood possess intelligence, knowledge and cognisance that is not accompanied by acts of neither worship nor good manners.  The Muslims combine between beneficial knowledge and righteous action, and between purity and intelligence.

Indeed, Allaah sent His Messengers with Guidance and the Religion of Truth.  Guidance comprises of beneficial knowledge, and the Religion of Truth comprises righteous action in order that it may become dominant over all other Religions.  Dominance takes place through knowledge and (clarification through speech), in order to clarify its truthfulness and what it contains of guidance.  Dominance can take place by way of striving with the hand and weapons, in order to be aided in victory.    Indeed, Allaah manifested this dominance, for the Muslims are the people of the straight path; the straight path that Allaah has chosen for the Prophets, The Truthful Ones, The Martyrs, The Righteous Ones, and how excellent these companions are!

''And not (the way) of those who earned Allaahıs Anger'':those who knew the truth but did not act upon it, such as the Yahood.  ''And not (the way) of those who went astray'':those who performed acts of worship and practiced Zuhd without knowledge, such as the Christians.

The Yahood killed the Prophets and those who enjoined justice.  The Christians took their priests, monks and the Messiah (son of maryam) as lords besides Allaah.  The Muslims establish uprightness.  They believe in Allaah, in His Angels, His Books and His Messengers.  They neither belie the Prophets nor insult them.  They neither have ghuluww for them nor do they worship them.  Likewise, they neither diminish the rights of the people of knowledge nor do they have ghuluww for them.

The Yahood brought about anger and vengeance upon themselves, and the Christians neither get angry nor retaliate for the sake of their Lord (Allaah).  The Muslims are those upright ones who follow their prophet; they get angry for the sake of Allaah and pardon out of benevolence, just as is narrated in the saheehain from Aisha (radiyallaahu-anhaa) who said:

''Allah's Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) never beat anyone with his hand, neither a woman nor a servant, but only, in the case when he had been fighting in the cause of Allah.  And he never took revenge for anything unless the things made inviolable by Allah were violated; he then took revenge for Allah, the Exalted and Glorious''. (Saheeh Muslim-Kitaab al Fadaa-il)

And in the saheehain, Anas (radiyallaahu-anhu) said:

''I served the Prophet for ten years, and he never said to me, ''Uf'' (a minor harsh word denoting impatience) and never blamed me by saying, ''Why did you do so or why didn't you do so?'' (Saheeh Bukhaari(Kitaab al Adab)

So this kindness of the Messenger of Allaah (his-sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) was with regards to how he dealt with the people (when harmed personally).  However, as for (his stance) towards the hodood (the prescribed punishments legislated by Allaah), it has been reported in saheehain from Aisha (radiyallaahu-anhaa) that:

''The Quraish had been anxious about the Makhzumi woman who had committed theft, and said: Who will speak to Allah's Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) about her? They said: Who dare it, but Usama, the loved one of Allah's Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam)? So Usama spoke to him. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said to him: O Usaamah! Do you intercede regarding one of the punishments prescribed by Allah? He then stood up and addressed the (people) saying: O people, those who have gone before you were destroyed, because if any one of high rank committed theft amongst them, they spared him; and it anyone of low rank committed theft, they inflicted the prescribed punishment upon him. By Allah, if Fatima, daughter of Muhammad, were to steal, I would have her hand cut off.''(Reported by Bukhaari and Muslim-Book of Hudood (Punishments)

Indeed, Allaah described the Ummah of Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) to be of the greatest benefit to the creation than all the other umam (nations).  He (subhaanah) said:

''You [true believers in Islaamic Monotheism, and real followers of Prophet Muhammad and his Sunnah (legal ways, etc.)] are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind; you enjoin Al-Ma'roof (i.e. Islaamic Monotheism and all that Islaam has ordained) and forbid Al-Munkar (polytheism, disbelief and all that Islaam has forbidden), and you believe in Allaah. And had the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) believed, it would have been better for them; among them are some who have faith, but most of them are Al-Faasiqoon (disobedient to Allaah - and rebellious against Allaah's Command)''. 3:110

THEREFORE, THERE IS THAT ENJOINING OF GOOD AND FORBIDDING EVIL IN THE UMMAH OF MUHAMMAD WHICH BRINGS ABOUT WELL BEING FOR THE SLAVES IN THIS LIFE AND THE NEXT, AND THE LIKES OF THIS IS NOT FOUND WITH THE JEWS AND THE CHRISTIANS.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1.Tahreef: (altering the meaning understood, and accepting such a meaning which the words may indicate in a doubtful sense)

2.Tateel:  (negating the Attributes of Allaah),

3.Takyeef and Tamtheel (attributing a state of being or likeness to the creation).

