Did Saleem al-Hilaalee recant from his previous defense and excusal of al-Ma'ribee and criticism of Shaykh Rabee' ?

Even though the brother/s at Sunnah Publishing have clearly mentioned the source ( for the above thread some people allege that they took it from the haddaadee "al athary" website! These statements can be read on the ketabsunah website and if they are available on 2 different forums, then it doesn't mean brothers at Sunnah Publishing took it from the Haddaadee al athary website! SubhaanAllaah!

My advice to everyone is to stop spreading rumors, guess-work and falsehood. We should avoid evil suspicions particularly for the Salafee brothers and sisters. Allaahul Musta'aan!

Allaah says(interpretation of meaning), "...shun lying speech (false statements)." (Al-Hajj 22:30)

He Azza wa jal also says(interpretation of meaning), "...verily, guess is no substitute for the truth." (An-Najm 53:28)

May Allaah subhaanu wa ta'aala guide all of us to the Siraat al Mustaqeem. Aameen.

Saleem al-Hilaalee turns on Maghraawee, 'Ar'oor, Halabee and Hassaan

Saleem al-Hilaalee Turns on Muhammad al-Maghraawee and Muhammad Hassaan:

On the 27th of Shawwaal, 1429H, corresponding to 10/27/2008CE, after the second lesson of his explanation of al-Usooluth-Thalaathah, Saleem al-Hilaalee was asked, "What is your statement about al-Maghraawee and Muhammad Hassaan...?"

So he answered,

As for Muhammad Hassaan, then I have spoken about his condition and his manhaj and I have explained that in the book, al-Jamaa'aatul-Islaamiyyah, many years ago.  So that which is apparent to me is that the man conceals Salafiyyah!  He conceals... He makes apparent Salafiyyah and he conceals al-Qutbiyyah.  And the man is not upon the way of as-Salafiyyah according to me.  Rather, he praises the Qutbiyyah.  And he praises Sayyid Qutb and he advises with the reading of his books.  Rather, he copies from Sayyid Qutb, but under the guise of Salafiyyah!!

As for al-Maghraawee, then I ask Allaah to guide him.  So I used to have a good opinion about him in past years.  However, what has become apparent to me is that he is upon a deviant manhaj; a manhaj that has deviated and departed from the way of our Scholars whom we have known for Salafiyyah.  We have known them for Salafiyyah.

Saleem al-Hilaalee Turns on 'Alee al-Halabee:

After his class on al-Usooluth-Thalaathah on the 23rd of Muharram, 1430H, Saleem al-Hilaalee was asked,"Have you perused the book, Manhajus-Salafis-Saalih?  And what is your assessment of what is within it from principles that oppose the Salafee manhaj?"

Within his answer, he stated,

And everyone comes to us with principles and fundamentals.  So from the principles of 'Ar'oor to the principles of this book (i.e. the book of 'Alee al-Halabee), about which I have observed that it is a book of fitnah, and that he comes with principles that we had not known from its author from before!!  This is only a new intonation!  We have seen it from him and we have heard it from him!

And he went onto say,

I say - may Allaah bless you - that these principles, which have come in this book, their author wants to elaborate them in order to justify or vindicate himself and what he is upon now!!  He and those who traverse upon his way! This includes praising the people of innovation and the people of misguidance such as Muhammad Hassaan and other than him from those who have come into the arena as of late.  These are principles they have elaborated in order to find for themselves Sharee'ah-legislated clothes for what they are upon now!!  These are principles that contain a great opposition to the principles of the Salafee manhaj, which we have been nurtured upon at the hands of our noble and senior mashaayikh.


The question is:

Now that Saleem al-Hilaalee has gone public against the likes of 'Ar'oor, Maghraawee, Halabee and Hassaan - where is he on the affair of Abul-Hasan al-Ma'ribee?  Surely, any Salafee who has witnessed the fitan of these individuals in years past will see that their fitan are extensions of one another - and this is why they make excuses for each other and mutually accept each others' deficient - yet continued tawbahs.

For example: 'Alee al-Halabee said in his book, Manhajus-Salafis-Saalih (p. 139) (which Saleem al-Hilaalee calls a book of fitnah),

And the conclusive statement after alluding to the aforementioned Sunnee ikhtilaaf in grasping the difference between 'aqeedah and manhaj is: it is a shield and an impenetrable fort for the 'aqeedah.  So if there is someone who possesses a Salafee 'aqeedah within himself, but he is a deviant in his manhaj, a hizbee or something else, then the thing that is stronger within him, whether it be 'aqeedah or manhaj, then that is what will be recorded about him and he will be influenced by it.  Since, he does not continue, as is said, in a condition of no consequence for what he is living.  So he will either be influenced by his manhaj over his 'aqeedah, so he will be explained as an innovator exposed.  And if he is influenced by his 'aqeedah over his manhaj, then he will be a known Salafee.  And the latter scenario is more beloved to us than the first and we call to that, traverse upon it, are patient upon it and give aid to it.

Abul-Hasan al-Ma'ribee's differentiation is much more severe; on his now infamous cassette, Jalsah 'Adan, Abul-Hasan al-Ma'ribee differentiates between 'aqeedah and manhaj in the worst way and coins the phrase, "Sunnee mubtadi'", a Sunnee innovator!  He also says on the same cassette,

I said to you previously that our difference with Jamaa'atul-Ikhwaan here in Yemen is not a difference that is between the Saved Sect and the destroyed sects from the seventy two sects.  Rather, it is a difference that enters into the Saved Sect and Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamaa'ah.

So if Saleem al-Hilaalee has recognized that 'Alee al-Halabee's principles contain a great opposition to the principles of the Salafee manhaj, then how much more so the principles of al-Ma'ribee?!

Another example: 'Adnaan 'Ar'oor was refuted in the series, Aqwaalul-'Ulamaa` fee Ibtaal Usool 'Adnaan 'Ar'oor for his principle, "We correct, but we do not criticize." Consequently, this principle of his was criticized by several Scholars including Shaykhs: Ibnul-'Uthaymeen, al-Fawzaan, Zayd al-Madkhalee and Ahmad an-Najmee.  So Saleem al-Hilaalee now admits that the principles of 'Ar'oor are a fitnah, but what about Abul-Hasan al-Ma'ribee who states in the fifth cassette of his al-Qawlul-Ameen series, "We correct, but we do not destroy the personalities." So it becomes necessary after criticism of 'Ar'oor's principles to criticize al-Ma'ribee's copying of it in his own words!

These are just two examples of the similarities between Abul-Hasan al-Ma'ribee and the rest: 'Ar'oor, Maghraawee, Halabee and Hassaan.  Shaykh Ahmad Baazmool - may Allaah the Exalted preserve him - makes several references to the similarities in their principles throughout his series, Siyaanatus-Salafiyyah, we hope to present this entire series in English soon inshaa` Allaah.

So we hope that Saleem al-Hilaalee will soon rectify this glaring contradiction between his criticism of 'Ar'oor, Maghraawee, Halabee and Hassaan and his silence on al-Ma'ribee.  Likewise, we hope to see him recant from his previous defense and excusal of al-Ma'ribee and criticism of Shaykh Rabee' Ibn Haadee al-Madkhalee - may Allaah the Exalted preserve him.
