Misconception: Muslims hate Jesus

Many non-Muslims are surprised to find out that according to Muslim belief, Jesus, the son of Mary, is one of the greatest messengers of God. Muslims are taught to love Jesus, and a person cannot be a Muslim without believing in the virgin birth and miracles of Jesus Christ, peace be upon him. Muslims believe these things about Jesus not because of the Bible or any other religion, but simply because the Holy Qur'an says these things about him. However, Muslims always emphasize that the miracles of Jesus, and all other prophets, were by "God's permission".

This having been said, many Christians feel to not believe that Jesus is the "Son of God", "God Incarnate" or the "Third Person" of the Trinity. This is because the Qur'an clearly says that Almighty God does not have a "Son" --- neither allegorically, physically, metaphorically or metaphysically. The Pure Monotheism of Islam rejects the notion of "defining" God (which is basically what the "Doctrine of the Trinity" does), saying that someone is "like" God or equal to him, or praying to someone else besides God. Also, Islam teaches that titles such as "Lord" and "Savior" are due to God alone.

In order to avoid misunderstanding, it should be clarified that when Muslims criticize the Bible or the teachings of Christianity, they are not attacking "God's Word" or Jesus Christ, peace be upon him. From the Muslim point of view, they are defending Jesus and God's Word --which they have in the form of the Qur'an. Muslim criticism is targeted at writings that some people claim are God's word, but Muslim's simply don't accept their claim that they are really God's word in toto.

Additionally, Christian doctrines such as the Trinity and the Atonement are criticized by Muslims precisely because they did not originate from Jesus, peace be upon him. In this way, Muslims are the true followers of Jesus, peace be upon him, because they defend him from the exaggerations of the Christians and teach the Pure Monotheism that Jesus himself followed.

The Basis of The Religion of the Christians (i.e. Those Christians Who Innovated and Altered the True Religion of the Messiah) Is Founded upon Insulting Allaah, Association of Partners with Him in Worship and the Evil Superstition of Self-Sacrifice (Through the Crucifixion)

Section: And if the one who (seeks) to shame the Muslims is a Christian and from the worshippers of the cross, and (from those who worship) pictures depicted in Fish and drawings on Roofs; then it is said to him:

''Are you not ashamed of the foundation of the belief in your Religion; that the Lord of the heavens and the earth (Tabaaraka-Wata-Alaa) descended from His Great Throne and entered into the vulva of a woman, who eats and drinks, urinates and defecates, menstruates and feels pain in her stomach, and then he stayed there for nine months between the faeces, urine, blood and menstrual discharges.  Then he is placed in a swaddle or a bed, and whenever he cries his mother breast feeds him, and then he is placed in a school amongst the children.

Then his affair became an issue of argumentation and contempt for the Jews.  They pursued him and spit in his face.  They placed a spiky crown on his head and a rod in his hand in order to belittle and violate his honour.  Then they designated a special place for him to climb in order to put him to trail, and were violent towards him. They tied him with ropes and nailed his two hands and feet, until he started screaming and cried for help, due to (exposure) to severe heat and the pain of crucifixion.

This is the one who created the heavens and the earth, portioned out provision and determined life-spans!; and his mercy and wisdom necessitated that his enemies saw it fit to harm him!; and his (mercy and wisdom) necessitated that he sacrificed himself in order to save his prophets, messengers and close friends!; because according to the Christians, the souls of Aadam, Ibraaheem, Nooh and all the prophets were captured in Iblee's prison in the hell fire, up until they were freed from that prison through the crucifixion of the lord at the hand of his enemies.

The Sins Of The People Of Tawheed Amongst The Muslims Is Like A Spittle In The Sea Compared To The Great Sins Of The Jews And The Christians

Firstly, sin and disobedience is something common between all the nations.  It is something that has not cease to exist in the world amongst the Children of Aadam with their different social classes; (be it with) the common people, the ignorant, those who abstain from the worldly things and those desirous of it, the leaders and those under their rule.   This affair of (sin and disobedience) is not something specific to this ummah, so that (the ummah) and its Prophet are censured as a result of that.

Sin and disobedience does not negate belief in the Messengers, for it can be possible for sin and disobedience to exist alongside belief in the Messengers.  And although disobedience diminishes the perfection and completeness of belief in the Messengers, however it does not negate it.

Secondly, sins are wiped away through sincere repentance.  Allaah forgives the slave when he turns repentant to Him (subhaanah), even if his sins fill the heavens and are of a great number.  Allaah said:

'Say: "O 'Ibaadee (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allaah, verily Allaah forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful' 39:53

This is the right of the one who repents; because repentance wipes away the sin before it.  So the one who repents from a sin is like one without that sin.  And Tawheed wipes away sins, as (mentioned) in the Hadeethul Qudsiyy:

'O Son of Adam, if you were to meet Me with enough sins to fill the earth, then met Me, not associating anything with Me (in worship), I shall meet you with its equivalent in forgiveness.'

Therefore, strong Tawheed wipes away the sins of the Muslims.  And if punished for their sins, they will be removed from the fire as a result of their belief in Tawheed.

As for the people of shirk and the disbelievers, their good deeds are nullified as result of the disbelief and shirk they are upon.  They will neither meet their Lord with good deeds in order to obtain safety nor will they be forgiven any of their sins.  Allaah (subhaanah) said:

'Verily, Allaah forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases' 4:48

Allaah said:

'And We shall turn to whatever deeds they did, and We shall make such deeds as scattered floating particles of dust.' 25:23

THE SINS OF THE NATIONS IS NEITHER A CENSURE AGAINST THE MESSENGERS NOR AGAINST THEIR MESSAGE

THE QUESTIONER (A CHRISTIAN) SAID:

We have seen much evil in your religion, (i.e. muslims), such as adultery, homosexuality, treachery, envy, miserliness, deception, haughtiness, pride, arrogance, impiety, lack of certainty, mercilessness, lack of good character, fanaticism, restlessness, greed for the dunyah and laziness in performing good deeds; from one who possesses much knowledge and understanding in your Religion.  This state of affairs belies what is stated of speech (regarding piety etc).