SECTION: THE STATEMENT OF ALLAAH: ''TO YOU BE YOUR RELIGION, AND TO ME MY RELIGION''109:6

The (Christians) say, ''we found in this Book (i.e. the Qur'aan) that which (nothing else) can be of greater proof, and that is the statement of Allaah in Surah Ash-Shoora:

''But say: ''I believe in whatsoever Allaah has sent down of the Book [all the holy Books, this Qur'aan and the Books of the old from the Tauraat (Torah), or the Injeel (Gospel) or the Pages of Ibraaheem (Abraham)] and I am commanded to do justice among you, Allaah is our Lord and your Lord.  For us our deeds and for you your deeds. There is no dispute between us and you. Allaah will assemble us (all), and to Him is the final return''. 42:15

And regarding others besides the people of the Scripture, Allaah said:

''Say (O Muhammad): "O disbelievers!" I worship not that which you worship, Nor will you worship that which I worship. And I shall not worship that which you are worshipping. Nor will you worship that which I worship. To you be your religion, and to me my religion (Islaamic Monotheism).''109:1-6

End of the argument of the Christians

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THE RESPONSE TO THE ABOVE CLAIM:

As for Allaah's statement:  ''But say: "I believe in whatsoever Allaah has sent down of the Book [all the holy Books, this Qur'aan and the Books of the old from the Tauraat (Torah), or the Injeel (Gospel) or the Pages of Ibrıhim (Abraham)] and I am commanded to do justice among you, Allaah is our Lord and your Lord. For us our deeds and for you your deeds. There is no dispute between us and you.'' 42:15

Allaah mentioned this (above ayah) after the (following) statement:

''He (Allaah) has ordained for you the same religion (Islaam) which He ordained for Nooh (Noah), and that which We have inspired in you (O Muhammad), and that which We ordained for Ibraheem (Abraham), Moosaa (Moses) and 'Iesa (Jesus) saying you should establish religion (i.e. to do what it orders you to do practically), and make no divisions in it (religion) (i.e. various sects in religion). Intolerable for the Mushrikoon, is that to which you (O Muhammad) call them.  Allaah chooses for Himself whom He wills, and guides unto Himself who turns to Him in repentance and in obedience.  And they divided not till after knowledge had come to them, through selfish transgression between themselves.  And had it not been for a Word that went forth before from your Lord for an appointed term, the matter would have been settled between them. And verily, those who were made to inherit the Scripture [i.e. the Tauraat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] after them (i.e. Jews and Christians) are in grave doubt concerning it (i.e. Allaah's true religion, Islaam or the Qur'aan). So unto this (religion of Islaam, alone and this Qur'aan) then invite (people) (O Muhammad), and Istaqim [(i.e. stand firm and straight on Islaamic Monotheism by performing all that is ordained by Allaah (good deeds, etc.), and by abstaining from all that is forbidden by Allaah (sins and evil deeds, etc.)], as you are commanded, and follow not their desires but say: "I believe in whatsoever Allaah has sent down of the Book [all the holy Books, this Qur'aan and the Books of the old from the Taurıt (Torah), or the Injeel (Gospel) or the Pages of Ibraahim (Abraham)] and I am commanded to do justice among you, Allaah is our Lord and your Lord.''42:13-15

Indeed, Allaah has ordained for us (Muslims) the same Religion which He ordained for Ibraaheem, Musa and Eesaa, and that we should establish this Religion and make no divisions in it; just as Allaah stated in another ayah:

''So set you (O Muhammad) your face towards the religion of pure Islaamic Monotheism Hanifa (worship none but Allaah Alone) Allaah's Fitrah (i.e. Allaah's Islaamic Monotheism), with which He has created mankind. No change let there be in Khalqillaah (i.e. the Religion of Allaah Islaamic Monotheism), that is the straight religion, but most of men know not.  (Always) Turning in repentance to Him (only), and be afraid and dutiful to Him; and perform As-Salaat (Iqaama-As-Salaat) and be not of AlMushrikoon (the disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, polytheists, idolaters, etc.). Of those who split up their religion (i.e. who left the true Islaamic Monotheism), and became sects, [i.e. they invented new things in the religion (Bid'ah), and followed their vain desires], each sect rejoicing in that which is with it.''30:30-32

And He (Ta-aalaa) said:

''O (you) Messengers! Eat of the Taiyibaat [all kinds of Halaal (legal) foods which Allıh has made legal (meat of slaughtered eatable animals, milk products, fats, vegetables, fruits, etc.], and do righteous deeds. Verily! I am Well-Acquainted with what you do.   And verily! This your religion (of Islaamic Monotheism) is one religion, and I am your Lord, so keep your duty to Me.  But they (men) have broken their religion among them into sects, each group rejoicing in its belief''. 23:51-53

So, Allaah has informed (us) about the splitting of those who inherited the Scripture, such as the splitting of the Jews and the Christians.  The Jews and the Christians split (into sects), such as the 'Nastooriyyah', the 'Yaqoobiyyah' and the 'Malakiyyah'

He (subhaanah) said:

''And verily, those who were made to inherit the Scripture [i.e. the Tauraah (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] after themıı; that is those ones who split (their Religion), are in GRAVE DOUBT concerning it (i.e. Allaah's true religion Islım or the Qur'aan)''42:13.

This is the general inclination of the Jews and the Christians; they are in grave doubt concerning Allaah's true Religion.

