Salamu alaikum wa rahmatullah; Seeking additional information on this matter... covering their feet when out of home, or for prayer or in front of non-mahram?

بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم From what I have read on this subject is that the Ulamaa differ but what seems to be the strongest and Allaah knows best is that the woman should cover her feet based upon the general text of the saying of the prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم when he said, المرأة عورة 'The woman (all of her) is Awrah' except the face and hands. Some of the scholars say that if she is praying in the presence of non mahrams then she should cover her feet, but in the presence of her mahrams and women then its not an obligation for her to do so based upon no evidence to support it. و الله أعلم

wa alaikum salam wa rahmatullah; Jazakallahu khairun. BUT I would be interested in knowing WHY those Scholars are of the opinion that prayer for a woman with feet uncovered is permissable, whether she is praying around non-mahram or if she is praying alone. The awrah should be covered for prayer, unless there is something that the scholars have deduced from some other principle. I found the text of the Hadith you quoted from translated as " Narrated A'isha, Ummul Mu'minin [radiyyallahu anha]; Asma, daughter of Abu Bakr [radiyyallahu anhu], entered upon Rasulullah [sallallahu alaihi wa sallam] wearing thin clothes. Rasulullah [sallallahu alaihi wa sallam] turned his attention from her. He said "O Asma, when a woman reaches the age of menstruation, it does not suit her that she displays her parts of body except this and this, he [sallallahu alaihi wa sallam]pointed to her face and hands." [Sunan Abu Da'ud#4092]. and Allah knows best. Abu Na'imah Shamsuddin

Assalaamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakatuhu , The hadeeth quoted from the Sunan of Abu Dawud is Da'eef according to the muhadditheen. I hope the brothers from the tullabulilm can quote the 'ulamaa who have called this hadeeth Da'eef. wassalaamu 'alaykum.