The Answer To The Above Is:

Firstly, what has the noble Messengers to do with the sins of their nations and followers, and should that be a censure against anything in their Prophet-hood or an alteration of their message?!  Is (anyone) safe from sins of all types and categories except the Messengers?!  And is it permissible to reject their Message and belie them due to the sins of some of their followers?!  Can this (statement) be except from one who is most sinful?!

His (this person's) situation is that of a sick man whom a doctor advice towards the means by which he may attain very good health, so he says:

''Had you been a doctor such and such an individual would not have been sick''!

Is it binding on the Messengers to cure all the sick to the extent that not a single person in the world remains sick?  Has anyone amongst the people harassed the Messengers with the likes of this harassment?!

A Lesson for the Archbishop of Canterbury In The Story of Heraclius of Rome? Filed under: General and World Religions at 6:50 am

Heraclius, The Roman- Head of the Christians of Sham

Recently the Archbishop of Canterbury, the head of the Anglican Church, Dr Rowen Williams suggested that parts of Islamic Sharıiah law be recognised and incorporated into British law. Politicians and media alike immediately turned against him and launched a relentless attack upon him calling for his retraction, and even his resignation. It seems that Dr. Williams is not free to think, and not free to say what he feels in this land of free-speech and democracy. If a person like the Archbishop expresses something that goes against the perceived norms, he is harrassed, bullied, humiliated and forced out of office - he is made an example of, and a deterrent to others who maybe thinking of rocking the boat and challenge established doctrines. This is a good time for Chritians who are just-minded to ponder over Islam and its message that calls to the worship of the one and sole creator of the heavens and earth, Almighty God.

One of the disciples of the Prophet Muhammad, Abdullah bin Abbaas said:
Abu Sufyan bin Harb informed me that Heraclius had sent a messenger to him while he had been accompanying a caravan from Quraish. They were merchants doing business in Sham (Syria, Palestine, Lebanon and Jordan), at the time when Allah's Apostle had truce with Abu Sufyan and Quraish infidels. So Abu Sufyan and his companions went to Heraclius at Ilya (Jerusalem).

Heraclius called them in the court and he had all the senior Roman dignitaries around him. He called for his translator who, translating Heraclius's question said to them, ''Who amongst you is closely related to that man who claims to be a Prophet? Abu Sufyan replied, ''I am the nearest relative to him (amongst the group).''

Heraclius said, ''Bring him (Abu Sufyan) close to me and make his companions stand behind him.'' Abu Sufyan added, Heraclius told his translator to tell my companions that he wanted to put some questions to me regarding that man (The Prophet) and that if I told a lie they (my companions) should contradict me.'' Abu Sufyan added, ''By Allah! Had I not been afraid of my companions labeling me a liar, I would not have spoken the truth about the Prophet. The first question he asked me about him was:

''What is his family status amongst you?''

I replied, ''He belongs to a good (noble) family amongst us.''
Heraclius further asked, ''Has anybody amongst you ever claimed the same (i.e. to be a Prophet) before him?''

I replied, ''No.''

He said, ''Was anybody amongst his ancestors a king?''

I replied, ''No.''

Heraclius asked, ''Do the nobles or the poor follow him?''

I replied, ''It is the poor who follow him.''

He said, ''Are his followers increasing decreasing (day by day)?''

I replied, ''They are increasing.''

He then asked, ''Does anybody amongst those who embrace his religion become displeased and renounce the religion afterwards?''

I replied, ''No.''

Heraclius said, ''Have you ever accused him of telling lies before his claim (to be a Prophet)?''

I replied, ''No.''
Heraclius said, ''Does he break his promises?''

I replied, ''No. We are at truce with him but we do not know what he will do in it.'' I could not find opportunity to say anything against him except that.

Heraclius asked, ''Have you ever had a war with him?ı
I replied, ''Yes.''

Then he said, ''What was the outcome of the battles?''
I replied, ''Sometimes he was victorious and sometimes we.''

Heraclius said, ''What does he order you to do?''

I said, ''He tells us to worship Allah and Allah alone and not to worship anything along with Him, and to renounce all that our ancestors had said. He orders us to pray, to speak the truth, to be chaste and to keep good relations with our Kith and kin.''

Heraclius asked the translator to convey to me the following, I asked you about his family and your reply was that he belonged to a very noble family. In fact all the Apostles come from noble families amongst their respective peoples. I questioned you whether anybody else amongst you claimed such a thing, your reply was in the negative. If the answer had been in the affirmative, I would have thought that this man was following the previous manıs statement. Then I asked you whether anyone of his ancestors was a king. Your reply was in the negative, and if it had been in the affirmative, I would have thought that this man wanted to take back his ancestral kingdom.

I further asked whether he was ever accused of telling lies before he said what he said, and your reply was in the negative. So I wondered how a person who does not tell a lie about others could ever tell a lie about Allah. I, then asked you whether the rich people followed him or the poor. You replied that it was the poor who followed him.

And in fact all the Apostle have been followed by this very class of people. Then I asked you whether his followers were increasing or decreasing. You replied that they were increasing, and in fact this is the way of true faith, till it is complete in all respects. I further asked you whether there was anybody, who, after embracing his religion, became displeased and discarded his religion. Your reply was in the negative, and in fact this is (the sign of) true faith, when its delight enters the hearts and mixes with them completely.