He (subhaanah) said:

''Indeed, We gave the Book to Moosaa (Moses), but differences arose therein, and had it not been for a Word that had gone forth before from your Lord, the case would have been judged between them, and indeed they are in grave doubt concerning it (this Qur'aan)''11:110

And He (Ta-aalaa) said:

''But they killed him not, nor crucified him, but the resemblance of 'Iesa (Jesus) was put over another man (and they killed that man), and those who differ therein are full of doubts.  They have no (certain) knowledge, they follow nothing but conjecture. For surely; they killed him not [i.e. 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary) ]: But Allaah raised him ['Iesa (Jesus)] up (with his body and soul) unto Himself (and he is in the heavens). And Allaah is Ever All Powerful, All Wise.'' 4:157-158

He (subhaanah) said:

''So unto this (religion of Islaam, alone and this Qur'aan) then invite (people) (O Muhammad), and Istaqim [(i.e. stand firm)], as you are commanded (42:15), upon the Religion that Allaah has ordained for us (Muslims).  ''And Istaqim [(i.e. stand firm)], as you are commanded and follow not their desires''42:15

''And follow not their desires'':---i.e. the DESIRES of the Jews and the Christians and that of the idol worshippers.  This is (further) made clear in the statement of Allaah:

''Never will the Jews nor the Christians be pleased with you (O Muhammad] till you follow their religion. Say: "Verily, the Guidance of Allaah (i.e. Islaamic Monotheism) that is the (only) Guidance. And if you (O Muhammad) were to follow their (Jews and Christians) DESIRES after what you have received of Knowledge (i.e. the Qur'aan), then you would have against Allaah neither any Waliy (protector or guardian) nor any helper''. 2:120

And He (Ta-aalaa) said:

''And even if you were to bring to the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) all the Ayaat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), they would not follow your Qiblah (prayer direction), nor are you going to follow their Qiblah (prayer direction). And they will not follow each other's Qiblah (prayer direction). Verily, if you follow their DESIRES after that which you have received of knowledge (from Allaah), then indeed you will be one of the Zaalimoon (polytheists, wrong-doers, etc.)''2:145

Similarly, it is forbidden to follow the desires of the idol as stated clearly in the statement of Allaah:

''Say: "Bring forward your witnesses, who can testify that Allıh has forbidden this. Then if they testify, testify not you (O Muhammad) with them. And you should not follow the vain desires of such as treat Our Ayaat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) as falsehoods, and such as believe not in the Hereafter, and they hold others as equal (in worship) with their Lord.''6:150

And regarding the statement of Allaah:

''But say: "I believe in whatsoever Allaah has sent down of the Book [all the holy Books, this Qur'aan and the Books of the old from the Tauraat (Torah), or the Injeel (Gospel) or the Pages of Ibraaheem (Abraham)]:-----

This above ayah is truth, for Allaah has commanded Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) and all the creation (mankind and jinn) to have belief in all that Allaah has revealed.  Likewise, the statement of Allaah: And I (Muhammad) am commanded to do justice among you'': this statement is true, for Allaah commanded him (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) to do justice among all the creation.

And regarding the statement of Allaah: ''Allaah is our Lord and your Lord. For us our deeds and for you your deeds'' 42:15; this is a declaration of his (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) innocence from the idol worshippers and the People of the Book, and it is similar to the statement of Allaah: ''And if they belie you (O Muhammad), say: "For me are my deeds and for you are your deeds! You are innocent of what I do, and I am innocent of what you do!''10:41

This is also similar to the statement of Allaah: Say (O Muhammad to the (Jews and Christians), "Dispute you with us about Allaah while He is our Lord and your Lord? And we are to be rewarded for our deeds and you for your deeds. And we are sincere to Him in worship and obedience (i.e. we worship Him Alone and none else, and we obey His Orders)." 2:139.

Likewise, Allaah (subhaanah) said:

''Say (O Muhammad): "O Al-Kaafiroon (disbelievers!) I worship not that which you worship, nor will you worship that which I worship. And I shall not worship that which you are worshipping. Nor will you worship that which I worship. To you be your religion, and to me my religion (Islaamic Monotheism).''109:1-6

Therefore, the words of Allaah in ( sura al-kaafiroon) are similar to His statement: "For me are my deeds and for you are your deeds! You are innocent of what I do, and I am innocent of what you do!" 10:41

The above words necessitate a declaration of his (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) innocence from their actions, and their declaration of innocence from his (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) actions.  That is because the letter 'Laam' in the Arabic Language demonstrates ikhtisaas (a marked distinction -i.e. between two affairs/things).  Therefore, the statement of Allaah: ''Lakum Deenukum Waliya Deen'' means: ''To you be your religion, and to me my religion (Islaamic Monotheism)''.  This establishes (the fact) that the Jews, Christians and Idol Worshippers are distinguished with the religion they follow, and I (Muhammad) do not partake in that.  And I (Muhammad) and my followers are distinguished with the Religion we follow, and you do not partake in that; just as He (Ta-aalaa) said:

''For me are my deeds and for you are your deeds! You are innocent of what I do, and I am innocent of what you do!''10:41

This is why the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said that the statement of Allaah: To you be your Religion, and to me be my Religion (Islaamic Monotheism) 109:1-6, that it is a declaration of freedom from Shirk.  (Reported by Imaam Abu Dawood-Kitaab al Adab, Hadith No: 5055)

The above ayah does not mean that Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) was either pleased with the religion of the idol worshippers or that of the People of the Book as some the heretics think.  (Also) the above ayah is not a prohibition from fighting as some think, thus declaring it abrogated.  Rather, this ayah is declaration of Muhammad's innocence from the religion of the Jews, the Christians and the idol worshippers, and that they are innocent of Muhammad's Religion of (Islaamic Monotheism).  And that he (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) will not be harmed by their actions, and that they will neither be rewarded through the actions that Muhammad performs in obedience to his Lord nor will they be benefited through it.   This affair (i.e. declaration of oneıs freedom from the religion of the Jews, Christians and idolaters) is entirely clear and its abrogation is never accepted.  The Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) was neither pleased with the religion of the idol worshippers nor that of the Jews and the Christians, not even with the twinkling of an eye.

