As salaamu alaykum.

Is it permissible to video shoot a wedding ceremony in which there are separate arrangements for males and females? And the females appearing on the video will be dressed in proper hijaab. It won't have any music or songs or any of the  other evils. And later a computer would be used to view this DVD/CD. Is making videos of humans using video cameras considered to be picture-making that is haraam?

JazakAllaah khayr
wa salaamu alaykum,
Sajid.

Assalam-o-Alaykum wa Rahmatullah

Please follow the link barakhAllahu feekum and carefully read what has been posted you may find some answers.  Do not just skim over the surface but look carefully at what is presented for the readers benefit.

Refer to the book referenced and there may appear greater clarification inshaAllah.

It should be noted that video films are also made of individual images that are played at speed together to make the video.

And we know that there is a difference of opinion with regards to it being beneficial in teaching certain aspects of the deen. nBut remember to follow the daleel given for the opinion and not merely the opinion. For all opinions are either accepted or rejected based upon whether they agree or disagree with what can be found from Allaah an His Rasool.

For when there is a difference we are ordered to take it back to the Book and Sunnah. And this phrase of "we" refers to the ulema who make ijtihaad and not us yaa Abdullaah, not us, barakhAllah feekum.

And if a brother or sister follows an opinion one of the ulema of the salaf held or hold on an issue.we allow them to hold that position by saying Shaykh so-and-so held or holds this opinion in this issue with this daleel.

And there is no issue of boycotting each other in such issues unless ahlul-'Ilm advise you to do so.

So refer your issues to brother that are known for being clear and upon the salafee manhaj and if they can't point you towards the references from the Ulema then ask them to aid you in getting clarification from them. For your first port of call as a source of reference are these individuals as maybe the question you need an answer to may already have been answered.

And we understand the responsibilities our brothers have in their daily lives, but we remind them as we remind ourselves that we should try to aid each other in birr and taqwa for many of us are lacking in what Allaah has blessed you with (i.e., the Arabic language) so help the people and aid one another upon the haqq the best you can barakhAllaahu feekum.

Stick to the 'Aqeedah and Manhaj of the Salaf and don't fear the people around you.

And Allah (subhanahu wa Ta'ala) knows best.

Wa Salam o Alaykum wa Rahmatullah

Aboo Bilal Nahim ibn Abd al Majid
