What is the Sunnah of applying kohl or ithmid (antimony), when to apply & its benefits?

assalam alaykoum,
from what is found in ahadith sahih, antimony was used by the sahaba (radi Allahou 'anhoum).
SAHIH BOUKHARY
"Book of Menses":
No. 311 - Narrated Um-'Atiya:
We were forbidden to mourn for a dead person for more than three days except in the case of a husband for whom mourning was allowed for four months and ten days. (During that time) we were not allowed to put kohl (antimony eye powder) in our eyes or to use perfumes or to put on colored clothes except a dress made of 'Asb (a kind of Yemen cloth, very coarse and rough). We were allowed very light perfumes at the time of taking a bath after menses and also we were forbidden to go with the funeral procession .
حدثنا عبد الله بن عبد الوهاب قال حدثنا حماد بن زيد عن أيوب عن حفصة قال أبو عبد الله أو هشام بن حسان عن حفصة عن أم عطية عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قالت كنا ننهى أن نحد على ميت فوق ثلاث إلا على زوج أربعة أشهر وعشرا ولا نكتحل ولا نتطيب ولا نلبس ثوبا مصبوغا إلا ثوب عصب وقد رخص لنا عند الطهر إذا اغتسلت إحدانا من محيضها في نبذة من كست أظفار وكنا ننهي عن اتباع الجنائز قال رواه هشام بن حسان عن حفصة عن أم عطية عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم
SAHIH MOUSLIM
"Book of pilgimage":
No. 2803
(....)'All came from the Yemen with the sacrificial animals for the Prophet (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) and found Fatimah (Allaah be pleased with her) to be one among those who had put off Ihram and had put on dyed clothes and had applied antimony. He (Hadrat'Ali) showed disapproval to it, whereupon she said: My father has commanded me to do this. He (the narrator) said that 'Ali used to say in Iraq: I went to the Messenger of Allaah (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) showing annoyance at Fatimah for what she had done, and asked the (verdict) of Allaah's Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) regarding what she had narrated from him, and told him that I was angry with her, whereupon he said: She has told the truth, she has told the truth".
No. 2743
Nubaih b Wahb reported that the eyes of Umar b. Ubaidnllah b. Ma'mar were swollen, and he decided to use antimony. Aban b. 'Uthman forbade him to do so and commanded him to apply aloes on them, and reported on the authority of 'Uthman b. Affan that the Prophet of Allaah (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) had done that.

It is known to clean the eyes; to beautify it.
I know someone who had a microscopic tear (it was torn) in her eye cornea (regurarly she would feel pain as if a needle would sting her eye)and ever since she putted antimony, it simply disappeared walhamdoulillah.

Wa 'alaykum assalaam,
Alahamdulillaah, Jazaakillaahu khairan ,but what iam looking for is something in detail like when is it preferable to apply it & how may times in each eye & the ahadeeth about its benefits.
May be someone who has Shamaail Tirmidhi can post the ahaadeeth on kohl mentioned in it.
