Asalaamu 'alaykum

A question was posed by the Christians about whether the scholars of the salaf had mentioned the Prophet (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) consummating the marriage with 'A'ishah (radi'Allahu 'anha) upon the onset of her menses.
The answer given was that he (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) consummated the marriage when she was nine, but no proofs were forwarded for the claim that this consummation took place when she was physically ready, i.e. when she began to menstruate.
I was hoping this question could be posed to the 'ulema and an answer given with specific references to the sources cited so as to answer this question emphatically.

Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem

Wa salaatu wa salaamu ala arasoolullaahi wa ala alihe wa ashabihe ajma'een,

I am not in any way claiming that what I am about to post here is anything other than an inquiry that has a nisiha attached to it.  It is not an attempt to criticize, disparage, nor ridicule my brother who is asking the question so in getting to the point I?d like to point out the following:

Being that it has been from the sunnah of Rasoolullaah, salallaahu alayhe wa sallam, to make every effort to call the people(nasaraah, yahood, or mushrik)to tawheed when dealing with them in regards to matters of the religion I have to ask, "How is it that the nasaarah(i.e. christians) are asking about such a matter as this one?"  My next question would be, "Is it because they have been made to understand tawheed and therefore have no need of being informed any further regarding it?"  I am asking these questions for several reasons but I will only focus on the one that concerns me the most.  It has been a clear and obvious methodology of the people these days to alter, vilify, denigrate, degrade, and make mockery of this deen and its messenger, salallaahu alayhe wa sallam.  They do this by whatever means would be enough to enhance or embellish their arguments by taking facts and twisting them or simply flat out and straight forwardly lying.

My nisiha is at this point after saying the above is that it would probably be better to keep the focus where it is needed and most likely more beneficial.  That focus is on Tawheed.  Again I emphasize the fact that I am not being critical here.  It could be that there is some type of discourse between the brother and these Christians that will be enhanced in some way by clarifying this matter in which they have asked about.  Surely I have no way of knowing that from where I sit.  If that is in fact the case then I say divert their attention back to Tawheed; so as to avoid getting too deep into the matters that at this time could or would not have the desired affect that explaining Tawheed can have.  I give this nisiha with the utmost respect and love for the deen and for my brother.  Barakallaah feehi, Ameen.

Akhookum Fillah,
