As-salaamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullaah
If you are annoyed and frustrated with all the filthy pictures that come into your house when you only want to read your email, then do this (this is for MS Internet Explorer):
1) In the top of your browser, go to TOOLS
2) Click INTERNET OPTIONS
3) Click on the ADVANCED tab at the top
4) Scroll down to the option SHOW PICTURES, remove the check from the box
5) Click APPLY
Now you will see blank boxes for all jpegs and gifs (picture files), if you do need to see them, as they may be buttons or pictures of things that are permissible, just click on the blank square with your right mouse button and choose SHOW PICTURE. Try it here on salafitalk, you will only be prevented from seeing the banner at the top of the screen, everything else is still there.
This is especially good for email, especially yahoo, since it seems to be the filthiest by far.
May ALlaah help us to rid our houses of the munkar that creeps in without our intention!
After knowing this, you should realize that NOW YOU HAVE THE CHOICE to either allow pictures or not. So if you continue to bring fitnah into your own home, it is by your choice, you can not say that there is no way around it!
Remember that the angels do not enter a house with a picture in it. [See Saheeh Al-Jaami' #7260-7262]

As Salaamu Alaikum,
What is the ruling concerning keeping books in the home with pictures in them like schoolbooks? How do we treat these books?

I got this from fatwa-online by searching with the word "pictures"
Question: What do you say regarding acquiring/owning magazines within which are pictures; Are these pictures from those which are forbidden?
Response: Acquiring/owning magazines within which are pictures is permissible if the purpose of buying them was for that which it (the magazine) contains of beneficial knowledge. And it is befitting for whoever acquired/owned them to efface all the pictures with ink or that which is similar. However, if the purpose of acquiring/owning it (the magazine) was for the pictures, then this is not permissible.
And with Allaah lies all success and may Allaah send prayers and salutations upon our Prophet (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) and his family and his companions.

Assalaamualaikum
I've been using this FREE browser, which has all the features that a 'regular' browser has, and it has much more.
going back to original question, not only can you disable images, but you can keep them enabled from the original site. For example if you visit salafitalk.net, you would still see the images from this site, as the one above, but if you visited yahoo, you would not see all the advertisements they have there.
The browser is Mozilla and can be downloaded at www.mozilla.org
in addition to the image feature it has following which helps one who is using the internet in a constructive way, like researching a hadeeth and keeping multiple browsers open.. etc. etc.
1. it has tabs inside a browser, a single instance of the browser can hold multiple tabs with different pages.
2. you can have mulitple language encodings and can always default to Arabic.
3. it has a popup manager, where you can disable the advertisement pop-ups, and it is manageable for each site.. (like , enable pop-ups from salafitalk.net (like you need it for post preview) but disable from hotmail.com )
4. It has a cookie manager, where you can selectively remove cookies.. (all those who do coding, etc.. will surely like this )
and performance wise it is the best so far. (compared with IE and Netscape)

TALK BY SHAYHK YAHYA AL HAAJUREE...HAFIDHAHULLAH.....ABOUT BUILDING GRAVES AND MAKING PICTURES, HAVING TV'S AND THE LIKE ....HE ALSO TOUCHES ON THE ANGELS NOT ENTERING THE HOUSES WITH PICTURES IN IT..
THIS LECTURE MAY ENLIGHTEN US ON WHY WE SHOULD REMOVE THE PICTURES FROM OUR COMPUTERS OR OTHER THINGS WHICH CONTAIN THEM....MAY ALLAH MAKE IT EASY FOR US TO REMEMBER AND REMOVE ALL PICTURES BEFORE THEY PASS OUR FRONT DOORS. AMEEN!