The one who claims that Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) was pleased with the religion of the disbelievers cited as his evidence the statement of Allaah:

''Say (O Muhammad): ''O Al-Kaafiroon (disbelievers!) I worship not that which you worship, nor will you worship that which I worship. And I shall not worship that which you are worshipping. Nor will you worship that which I worship. To you be your religion, and to me my religion (Islaamic Monotheism).''109:1-6

Such a heretic thinks that the statement of Allaah: ''To you be your religion, and to me my religion (Islaamic Monotheism)'' means that he (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) was pleased with the religion of the disbelievers.  Then (this heretic) claims that this ayah was abrogated, so it appears as if he (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) was pleased with the religion of the disbelievers.  This is an obvious lie and a fabrication against Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam).  For indeed, he (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) was never pleased with other than the Religion that Allaah (subhaanah) sent His Messengers with.    He (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) was never pleased with the religion of the disbelievers, neither that of the idol worshippers nor that of the Jews and the Christians.

The statement of Allaah: ''To you be your religion, and to me my Religion (Islaamic Monotheism)'' is neither an indication that he (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) was pleased with their religion nor is it an attestation of that for them; rather it is a declaration of his (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) innocence from their religion.  For that reason the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said: Indeed, this sura is a declaration of innocence from shirk.''

This is also similar to the ayah: ''And if they belie you, say: ''For me are my deeds and for you are your deeds! You are innocent of what I do, and I am innocent of what you do!''10:41.

Likewise, Allaah stated:

''So unto this (religion of Islaam, alone and this Qur'aan) then invite (people) (O Muhammad), and Istaqim [(i.e. stand firm and straight on Islaamic Monotheism by performing all that is ordained by Allaah (good deeds, etc.), and by abstaining from all that is forbidden by Allaah (sins and evil deeds, etc.)], as you are commanded, and follow not their desires but say: "I believe in whatsoever Allaah has sent down of the Book [all the holy Books, this Qur'aan and the Books of the old from the Tauraat (Torah), or the Injeel (Gospel) or the Pages of Ibraahim (Abraham)] and I am commanded to do justice among you, Allaah is our Lord and your Lord. For us our deeds and for you your deeds.''42:15

And indeed, some of the people also think that His (subhaanah) statement: ''To you be your Religion, and to me my Religion (Islaamic Monotheism) 109:1-6, means that: I (Muhammad) have neither been commanded to fight nor prohibited from it, and neither have I negated nor affirmed that''.

Rather this (ayah) means that your Religion (O Disbelievers) is for you and you are distinguished with it, and I am innocent of it.  And for me is my Religion and I am distinguished with it, and you are innocent of it.  This is an entirely clear affair that can never to be abrogated under any circumstances, just as He (Ta-aalaa) stated about Al-Khaleel (Ibraaheem-alayhis-salaam):

''And (remember) when Ibraaheem (Abraham) said to his father and his people: "Verily, I am innocent of what you worship, except Him (i.e. I worship none but Allaah Alone) Who did create me, and verily, He will guide me.''43:26-27

And He (subhaanah) said:

''And We have fastened every man's deeds to his neck''. 17:13; that is: man is tied to his good and bad (deeds).

Allaah said: ''No person earns any (sin) except against himself (only), and no bearer of burdens shall bear the burden of another''.6:164

Allaah said: ''He (the person) gets reward for that (good) which he has earned, and he is punished for that (evil) which he has earned''. 2:286

Allaah said: ''(And We said): "If you do good, you do good for your ownselves, and if you do evil (you do it) against yourselves.''17:7

Allaah said to His Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam):

''And be kind and humble to the believers who follow you.  Then if they disobey you, say: "I am innocent of what you do.''26:215-216

Therefore, if it is the case that Allaah has freed His Prophet from the sins of those believers amongst his followers who disobey him, then how can Allaah not free His Prophet from the disbelief of the disbelievers, who are severer in their disobedience and opposition?

SECTION: THE CHANGES THAT TOOK PLACE IN THE TORAH

It is well known to the Muslims, Jews and the Christians, that no apparent copies of the torah were available, except what was acquired from a small group of people after Baytul Maqdis was destroyed (i.e. its first destruction) and its inhabitants taken as captives; as they say: ''Indeed, it was Uzair (alayhis-salaam) who dictated (the Torah), and then they found another copy and approved it to be the one (dictated by Uzair)''.   Therefore, this approval was (carried out) with two copies, so one of the two must be erroneous.

And they said:  there were those amongst the kings who ordered 72 rabbis to transmit and examine these copies in the light of others.  If this is correct, then it cannot be ruled out that error could not have occurred in some of the wording, except with affirmation that it was either acquired from an infallible Prophet or that all its wording was attested to by an infallible Prophet; for whatever that infallible Prophet stated is true, and whatever was transmitted 'Mutawaatir' is true.

And those who say that some changes occurred in some of its wording during that time hold that it was neither acquired from an infallible prophet nor was it transmitted as 'Mutawaatir'.   And there are those Muslims and People of the Book who argued against this.  They say that it (the Torah) was acquired from Uzair, and he (alayhis-salaam) was an infallible Prophet.  This is what is in need of proof and a negation of its affirmation.