I asked you whether he had ever betrayed. You replied in the negative and likewise the Apostles never betray. Then I asked you what he ordered you to do. You replied that he ordered you to worship Allah and Allah alone and not to worship any thing along with Him and forbade you to worship idols and ordered you to pray, to speak the truth and to be chaste.

If what you have said is true, he will very soon occupy this place underneath my feet and I knew it (from the scriptures) that he was going to appear but I did not know that he would be from you, and if I could reach him definitely, I would go immediately to meet him and if I were with him, I would certainly wash his feet.''

Heraclius then asked for the letter addressed by Allah's Apostle which was delivered by Dihya to the Governor of Busra, who forwarded it to Heraclius to read. The contents of the letter were as follows: ''In the name of Allah the Beneficent, the Merciful (This letter is) from Muhammad the slave of Allah and His Apostle to Heraclius the ruler of Byzantine. Peace be upon him, who follows the right path. Furthermore I invite you to Islam, and if you become a Muslim you will be safe, and Allah will double your reward, and if you reject this invitation of Islam you will be committing a sin by misguiding your Arisiyin (peasants). (And I recite to you Allahıs Statement:)

''O people of the scripture! Come to a word common to you and us that we worship none but Allah and that we associate nothing in worship with Him, and that none of us shall take others as Lords beside Allah. Then, if they turn away, say: Bear witness that we are Muslims (those who have surrendered to Allah).'' (3:64).

Abu Sufyan then added, ''When Heraclius had finished his speech and had read the letter, there was a great hue and cry in the Royal Court. So we were turned out of the court. I told my companions that the question of Ibn-Abi-Kabsha (refering to the Prophet Muhammad) has become so prominent that even the King of Bani Al-Asfar (Byzantine) is afraid of him. Then I started to become sure that he (the Prophet) would be the conqueror in the near future till I embraced Islam (i.e. Allah guided me to it).''

The sub narrator adds, ''Ibn An-Natur was the Governor of llya' (Jerusalem) and Heraclius was the head of the Christians of Sham. Ibn An-Natur narrates that once while Heraclius was visiting ilya' (Jerusalem), he got up in the morning with a sad mood. Some of his priests asked him why he was in that mood? Heraclius was a foreteller and an astrologer.

He replied, ''At night when I looked at the stars, I saw that the leader of those who practice circumcision had appeared (become the conqueror). Who are they who practice circumcision?'' The people replied, ''Except the Jews nobody practices circumcision, so you should not be afraid of them (Jews).

''Just Issue orders to kill every Jew present in the country.''
While they were discussing it, a messenger sent by the king of Ghassan to convey the news of Allah's Apostle to Heraclius was brought in. Having heard the news, he (Heraclius) ordered the people to go and see whether the messenger of Ghassan was circumcised. The people, after seeing him, told Heraclius that he was circumcised. Heraclius then asked him about the Arabs.

The messenger replied, ''Arabs also practice circumcision.''
(After hearing that) Heraclius remarked that sovereignty of the Arabs had appeared. Heraclius then wrote a letter to his friend in rome who was as good as Heraclius in knowledge. Heraclius then left for Homs. (a town in Syrian and stayed there till he received the reply of his letter from his friend who agreed with him in his opinion about the emergence of the Prophet and the fact that he was a Prophet.

On that Heraclius invited all the heads of the Byzantines to assemble in his palace at Homs. When they assembled, he ordered that all the doors of his palace be closed. Then he came out and said, ''O Byzantines! If success is your desire and if you seek right guidance and want your empire to remain then give a pledge of allegiance to this Prophet (i.e. embrace Islam).

(On hearing the views of Heraclius) the people ran towards the gates of the palace like onagers but found the doors closed. Heraclius realized their hatred towards Islam and when he lost the hope of their embracing Islam, he ordered that they should be brought back in audience.
(When they returned) he said, ''What already said was just to test the strength of your conviction and I have seen it.ı The people prostrated before him and became pleased with him, and this was the end of Heracliusıs story (in connection with his faith).

CONCERNING THE STATEMENT:''THE PEOPLE OF THE BOOK ARE NOT DISBELIEVERS''

This statement is clear kufr and the one who holds it as belief is an apostate from Islaam.  Allaah (ta-aalaa) said:

''O people of the Scripture! (Jews and Christians): ''Why do you disbelieve in the Ayaat of Allaah, [the Verses about Prophet Muhammad present in the Tauraat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] while you (yourselves) bear witness (to their truth).''3:70

And He (subhaanah) said:

''Fight against those who believe not in Allaah, nor in the Last Day, nor forbid that which has been forbidden by Allaah and His Messenger and those who acknowledge not the religion of truth (i.e. Islaam) among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), until they pay the Jizyah with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.'' 9:29

The ayaat with this meaning are numerous.  And the ruling of disbelief (passed) upon those among the people of the Scripture who do not believe in the Messengership of Muhammad is a decisive ruling in Islaam.  Therefore, whoever does not declare them disbelievers is a disbeliever (himself); because he is one who has belied the texts of the Qur'aan and the Sunnah.

SECTION: The Claim Of The Christians, That The Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) Used To Harbour Doubt About What Came To Him (Of The Revelation)

And as for the statement of the (Christians), that: ''Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) used to doubt that which he came with''(i.e. the revelation). This (statement of the Christians) is a manifest lie.

Allaah (subhaanah) said:

''Say: (O Muhammad to polytheists, pagans) ''Call upon those whom you assert (to be associate gods) besides Allaah, they possess not even an atom's (or a small ant's) weight either in the heavens or on earth, nor have they any share in either, nor there is for him any supporter from among them.''

''Intercession with Him profits not except for him whom He permits.  So much so that when fear is banished from their (angels') hearts, they (angels) say: 'What is it that your Lord has said?'  They say: 'The truth.  And He is the Most High, The Most Great.''

