As salaamu alaikum wa rahmatuallah

Does anyone know where to find some printable literature about the expiations of the one who is on medication whilst fasting. Not just talking about eye drops, or like this, i'm talking about for the one who have diabetes and has to take injections. And for the ones who are incarcerated and may not be able to take their medications before fajr or until after maghrib. What do they have to do, feed someone, make the days up, etc. If i can find something to print out, this will be of benefit for those in need Inshallah.

as salaamu alaikum

wa alaikumus salaam wa rahmatullaah

Insha'Allaah someone else will post something beneficial regarding the expiations etc. in detail and hopefully answer your questions better.  For now, there is a beneficial reminder from Shaykh Ibnul-Uthaymeen رحمه الله who said in his book:

Fasting: The Great act of Worship
Available for download at http://www.binothaimeen.com/eBook-i.shtml

quote:
As for those whose sickness does not allow them to fast, they fall into three categories:

1) If it is neither hard nor harmful for them, they must observe fasting.

2) If it is hard, but not harmful for them, they are permitted to break their fast.

3) If it is harmful for them, then they must abstain from fasting.

And Allaah the Mighty and Majestic said:

 An-Nisa (4):29

O you who believe! Eat not up your property among yourselves unjustly except it be a trade amongst you, by mutual consent. And do not kill yourselves (nor kill one another). Surely, Allâh is Most Merciful to you.

As-Salaamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullaahi wa Barakaatuhu!

I am not sure whether the question has been addressed yet if not can some one respond as this is a very important question for those who have been affected by Diabetes and the like. And if I may further the question a bit how does one know what group he or she falls under? Barka Allaahu feekum.
