quote:
Book 024, Number 5226: (Muslim)
Ali reported: He the Holy Prophet (may peace be upon him), forbade me that I should wear my ring in this (forefinger) or in that near it. 'Asim (one of the narrators in the chain of transmitters) said: He did not remember which of the two (fingers) he pointed out; and he forbade to wear Qassi material (silk garments), and to sit on the silk saddle cloth, and he said: As regards Qassi, it is a variegated garment which was brought from Egypt and Syria which had figures upon it, and as regards Mayathir, it is something which women prepared for their husbands as red cloths for their saddles.

Imaam An-Nawawi said (12/298):
quote:
The muslims have unanimously agreed that the sunnah is for the men to wear the ring on their little finger, but as for the women then they may wear rings on all fingers....
So it is hated that men wear rings on their forefinger and that (finger)which is next to it due to this hadeeth, and this is kiraatut tanzeeh.

So the prohibition here is directed at the men and not the women. And Allaah knows best.

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته

I just wanted to post a reminder to myself and others, may Allaah cause us all to benefit from the reminder, it is not befitting for the believers to call our beloved prophet [afdaalu salaat wa azkaat tasleem] HOLY, I am sure it wasn't the brothers intention to post it, perhaps it was an oversight from a copy paste. May Allaah forgive us all and raise the rank of our nabee [afdaalu salaat wa atammu tasleem] Allaahumma Ameen.

Na`am, the English translation of Sahih Muslim has numerous issues, amongst them the translation of the kalimah as "there is no god but Allaah" which equates to wahdat ul-wujood, also addressing the Prophet (sallAllaahu `alayhi wa sallaam) as "Holy" and a few other issues.

Thought it appears the above quote was not taken from SahihMuslim.Com but elsewhere, there are still some changes that need to be made to the text on SahihMuslim.Com. We have made some amendments to it already,  changing "(may peace be upon him)" to "sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam" and "there is no god but Allah" to "there is nothing worthy of worship (in truth) but Allaah".

Outstanding changes include: changing Apostle to Prophet, removing occurrences of "Holy" in reference to the Prophet (sallAllaahu `alayhi was Sallam), changing (peace be upon him) to (sallAllaahu `alayhi was Sallam) etc., these will be made over the next few days. There are some mistakes in the translation also that need to be addressed. We are hoping that once the Arabic text is side by side with the English, the Salafees can collaborate together to provide a checking for the english text of Sahih Muslim.