''Say (O Muhammad to polytheists, pagans): Who gives you provision from the heavens and the earth?' Say: Allaah.  And verily (either) we or you are rightly guided or in plain error''

''Say (O Muhammad to polytheists, pagans): ''You will not be asked about our sins, nor shall we be asked of what you do.  Say: 'Our Lord will assemble us all together (on the Day of Resurrection), then He will judge between us with truth.  And He is the Just Judge, The All-Knower of the true state of affairs'' 34:22-26

Indeed, after he (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) called them to Tawheed, and clarified that that which they invoked besides Allaah possessed not even an atom's weight either in the heavens or on the earth, nor have they any share in either, nor is there for (Allaah) any supporter from them, and that intercession with (Allaah) cannot profit except by (Allaah's) permission; he (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) through (this statement) negated all  aspects of shirk.

For that which they associate as partners with (Allaah) should either be possessors of dominion or sharers in that, or possessors of both.  If these (three affairs) are negated, then nothing else remains except intercession.  And intercession is supplication made on your behalf and it cannot benefit except for him whom Allaah permits.

He mentioned that there is no Provider Who either provides from the heavens or on earth except Allaah.  This is a demonstrated of Tawheed, which is similar to the statement of Allaah:

''And whatever of blessings and good things you have, it is from Allaah.  Then, when harm touches you, unto Him you cry aloud for help.  Then, when He has removed the harm from you, behold! Some of you associate others in worship with their Lord (Allaah).  So (as a result of that) they deny (with ungratefulness) that (Allaah's Favours) which We have bestowed on them!  Then enjoy yourselves (your short stay), but you will come to know (with regrets)''16:53-55

So after he (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) mentioned that which demonstrated the obligation of the Tawheed of (Allaah), and that the people of Tawheed are the ones upon guidance and that the people of shirk are the ones upon misguidance; he then stated:''And verily, (either) we or you are rightly guided or in plain error.''  This means: ''verily one of the two parties, the people of Tawheed [those who worship Al-Haqq (Allaah)] or the people of shirk are guided or in plain error.''

This (the above statement) is impartial speech, which when heard by anyone, (be he an ally or an enemy) would say to the one who used such an address: ''Indeed you have done justice to your companion''.  It is similar to what a just person (whose justice is manifested) says to an oppressor (whose oppression is manifested), that either you or I (are upon that which is right).

So there is no doubt in such a clearly manifested affair; rather it is a clarification that one of us is the manifest oppressor.  It is a clarification that the people of Tawheed are upon guidance and that the people of shirk are upon misguidance.

Imaam Muhammad Bin Abdul Wahhaab (rahimahullaah) said in Masaa-ilil Jaahiliyyah (The 113th Affair): 'Mixing Truth With Falsehood'

Sheikh Saaleh al Fawzaan (hafidha-hullaah) commented on the above, saying:

From the (common practices and habits) of the disbelievers and the people of the Era of Pre-Islaamic Ignorance, amongst them the Jews, the Christians and other than them: Is that they mix truth falsehood.ıı

And ''Al-Labsu'' is to mix.  So they mix truth with falsehood for the purpose of spreading falsehood; because had falsehood been on its own, no one will accept it.  However, when (falsehood) is mixed with truth, the gullible and short sighted ones amongst the believers will accept it and then say: ''there is truth in this'' and then accept all of it.  And had they only accepted the truth from that, they would have seen the falsehood in it, and this would have been much better; but it is error to accept all of it.

Therefore, it is incumbent upon the people of sound perception and sound intellect, that they do not merely accept the affairs; rather they should clarify and examine it, so as to accept the truth and reject the falsehood in it.

Indeed, the disbelievers do make a mention of the truth, (but) neither out of a desire for the truth nor love of it; rather they make a mention of it for the purpose of propagating falsehood.  Therefore, it is obligatory to pay attention to this affair, and that is to make tamyeez of the affairs (i.e. to make a distinction between the affairs), and not rush to accept (the affairs) when the light of truth is manifested in them, until clarification and examination (takes place), and that which is truth is taken and that which is falsehood rejected.  This is what is taught by the people of knowledge and clear sightedness.

As for the common folk, the ignoramuses and the short sighted ones, they are deceived and tricked by these affairs.  And what is obligatory upon them is to ask the people of knowledge and consult the people of sound perception before accepting (such affairs), in order to be safe from distortions/misrepresentations.

THE JEWS TESTIFY TO JIBT AND TAAGHUUT

Imaam Muhammad Bin Abdul Wahhaab (rahimahullaah) stated in Masaa-ilil
Jaahiliyyah: [Belief In Jibt And Taaghoot]

Sheikh Saaleh al Fawzaan (hafidha-hullaah) comments on the (above) statement, saying:

He (subhaanah) said:

''Have you not seen those who were given a portion of the scripture? They believe in Jibt and Taaghoot'' 4:51

It is said that ''Al-Jibt'' is Magic, and that it is 'Shaytaan'.  And 'Taaghoot' is that which oversteps the boundaries imposed by Allaah.

The Reason For The Sending Down Of  This (Above) Ayah:

After the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) migrated to Madina, he made a treaty with the Jews of Madina, that they shall not fight the Muslims and that they will defend Madina from those who harbour evil intentions towards it.  They (Jews) settled the treaty based on that.

When they felt straitened by the Prophet and his companions, and saw that Islaam was becoming victorious and was expanding, they took that as an excuse and went to the Quraish at Makkah.  They appealed to them (the Quraish) for assistance against Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam), and that Quraish should fight alongside them against the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alahi-wasallam).