So, if the Christians say that the Messiah (alayhis-salaam) attested to the Torah, then it is said to them:  The Messiah (alayhis-salaam) could not have been able to make the Jews adhere to what Allaah obligated upon them of belief in Him and obedience to Him.  And how could he change the numerous copies of the Torah they had with them, whilst they sought to kill, crucify and maim him.  The Muslims say that the Jews did crucify someone who was made to take the likeness of the Messiah, and the Christians say that the Messiah was crucified.  Therefore, how could the Messiah rectify the alterations in the numerous copies of the Torah?   And as for those who came after the Messiah, they were fallible.

The Messiah changed some of the rulings in the Torah and attested to the majority of it.   The Muslims hold that Rulings can be abrogated and substituted by another ruling in opposition to its obligatory nature, and there is no need to substitute words in carrying that out; just as the Jews have substituted the law of  Stoning' with other than it.  This (substitution) in the Torah is in opposition to the reports (that establishes the law of stoning), and many (people) besides the Muslims have said that alterations have occurred in some of its wording.

As for the prophecies transmitted from the seventy-two prophets, then it is not known that all its wording was transmitted with Tawaatur from a single Prophethood; rather the best of it is graded on the rank of the Injeel and what has been transmitted from the statements of the Prophets and their biographies; such as (what is found) in the biographical works of Ibn Ishaaq, or (what is found) in some of the compilations of the Musnads and the Sunan.  Most of these transmissions are true and some are erroneous.

However, as for this ummah (of Muhammad), then Allaah has preserved what was sent down to them, as He (Ta-aalaa) said:

''Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Qur'aan) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption)'' 15:9

Indeed Allaah has established amongst this nation, those who will clarify the (errors) found in the tafseer of the Qur'an and that which is transmitted in the hadeeth and the wrong explanations attached to it.  These people present evidence against the errors of those who err and the lies of the liars; for this ummah (of Muhammad) does not unite upon misguidance.  If it is the case that the Muslims are the last nation, then there cannot cease to be a group amongst them manifest upon the truth until the establishment of the hour.  There is neither a prophet to come after the (advent) their prophet nor a Book to be revealed after the (revelation) of their Book.

And whenever the previous nations substituted and changed (the revelation of Allaah), Allaah sent a Prophet to enjoin (the laws of Allaah upon them) and forbade them (from misguidance).  However, there is no Prophet to come after Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam), and Allaah has guaranteed to protect what He has revealed to the (Ummah of Muhammad). This nation of (Muhammad) will not unite upon misguidance, and Allaah will establish in every era, those amongst the people of knowledge and people of the Qur'aan, who will preserve the Religion of Allaah and negate from it the distortions of those who go beyond bounds, the impersonation of the Liars and the false interpretations of the ignorant ones.

SECTION: THE SUBSTITUTION THAT TOOK PLACE IN THE INJEEL

Those who stated that some of the wording in the Injeel was changed after the sending of Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) say that:

There were clear wordings on affairs related to the name of Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) in the Torah, the Injeel and other than it, and some of the People of the Book intentionally changed some of these wordings found in the copies they had in their possession.  They did not say that those people of the Book responsible for such acts changed every copy that was to be found on the face of the earth; rather they changed some of the wordings in some copies.  Then the people transcribed numerous copies from those altered copies that became widespread.  So it became the case that the majority of what was in the possession of the People of the Book came from those altered copies.

There were other unchanged copies in the world.  Many people have mentioned that they saw and read (such copies), and that there was something else in them not found in other copies.  This shows that if you were to obtain copies of the Torah that are in the possession of the Jews, the Christians and the Samaritans in this present time, you will find contradictions between (such copies) in a number of places.

Likewise, the copies of the Zaboor and the Injeel are contradictory in such a manner that the Person of Sound Intellect will not be able to know if all the present copies of the Torah, the Injeel and the Zaboor are agreed upon a single wording, let alone the entire prophecies.

Indeed, it is well known that the People of the Book are not able to establish proof that all the copies in their different languages in every corner of the world are agreed upon a singular wording in everything regarding the prophecies.    The PROOF they offer to demonstrate that it is not possible for alterations to occur (in their Scriptures) is unreasonable knowledge in opposition to (sound) knowledge.

SECTION: THE RELIGION OF ALL THE PROPHETS IS ONE

And as for His (Ta-aalaa) statement:

''Say (O Muhammad ): ''O Al-Kaafiroon (disbelievers)!  I worship not that which you worship, Nor will you worship that which I worship. And I shall not worship that which you are worshipping. Nor will you worship that which I worship.  To you be your religion, and to me my religion (Islaamic monotheism)."  109:1-6

The above sura is a statement by which Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) is commanded to address all the disbelievers with; the idol worshippers, the Jews and the Christians (alike), because the People of the Book who did not believe in what was revealed to Muhammad from his Lord are disbelievers.  Indeed, he (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) confirmed that they are disbelievers, and he commanded that one is to strive against them in Allaah's path.  And the one who does not declare them disbelievers is to be declared a disbeliever.  Allaah (subhaanah) said:

''Those who disbelieve from among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) and among Al-Mushrikoon, were not going to leave (their disbelief) until there came to them clear evidence.''98:1

And He (subhaanah) said:

''Surely, they have disbelieved who say: "Allaah is the Messiah [Iesa (Jesus)], son of Maryam (Mary).''  Surely, disbelievers are those who said: ''Allaah is the third of the three (in a Trinity).''5:72 and 5:73

And He (subhaanah) said:

''Fight against those who believe not in Allaah, nor in the Last Day, nor forbid that which has been forbidden by Allaah and His Messenger and those who acknowledge not the religion of truth (i.e. Islaam) among the people of the Scripture (Jews  and Christians), until they pay the Jizyah with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued''. 9:29

THE CHRISTIANS ARE UPON SHIRK

The Christians have been described to be upon shirk, and that is because they direct worship to other than Allaah (subhaanah), as He (subhaanah) said:

''They (Jews and Christians) took their rabbis and their monks to be their lords besides Allaah (by obeying them in things which they made lawful or unlawful according to their own desires without being ordered by Allaah), and (they also took as their Lord) Messiah, son of Maryam (Mary), while they (Jews and Christians) were commanded [in the Tauraaat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)) to worship none but One Ilaah (God - Allaah) Laa ilaaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). Praise and glory be to Him, (far above is He) from having the partners they associate (with Him).''9:31

So Allaah (subhaanah) informed (us) that they took lords besides Him, and that they took the Messiah as a lord, while they were commanded to worship One Ilaah (One God).  Allaah said:

''It is not (possible) for any human being to whom Allaah has given the Book and Al-Hukma (the knowledge and understanding of the laws of religion, etc.) and Prophethood to say to the people: ''Be my worshippers rather than Allaah's.'' On the contrary (he would say): ''Be you Rabbaniyyoon (learned men of religion who practise what they know and also preach others), because you are teaching the Book, and you are studying it.  Nor would he order you to take angels and Prophets for lords (gods). Would he order you to disbelieve after you have submitted to Allaah's Will''? 3:79-80

Allaah (also) stated that the who takes the Angels and the Prophets as lords is a kaafir.  He (subhaanah) said:

''Surely, disbelievers are those who said: ''Allaah is the third of the three (in a Trinity).''But there is no ilaah (god) (none who has the right to be worshipped) but One Ilaah (God -Allaah). And if they cease not from what they say, verily, a painful torment will befall the disbelievers among them.  Will they not repent to Allaah and ask His Forgiveness? For Allaah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.  The Messiah [Iesa (Jesus)], son of Maryam (Mary), was no more than a Messenger; many were the Messengers that passed away before him. His mother [Maryam (Mary)] was a Siddiqah [i.e. she believed in the words of Allaah and His Books. They both used to eat food (as any other human being, while Allaah does not eat). Look how We make the Ayaat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) clear to them, yet look how they are deluded away (from the truth).   Say (O Muhammad to mankind): "How do you worship besides Allaah something which   has no power either to harm or to benefit you? But it is Allaah Who is the All Hearer, All Knower.'' 5:73-76

Therefore, the people of the cross have been censured due to the fact that they worship that which has no power either to harm or benefit, and Allaah is The All-Hearer, The All-knower.  They are included in the statement of Allaah:

''Say (O Muhammad): ''O Al-Kaafiroon! I worship not that which you worship, Nor will you worship that which I worship''just as other than them from amongst the kuffaar are included.   The Jews are (also) included in this.  They are the first to be included besides others, because the statement of Allaah: ''That which you worship'' denotes a description of an object of worship, and the Deity worshipped by the Muslims is the One Who revealed the Torah and the Injeel, and is the One Who sent Moosaa, Eesa and Muhammad (salawaatullaahi-alayhim-wasalaamuhu).  The Jews and Christians do not worship the Deity described with these Attributes.

The above (ayah) is also similar to the statement of Allaah:

''Or were you witnesses when death approached Ya'qoob (Jacob)? When he said unto his sons, ''What will you worship after me?'' They said, ''We shall worship your Ilaah (God - Allaah), the Ilaah (God) of your fathers, Ibraaheem (Abraham), Ismaaıeell (Ishmael), Ishaaq (Isaac), One Ilaah (God), and to Him we submit (in Islaam).''2:133

Therefore, the Deity worshipped by Muhammad and his ummah worships is not the Deity worshipped by the people of shirk.  He (subhaanah) has the right to be worshipped (alone), but (the people of shirk) associate partners with Him (in worship) and describe Him with what He has freed Himself from.  The (people of shirk) do not make the Religion purely for Allaah, so they worship others along with Him and disdain to worship Him (alone).

Indeed, the condition between the slave and the deity he worships with actions, is not the same between him and the True Deity Who deserves to be worshipped (alone), yet the slave does not worship Him (alone); rather he associates partners with Him in worship or disdains to worship Him (alone).  This is what is contained in the statement:  ''I worship not that which you worship''.

Shirk is prevalent amongst the Christians and Pride is prevalent amongst the Yahood.

SECTION: THE MEANING OF KALIMATULLAAH  (THE WORD OF ALLAAH)

They (Christians) say that Allaah said:  ''And to Moosaa (Moses) Allaah spoke directly''4:164

THE RESPONSE:

What proof is there for you (Christians) in this?  Rather, it is a proof against you, for indeed it establishes that Allaah spoke to Moosaa directly, and the Messiah was not the Speech of Allaah heard by Moosaa.  It is well known that the Messiah is not Allaah's Speech.

