Salaamu aleyk

alhamdulillaahi rabbil aalameen we were blessed with a third child and second daughter last thursday

now 3 days later breastfeeding has gotten very painful, but that's normal alhamdulillaah, one problem is that this evening she threw up a bit of blood which she drank from me, when i called the midwife she said it is normal and wont harm the baby

she also said that it is better to let the baby drink even if the breast is very sore, because else you might get a breastinfection, especially in these days were milkproduction is very high

muhim i was relieved but than remembered that it is impermissible for us to drink blood

subsequently my questions are:

1) is it permissible to keep on breastfeeding my child at the wounded breast, despite of the fact that she will get in some of my blood too?

--> the alternative could be to get a breast pump and extract the milk artificially till no blood comes out anymore and in the meantime feed her with the other breast

2) what if the second breast starts bleeding too? should i than refrain from breastfeeding (the natural way)?

Note: there is no way of relieving the pain, the only way is right through it, in other words not letting the baby drink from the breast will not make the whole thing less painful, using a breast pump is even more painful, so it would not be in the interest of the mother to advise not to breastfeed the baby

i pray these details are sufficient enough for one of you to present to one or more of the scholars with whome you are in touch insha Allaah

please do not hesitate in asking this question, insha Allaah i myself shall also look further than only this forum

djazaq Allaahu gheyran and i look forward to a saheeh reply bi idnilaah

salaamu aleykum wa rahma

Salaamu aleykum wa rahma

dear brothers & sisters, i got my answer today and like to share it with you insha Allaah

this issue is ma'ruf (something known) but we do not find it in the fiqh books, but rather in the ahadeeth

this case was familiar in the time of the Prophet sallaallaahu aleyhi wa sallam, and he was witness of this but never spoke against it, meaning he sallaallaahu aleyhi wa sallam knew women were breastfeeding while their babies got in some of their mothers blood, but he sallaallaahu aleyhi wa sallam didn't make this impermissble but kept silent about the matter

so it is permissible for a mother to keep on breastfeeding her child even when the baby gets in some of her blood

wa Allaahu alim

djazaq Allaahu gheyran and i pray it is gheyr