Allaah then caused Quraish to ask (the Jews) some (questions), so (the Quraish) said to them:

''You (Jews) are People of the Scripture, so who is upon the truth, Muhammad or us?!' The Jews then asked the (Quraish): 'What are you (Quraish) upon?''  The Quraish said:

''We are hospitable to the guest. We maintain family ties and provide water for the pilgrims, and we do such and such..... as for Muhammad, he insults our gods, find fault with our Religion, oppose the Religion of our fore fathers and sever our family ties, and...and....and....' So the Jews said to the Quraish: 'You are upon the truth and Muhammad is upon falsehood''

(The Jews gave this false answer), whilst knowing that Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) was upon truth and that he was a Messenger of Allaah, and that (Quraish) were worshippers of stone idols and engraved images.  So Allaah said about them (Jews):

''Have you not seen those who were given a portion of the Scripture?  They believe in Jibt and Taaghoot and say to the disbelievers that they are better guided as regards the way than the believers (Muslims)'' 4:51

Imaam Sadi (rahimahullaah) said:

''This is from the ugly (behaviour) of the Jews and their envy for the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) and the believers. Indeed, their vile manners and evil nature made them abandon Eemaan in Allaah and His Messenger, and replaced that with belief in Jibt and Taaghuut; and that is belief in all that is worshipped besides Allaah or judging with other than the Sharee-ah of Allaah.  And included in this is Magic, Fortune telling, worship of other than Allaah and obedience to shaytaan; all of this is from Jibt and Taaghuut.   Likewise, this disbelief and envy of theirs caused them to give preference to the way of the disbelievers in Allaah (the idol worshipers) over the way of the believers.''

THE JEWS BELIED (BOTH) THE MESSIAH AND MUHAMMAD

Allaah said about the Jews:

How bad is that for which they have sold their ownselves, that they should disbelieve in that which Allaah has revealed (the Qur'aan), grudging that Allaah should reveal of His grace unto whom He wills of His slaves.  So they have drawn on themselves wrath upon wrath.' 2:90

Firstly drew wrath upon themselves by belying the Messiah, and they (also) drew another wrath upon themselves by belying Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam).

The Christians were given victory over the Jews because they did not belie the Messiah.  The Muslims have been given victory over the Jews and the Christians because they believed in all the Books of Allaah and His Messengers.  They neither belied any of His Books nor a single one of His Messengers; rather they followed what Allaah ordered them to (follow), as Allaah said:

''Say (O Muslims), ''we believe in Allaah and that which has been sent down to us and that which has been sent down to Ibraaheem, Ismail, Ishaaq, Yaqoob, and to Al-Asbaat (the offspring of the twelve sons of Yaqoob) and that which has been given to Musaa and Isaa, and which has been given to the Prophets from their Lord.  We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we have submitted (in Islaam)'' 2:137

And He (subhaanah) said:

''The Messenger (Muhammad) believes in what has been sent down to him from his Lord, and (so do) the believers.  Each one believes in Allaah, His Angels, His Books, and His Messengers.  (They say,) 'We make no distinction between one another of His Messengers'-and they say, 'we hear, and we obey.  (We seek) Your Forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the return (of all)'' 2:285

The Muslims are the followers of all the Messengers of Allaah, including the Messiah and other than him.  Therefore, Allaah promised the Messenger and his followers (victory), as the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) stated in the authentic Hadith:

''There will not cease to be a group from my Ummah victorious upon the truth.  They will neither be harmed by those who oppose them nor by those who forsake them, until the Hour is established''.

He (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) also said:

''I asked my Lord not to allow an enemy to totally conquer my ummah, except from amongst themselves.  So my Lord granted that to me''

Therefore, that which the Christians seek to utilize as proof in their favour (in the above ayah), is proof against.

To be continued.....Inshaa-Allaah

SECTION: THE SAYING OF ALLAAH (SUBHAANAH): ''O ISAA! I WILL TAKE YOU AND RAISE YOU TO MYSELF''

And Allaah said:

''O Isaa! I will take you and raise you to Myself and clear you [of the forged statement that Isaa is Allaah's son] of those who disbelieve, and I will make those who follow you (Monotheists, who worship none but Allaah) superior to those who disbelieve till the Day of Resurrection'' 3:55

So, Allaah made those who followed the Messiah (alayhis-salaam) superior to those who disbelieved till the Day of Resurrection.  He gave superiority to those who followed the unadulterated Religion of the Messiah over the Jews.  Therefore, the Christians are superior to those Jews who disbelieved in the (Messiah) till the Day of Resurrection.

As for the Muslims, they believe in the Messiah.  Indeed, Allaah sent Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) after the Christians altered the Religion of the Messiah.  He (subhaanah) sent Muhammad with the Religion which the (Messiah) and other than him from the Prophets were sent with, and He (Subhaanah) made Muhammad and his ummah superior to the Christians till the Day of Resurrection.

It has been reported in Bukhaari and Muslim that the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said:

''We Prophets, our Religion is One.  I am the closest one among the people to Jesus son of Mary, because there was no prophet between He and I'' (Bukhari 6/379)

Allaah (subhaanah) said:

''He (Allaah) has ordained for you the same Religion which He ordained for Nooh, and which He has revealed to you (O Muhammad), and that which We ordained for Ibraaheem, Moosaa and Isaa saying, you should establish the Religion and make no division in it (Religion).  Intolerable is that (Islamic Monotheism)'' 42:13

And Allaah (subhaanah) said:

''O (you) Messengers! Eat of the Tayyi-baat [all kinds of Halaal foods which Allaah has made lawful (meat of slaughtered eatable animals, milk products, fats, vegetables, fruits)] and do good deeds.  Verily, I am Well-Acquainted with what you do.  And verily, this Religion (of Islaamic Monotheism) is one Religion, and I am your Lord, so keep your duty to Me.  But they (men) have broken their religion among them into sects, each group rejoicing in what is with it (as its belief) 23:51-53

Therefore, whoever had complete belief in Allaah and His Messengers was entitled to be given victory by Allaah, for Allaah said:

''Verily, We will indeed make victorious Our Messengers and those who believe (in the oneness of Allaah-Islaamic Monotheism) in this World's life and on the Day when witnesses will stand forth, (i.e. Day of Resurrection)'' 40:51

And He (subhaanah) said:

''And, verily, Our Word has gone forth of old for Our slaves, the Messengers, that they verily, would be made triumphant, and that our hosts! They verily, would be victorious'' 37:171-173

THEY ATTRIBUTED DEFICIENCIES TO ALLAAH (SUBHAANAH)

Imaam Muhammad Bin Abdul Wahhaab (rahimahullaah) stated in Masaa'ilil Jaahiliyyah:

They Attributed Defiencies To Him (subhaanah), Such As Having A Child, Being In Need And Tiredness, While (They) Freed Their Monks From Some Of These Defiencies

Sheikh Saaleh al Fawzaan (Hafidha-hullaah) explained the above, saying:

Deficiency is opposite to Perfection.  And attributing deficiencies to Allaah (subhaanah) is a violation of His Lordship, and that is (case) when a son is attributed to Him; because the father is in need of a son and is like him.

The Jews said that Ezra (alayhis-salaam) is Allaah's son; and the Christians said that The Messiah (alayhis-salaam) is Allaah's son; and the Pagan Arabs said that The Angels are Allaah's daughters; while, (on the other hand) the Christians declare their Monks free from having wives and sons; because (attributing this to the Monks) is a diminution of their rights.  So these (Christians) do not declare Allaah free from that which they free their Monks.

Likewise, the Arabs hated having daughters, while (on the other hand) they attributed that to Allaah.  So they attributed to Allaah what they hated for themselves and considered to be a disgrace and deficiency.  Allaah said:

''And they assign daughters unto Allaah! Glorified (and Exalted) is He above all that they associate with Him! And unto themselves what they desire''(16:57).

''They assign to Allaah that which they dislike (for themselves)'' (16:62)

A Muslim Scholar went on a mission to one of the kings of Rome, so when he entered upon (the King) he said to him, ''How is the wife and the children?''thus, those who were present became angry; for how can (this Muslim Scholar) describe their leader as having a wife and children?  So (the Muslim Scholar) said to them, 'you (people) free your leader from having a wife and a son, whilst (on the other hand) you attribute that to Allaah (Azza-Wa-Jal) and you do not declare Him free from that?  So he silenced them and debated with them on that, and embarrassed them (with a great embarrassment indeed).

THE ROOHUL QODUS

And neither is there in the Qur'aan nor in the Injeel and the Books of the Prophets, that the Roohul Qodus whom the Messiah was supported with is an affirmed Attribute of   Allaah.  Likewise, the Roohul Qodus neither creates nor does he provide sustenance.   Therefore, the Roohul Qodus is neither Allaah nor is he an Attribute from the Attributes of Allaah.  There is nothing from the statements of the Prophets about an affirmed Attribute of Allaah named either the son or roohul qodus.

The Christians claim that the Messiah said, ''baptise the people in the name of the father, the son and the roohul qodus (i.e. the Holy Spirit), and that the son is Allaah's Attribute of Knowledge and that the roohul qodus is His Attribute of Life.  This is a plain lie against the Messiah.  There is neither to be found in the statements of the Messiah nor in that of the Prophets other than him of (such) names for Allaah.  There is nothing of Allaah's Attributes (referred to as) the son nor is that His Attribute of Life is the Roohul qodus (holy Spirit).

The Christians also claimed that the Messiah assumed a bodily form through Maryam and the roohul qodus.  This (statement) is in agreement with what Allaah has stated, that He sent His Rooh (i.e. Jibreel) to Maryam, and Jibreel is the Roohul Qodus, who breathed into (Maryamıs sleeve or her garment) and she conceived the Messiah.  Therefore, the Messiah was a body created from his mother through that Rooh [(Jibreel), who breathed into Maryam].

So, this Rooh is neither an Attribute of Allaah nor His Hayaat (Life); rather the mention of Roohul Qodus has appeared in many of the statements of the Prophets.  The intent behind (Roohul Qodus) is either a reference to the Angel or that which Allaah places in the hearts of His Prophets and His Awliyaa, of guidance, strength and its like; as Allaah said:

''For such He has written Faith in their hearts, and strengthened them with Rıh (proofs, light and true guidance) from Himself'' 58:22

And Allaah said:

''And thus We have sent to you (O Muhammad) Roohan (an Inspiration, and a Mercy) of Our Command. You knew not what is the Book, nor what is Faith? But We have made it (this Qur'ıaan) a light wherewith We guide whosoever of Our slaves We will.'' 42:52

And He (subhaanah) said:

''He sends down the angels Bil Rooh (with inspiration) of His Command to whom of His slaves He pleases (saying): "Warn mankind that Laa ilaaha illa Ana (none has the right to be worshipped but I), so fear Me (by abstaining from sins and evil deeds). He has created the heavens and the earth with truth. High be He Exalted above all they associate as partners with Him. He has created man from Nutfah (mixed drops of male and female sexual discharge), then behold, this same (man) becomes an open opponent''. 16:2-4

And He (subhaanah) said:

''He sends Al Rooh (the Inspiration) by His Command to any of His slaves He wills, that he (the person who receives inspiration) may warn (men) of the Day of Mutual Meeting (i.e. The Day of Resurrection)''. 40:15

So He (subhaanah) named the Angel ''Rooh'', and that which the Angel is sent with (i.e. the Revelation) is also named Rooh.   Both (these names) can be applied, for the Messiah was aided with Roohul Qodus (The Angel) and with Rooh (the revelation, strength, light, guidance from Allaah)

And due to this, many of the Mufassiroon stated that (The Rooh) is Jibreel.  And some stated that (The Rooh) is the Revelation.   This is similar to the term Naamoos, which refers to that one who brings good in secret, just as the term Jaasoos refers to that one who brings evil in secret.  Therefore, Naamoos refers to Jibreel, and what can also be intended, is the Book he was sent down with and what it contains of Commands, Prohibitions and Laws.