You Christians hold that the Messiah is The Word of Allaah, The Knowledge of Allaah and that the Messiah is Allaah.  It is well known that Allaah's Speech is many, such as the Torah, The Injeel, and the Qur'aan and other than that of His Speech.  The Messiah forms no part in this.

You Christians regard the Messiah a creator.  If the Messiah was himself the Speech of Allaah, then he can be neither a creator nor one to be worshipped.  That is because the speech of Allaah is not a God that is worshipped; rather the Speech of Allaah is like the rest of His Attributes, such as His Hayaat (Life) and His Qudra (Ability).

And no one says, ''O Knowledge of Allaah forgive me'', or ''O Speech of Allaah forgive me''; rather the God (Allaah) who is described as having (Knowledge and Ability, and the One Who spoke to Musa directly), is the God to be worshipped and invoked.

SECTION: THE MEANING OF THE AYAH:

''And We breathed into (the sleeve) of her shirt or garment) through Our Rooh''66:12

The Christians say that Allaah has also stated in Sura At-Tahreem:

''And Maryam (Mary), the daughter of 'Imraan who guarded her chastity; and We breathed into (the sleeve of her shirt or her garment) through Our Rooh, and she testified to the truth of the Words of her Lord [i.e. believed in the Words of Allaah: and (also believed in) His Scriptures, and she was of the Qaaniteen (i.e. obedient to Allaah)''

THE RESPONSE:

As for Allaah's statement:

''And We breathed into (the sleeve of her shirt or her garment) through Our Rooh'' and also the statement of Allaah in sura al-Anbiyaa: ''And (remember) she who guarded her chastity [Virgin Maryam (Mary)], We breathed into (the sleeves ofher shirt or garment) [through Our Rooh, and We made her and her son 'Iesa (Jesus)] a sign for Al-'Alamin (the mankind and jinns)''.

The above (two ayaat) are explained by the statement of Allaah, as follows:

''Then We sent to her Our Rooh [angel Jibrael (Gabriel)], and he appeared before her in the form of a man in all respects. She said: ''Verily! I seek refuge with the Most Beneficent (Allaah) from you, if you do fear Allaah.  (The angel) said: ''I am only a Messenger from your Lord, (to announce) to you the gift of a righteous son.''

Allaah informed (us) that it was His Messenger and Rooh (i.e. Angel Jibrael), who appeared before (Maryam) in the form of a man and informed her that he was a Messenger of Allaah sent to her.  So what is known is that Allaah's Rooh (mentioned in this ayah) is a created being and a slave of His (i.e. Jibreal).  The intended meaning is not that Allaah's Rooh is His Hayaat (Life), which is an Attribute of His (Subhaanah).

Likewise, is the statement of Allaah:

''So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (Adam) Min Roohee (the soul which I created for him)'' 15:29

And Allaah has also likened the Messiah to Aadam.  Allaah said:

''Verily, the likeness of Iesa (Jesus) before Allaah is the likeness of Adam. He created him from dust, then (He) said to him: "Be!-and he was''. 3:59

SECTION: THE TRINITY

The Christians say: ''Allaah is One God, One Creator, One Lord, and He is The Truth.  However, what the Christians hold as belief is in contradiction to this statement of theirs; for they say: ''we Christians believe in One Lord, and the Messiah is the Only begotten son of Allaah, and he a true god from a true god, and he is from the Essence of his father, and he is the same as the Father in Essence.''  Therefore, they affirm two gods.   They (also) say, ''indeed the Holy Spirit is also to be prayed to.''  Therefore, they affirmed three Gods, but said: ''Indeed, we only affirm the existence of One God.''

This (above statement of the Christians) is a plain contradiction.  It is gathered upon contradictions and upon affirmation of (one thing) and then a negation of (it).  And due to this, a group of the people of sound reasoning) said:

''Indeed, it may be possible to conceive the statements of all the people, except that of the Christians.  The Christians who utter these (statements) are not able to conceive what they say; rather they speak out of ignorance and gather their statements upon contradictions.''

And some of the people of sound reasoning said:

''Were ten Christians to gather together, they would differ on eleven statements.''

And another group of the people of sound reasoning said:

''Were you to ask some of the Christians, their wives and sons about Tawheed (in their Religion), the man would make one statement, the wife would make another statement, and the son would utter a third (different) statement.''

SECTION: AND THEY SAY, ''ALLAAH SAID, ''AND TO ISAA, THE SON OF MARYAM, WE GAVE CLEAR PROOFS AND EVIDENCES''

And as for their saying, that (Allaah) said: ''And to Isaa, the son of Maryam, We gave clear proofs and evidences, and supported him with Roohul Qodus.''

The above statement of Allaah is the haqq, just as He stated.  He (subhaanah) has (also) stated in a number of places (in the Qur'aan), that He supported Isaa son of Maryam with the Roohul Qodus.

