Shaykh Faaleh ibn Naafi? al-Harbee (hafidhahullaah) On Books Of The Jordanians
Question: What do you say with regard to the people reading the books of ?Alee Hasan al-Halabee and Saleem al-Hilaalee and their like, at this time?
Answer: All praise is for Allaah, and may Allaah extol and grant peace and security to Allaah?s Messenger, and his family and true followers, and his Companions, and those who are upon his Sunnah and follow his guidance until the Day of Recompense; to proceed:
Then the books of ?Alee Hasan ?Abdul-Hameed and Saleem al-Hilaalee, and their tapes, and their likes, from those who are upon their Manhaj. Then it is possible/allowable that benefit be taken from them, and it is possible/allowable to read them and to listen to their tapes; except for where it is clear that they have made an error: This being made clear by those who have reviewed and critically analyzed the books, tapes and whatever comes from those Shaykhs ? so errors must be rejected.
However one must beware of what they assert in the Manhaj, and in the matter of walaa? and baraa? (necessary association and disassociation) upon the basis of the ?aqeedah. So they are students of knowledge, and may sometimes not correctly establish the Salafee Manhaj and may not apply it in accordance with the regulating principles from the Imaams and scholars of the Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamaa?ah. Even though they speak as a result of ijtihaad, and they hold what they put forward in the Manhaj is correct, since in their own view they are scholars. However, ?an-Naseehah? (sincere true advice) necessitates that we advise our brothers that they should not trust what they affirm in the affairs of the Manhaj, and in principles of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamaa?ah ? since they do not correctly regulate them with the principles of the verifiers amongst the Scholars.
And it is not correct (to say) that we have warned against their books or against reading them or referring to them, nor against their tapes and from taking benefit from them. This is not correct. This may have been falsely attributed to us. They (the Jordanians) have produced researched works, checkings, writings and words which contain the truth and defence of the Salafi Manhaj, and of the Sunnah and the people of the Sunnah and the Jamaa?ah and refutation of the opponents of the truth, the people of innovation and evil heresies and the Jama?aat of Hizbiyyah and the people of political ideas and deviant thought.
So we do not warn away from the truth, and we do not warn away from the beneficial things which emanate from them ? those things containing the truth, and which contain service of the Manhaj of the Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamaa?ah. So this should be known..yes.