And when Waraqah Bin Nawfil said to the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam):''This is the Naamoos who used to come to Musaa''; Naamoos can either mean Jibreel or the Revelation he is sent with.  Both these (meanings) are applicable.

THE ROOHUL QODUS''

Therefore, the support Allaah gave, as mentioned in the ayah, is similar to His statement:

''You (O Muhammad) will not find any people who believe in Allaah and the Last Day, making friendship with those who oppose Allaah and His Messenger (Muhammad), even though they were their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their kindred (people).  For such He has written Faith in their hearts, and strengthened them with Rooh (proofs, light and true guidance) from Himself'' 58:22

So, being strengthened with Rooh (proofs, light and true guidance) from Allaah, is (strength that is utilized) against all those who do not follow the Messengers, even if (such ones) are (the believer's) close relatives.  The believer loves those who believe in the Messengers even if they are not related to him, and he has hatred for those who do not believe in the Messengers, even if they are his close relatives.  This is the Religion of Ibraaheem (alayhis-salaam), as Allaah (subhaanah) stated:

''Indeed there has been an excellent example for you in Ibraaheem and those with him, when they said to their people: 'Verily, we are free from you and whatever you worship besides Allaah: we have rejected you, and there has started between us and you, hostility and hatred for ever until you believe in Allaah Alone'' 60:4

And Allaah said:

''And (remember) when Ibraaheem said to his father and his people: ''Verily, I am innocent of what you worship, except Him (i.e. Allaah Alone I worship) Who did create me; and verily, he will guide me. And he made it [laa-ilaaha-ilal-lah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allaah Alone)] a Word lasting among his offspring, that they may turn back (i.e. to repent to Allaah or receive admonition) 43:26-28

And this support that Allaah gives through the Roohul Qodus is (given) to the one who supports the Messengers.  This support is (given) to everyone who aids the Messengers against those who oppose them from amongst the idol worshippers and the people of the Scripture.

THE MENTION OF RUUHUL QUDUS IN THE SUNNAH

Abu Hurairah (radiyallaahu-anhu) said that he heard the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) saying to Hassaan Bin Thaabit: ''O Allah! Support him with the Roohul Qodus'' (Bukhaari: The Book of Jihaad, No: 3212)

It has (also) been reported from Aa-isha (radiyallaahu-anhu) in Saheeh Muslim and others, that she said: ''I heard the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) saying to Hassaan Bin Thaabit: ''Verily the Roohul Qodus will continue to support you so long as you put up a defence on behalf of Allah and His Messenger'' (Reported by Muslim: The Virtues of the Sahaabah)

And it has (also) been reported in the Bukhaari and Muslim on the authority of Al-Baraa-a Ibn Aazib (radiyallaahu-anhu), who said: ''I heard the Messenger of Allaah (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) saying to Hassaan Bin Thaabit: ''Ridicule the Mushriks, for Jibreel is with you'' (Bukhaari, No:3213)

So when Hassaan Bin Thaabit defended the cause of Allaah and His Messenger and ridiculed those who belied the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam), Allaah supported him with the [Roohul Qudus(Jibreel- alayhis-salaam)].  And indeed, the people of the earth know that Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) did not say that Hassaan Bin Thaabit was united with God.  Therefore, when the Prophet stated that Allaah supported Hassan Bin Thaabit with the Roohul Qodus, he did not imply that a human being was united with God.

And being supported with the Roohul Qodus is not something specific to the Messiah.  The people of the Book testify that the prophets other than the Messiah were supported with the Roohul Qodus, such as Dawood and other than him; rather they (also) stated that the Roohul Qudus used to be with the Disciples.

And it has been confirmed with consensus between the Muslims, the Christians and the Jews, that the Roohul Qodus can be with other than the Messiah; rather it can be with other than the Prophets.

SECTION: AND THEY SAY, ''ALLAAH SAID, ''AND TO ISAA, THE SON OF MARYAM, WE GAVE CLEAR PROOFS AND EVIDENCES''

And as for their saying, that (Allaah) said: ''And to Isaa, the son of Maryam, We gave clear proofs and evidences, and supported him with Roohul Qodus.''

The above statement of Allaah is the haqq, just as He stated.  He (subhaanah) has (also) stated in a number of places (in the Qur'aan), that He supported Isaa son of Maryam with the Roohul Qodus.

Allaah stated in Suratul Baqarah:

''Those Messengers! We preferred some of them to others; to some of them Allaah spoke (directly); others He raised to degrees (of honour); and to Isaa, the son of Maryam, We gave clear proofs and evidences, and supported him with Roohul Qodus (Jibreel)'' 2:253

And He (Ta-aalaa) said:

''Those Messengers! We preferred some of them to others; to some of them Allaah spoke (directly); others He raised to degrees (of honour); and to Isaa, the son of Maryam, We gave clear proofs and evidences, and supported him with Roohul Qodus (i.e. Jibreel).  If Allaah had willed, succeeding generations would not have fought against each other, after clear Verses of Allaah had come to them, but they differed-some of them believed and others disbelieved.  If Allaah had willed, they would not have fought against one another, but Allaah does what He likes.''2:253

And He (subhaanah) said:

''O Isaa, son of Maryam! Remember My Favour to you and to your mother when I supported you with Roohul Qodus (Jibreel) so that you spoke to the people in the cradle and in maturity; and when I taught you writing, Al-Hikmah (the power of understanding), the Tauraat and Injeel; and when you made out of the clay, a figure like that of a bird, by My Permission, and you breathed into it, and it became a bird by My Permission, and you healed those born blind, and the lepers by My Permission'' 5:110