Allaah stated in Suratul Baqarah:

''Those Messengers! We preferred some of them to others; to some of them Allaah spoke (directly); others He raised to degrees (of honour); and to Isaa, the son of Maryam, We gave clear proofs and evidences, and supported him with Roohul Qodus (Jibreel)'' 2:253

And He (Ta-aalaa) said:

''Those Messengers! We preferred some of them to others; to some of them Allaah spoke (directly); others He raised to degrees (of honour); and to Isaa, the son of Maryam, We gave clear proofs and evidences, and supported him with Roohul Qodus (i.e. Jibreel).  If Allaah had willed, succeeding generations would not have fought against each other, after clear Verses of Allaah had come to them, but they differed-some of them believed and others disbelieved.  If Allaah had willed, they would not have fought against one another, but Allaah does what He likes.''2:253

And He (subhaanah) said:

''O Isaa, son of Maryam! Remember My Favour to you and to your mother when I supported you with Roohul Qodus (Jibreel) so that you spoke to the people in the cradle and in maturity; and when I taught you writing, Al-Hikmah (the power of understanding), the Tauraat and Injeel; and when you made out of the clay, a figure like that of a bird, by My Permission, and you breathed into it, and it became a bird by My Permission, and you healed those born blind, and the lepers by My Permission'' 5:110

And He (subhaanah) said:

''And when We change a Verse (of the Qur'aan) in place of another-and Allaah knows best what He sends down-they (the disbelievers) say: 'You (O Muhammad) are but a Muftari! (forger, liar).' Nay, but most of them know not.  Say (O Muhammad) Roohul Qodus (Jibreel) has brought it (the Qur'aan) down from your Lord with truth'' 16:101-102

And He (subhaanah) said:

''Which the trustworthy Rooh (Jibreel) has brought down upon your heart (O Muhammad), that you may be (one) of the warners'' 26:193-194

And He (subhaanah) said:

''Say (O Muhammad): ''Whoever is an enemy to (Jibreel) (let him die in his fury), for indeed he has brought it (this Qur'aan) down to your heart by Allaah's Permission'' 2:97

So the Roohul Qodus, who brought down the Qur'aan from Allaah is the Roohul Ameen [the trustworthy Rooh (i.e.Gibreel-alyahis Salaam)].

THE MENTION OF RUUHUL QUDUS IN THE SUNNAH

Abu Hurairah (radiyallaahu-anhu) said that he heard the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) saying to Hassaan Bin Thaabit: ''O Allah! Support him with the Roohul Qodus'' (Bukhaari: The Book of Jihaad, No: 3212)

It has (also) been reported from Aa-isha (radiyallaahu-anhu) in Saheeh Muslim and others, that she said: ''I heard the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) saying to Hassaan Bin Thaabit: ''Verily the Roohul Qodus will continue to support you so long as you put up a defence on behalf of Allah and His Messenger'' (Reported by Muslim: The Virtues of the Sahaabah)

And it has (also) been reported in the Bukhaari and Muslim on the authority of Al-Baraa-a Ibn Aazib (radiyallaahu-anhu), who said: ''I heard the Messenger of Allaah (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) saying to Hassaan Bin Thaabit: ''Ridicule the Mushriks, for Jibreel is with you'' (Bukhaari, No:3213)

So when Hassaan Bin Thaabit defended the cause of Allaah and His Messenger and ridiculed those who belied the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam), Allaah supported him with the [Roohul Qudus(Jibreel- alayhis-salaam)].  And indeed, the people of the earth know that Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) did not say that Hassaan Bin Thaabit was united with God.  Therefore, when the Prophet stated that Allaah supported Hassan Bin Thaabit with the Roohul Qodus, he did not imply that a human being was united with God.

And being supported with the Roohul Qodus is not something specific to the Messiah.  The people of the Book testify that the prophets other than the Messiah were supported with the Roohul Qodus, such as Dawood and other than him; rather they (also) stated that the Roohul Qudus used to be with the Disciples.

And it has been confirmed with consensus between the Muslims, the Christians and the Jews, that the Roohul Qodus can be with other than the Messiah; rather it can be with other than the Prophets.

THE ROOHUL QODUS''

Therefore, the support Allaah gave, as mentioned in the ayah, is similar to His statement:

''You (O Muhammad) will not find any people who believe in Allaah and the Last Day, making friendship with those who oppose Allaah and His Messenger (Muhammad), even though they were their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their kindred (people).  For such He has written Faith in their hearts, and strengthened them with Rooh (proofs, light and true guidance) from Himself'' 58:22

So, being strengthened with Rooh (proofs, light and true guidance) from Allaah, is (strength that is utilized) against all those who do not follow the Messengers, even if (such ones) are (the believer's) close relatives.  The believer loves those who believe in the Messengers even if they are not related to him, and he has hatred for those who do not believe in the Messengers, even if they are his close relatives.  This is the Religion of Ibraaheem (alayhis-salaam), as Allaah (subhaanah) stated:

''Indeed there has been an excellent example for you in Ibraaheem and those with him, when they said to their people: 'Verily, we are free from you and whatever you worship besides Allaah: we have rejected you, and there has started between us and you, hostility and hatred for ever until you believe in Allaah Alone'' 60:4

And Allaah said:

''And (remember) when Ibraaheem said to his father and his people: ''Verily, I am innocent of what you worship, except Him (i.e. Allaah Alone I worship) Who did create me; and verily, he will guide me. And he made it [laa-ilaaha-ilal-lah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allaah Alone)] a Word lasting among his offspring, that they may turn back (i.e. to repent to Allaah or receive admonition) 43:26-28

And this support that Allaah gives through the Roohul Qodus is (given) to the one who supports the Messengers.  This support is (given) to everyone who aids the Messengers against those who oppose them from amongst the idol worshippers and the people of the Scripture.