And He (subhaanah) said:

''And when We change a Verse (of the Qur'aan) in place of another-and Allaah knows best what He sends down-they (the disbelievers) say: 'You (O Muhammad) are but a Muftari! (forger, liar).' Nay, but most of them know not.  Say (O Muhammad) Roohul Qodus (Jibreel) has brought it (the Qur'aan) down from your Lord with truth'' 16:101-102

And He (subhaanah) said:

''Which the trustworthy Rooh (Jibreel) has brought down upon your heart (O Muhammad), that you may be (one) of the warners'' 26:193-194

And He (subhaanah) said:

''Say (O Muhammad): ''Whoever is an enemy to (Jibreel) (let him die in his fury), for indeed he has brought it (this Qur'aan) down to your heart by Allaah's Permission'' 2:97

So the Roohul Qodus, who brought down the Qur'aan from Allaah is the Roohul Ameen [the trustworthy Rooh (i.e.Gibreel-alyahis Salaam)].

SECTION: THE TRINITY

The Christians say: ''Allaah is One God, One Creator, One Lord, and He is The Truth.  However, what the Christians hold as belief is in contradiction to this statement of theirs; for they say: ''we Christians believe in One Lord, and the Messiah is the Only begotten son of Allaah, and he a true god from a true god, and he is from the Essence of his father, and he is the same as the Father in Essence.''  Therefore, they affirm two gods.   They (also) say, ''indeed the Holy Spirit is also to be prayed to.''  Therefore, they affirmed three Gods, but said: ''Indeed, we only affirm the existence of One God.''

This (above statement of the Christians) is a plain contradiction.  It is gathered upon contradictions and upon affirmation of (one thing) and then a negation of (it).  And due to this, a group of the people of sound reasoning) said:

''Indeed, it may be possible to conceive the statements of all the people, except that of the Christians.  The Christians who utter these (statements) are not able to conceive what they say; rather they speak out of ignorance and gather their statements upon contradictions.''

And some of the people of sound reasoning said:

''Were ten Christians to gather together, they would differ on eleven statements.''

And another group of the people of sound reasoning said:

''Were you to ask some of the Christians, their wives and sons about Tawheed (in their Religion), the man would make one statement, the wife would make another statement, and the son would utter a third (different) statement.''

SECTION: THE MEANING OF THE AYAH:

''And We breathed into (the sleeve) of her shirt or garment) through Our Rooh''66:12

The Christians say that Allaah has also stated in Sura At-Tahreem:

''And Maryam (Mary), the daughter of 'Imraan who guarded her chastity; and We breathed into (the sleeve of her shirt or her garment) through Our Rooh, and she testified to the truth of the Words of her Lord [i.e. believed in the Words of Allaah: and (also believed in) His Scriptures, and she was of the Qaaniteen (i.e. obedient to Allaah)''

THE RESPONSE:

As for Allaah's statement:

''And We breathed into (the sleeve of her shirt or her garment) through Our Rooh'' and also the statement of Allaah in sura al-Anbiyaa: ''And (remember) she who guarded her chastity [Virgin Maryam (Mary)], We breathed into (the sleeves ofher shirt or garment) [through Our Rooh, and We made her and her son 'Iesa (Jesus)] a sign for Al-'Alamin (the mankind and jinns)''.

The above (two ayaat) are explained by the statement of Allaah, as follows:

''Then We sent to her Our Rooh [angel Jibrael (Gabriel)], and he appeared before her in the form of a man in all respects. She said: ''Verily! I seek refuge with the Most Beneficent (Allaah) from you, if you do fear Allaah.  (The angel) said: ''I am only a Messenger from your Lord, (to announce) to you the gift of a righteous son.''

Allaah informed (us) that it was His Messenger and Rooh (i.e. Angel Jibrael), who appeared before (Maryam) in the form of a man and informed her that he was a Messenger of Allaah sent to her.  So what is known is that Allaah's Rooh (mentioned in this ayah) is a created being and a slave of His (i.e. Jibreal).  The intended meaning is not that Allaah's Rooh is His Hayaat (Life), which is an Attribute of His (Subhaanah).

Likewise, is the statement of Allaah:

''So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (Adam) Min Roohee (the soul which I created for him)'' 15:29

And Allaah has also likened the Messiah to Aadam.  Allaah said:

''Verily, the likeness of Iesa (Jesus) before Allaah is the likeness of Adam. He created him from dust, then (He) said to him: "Be!-and he was''. 3:59

SECTION: THE MEANING OF KALIMATULLAAH  (THE WORD OF ALLAAH)

They (Christians) say that Allaah said:  ''And to Moosaa (Moses) Allaah spoke directly''4:164

THE RESPONSE:

What proof is there for you (Christians) in this?  Rather, it is a proof against you, for indeed it establishes that Allaah spoke to Moosaa directly, and the Messiah was not the Speech of Allaah heard by Moosaa.  It is well known that the Messiah is not Allaah's Speech.

You Christians hold that the Messiah is The Word of Allaah, The Knowledge of Allaah and that the Messiah is Allaah.  It is well known that Allaah's Speech is many, such as the Torah, The Injeel, and the Qur'aan and other than that of His Speech.  The Messiah forms no part in this.

You Christians regard the Messiah a creator.  If the Messiah was himself the Speech of Allaah, then he can be neither a creator nor one to be worshipped.  That is because the speech of Allaah is not a God that is worshipped; rather the Speech of Allaah is like the rest of His Attributes, such as His Hayaat (Life) and His Qudra (Ability).

And no one says, ''O Knowledge of Allaah forgive me'', or ''O Speech of Allaah forgive me''; rather the God (Allaah) who is described as having (Knowledge and Ability, and the One Who spoke to Musa directly), is the God to be worshipped and invoked.
