Asalamu Alaikum,

I received a text message today about a tele-link with Shaykh Majdi Sultan of Egypt. It stated that he was a student of Shaykh Uthaymeen. Has anybody heard of this shaykh and is he reliable?

Wa alaikum salam wa rahmatullah. Na'am. Shaikh Majdi Sultan hafhduallah studied under Shaikh Uthaymeen and Shaikh Bin Baz rahmahumallah. As well as under Shaikh Muhamamd Adam al Ethiopi hafhdullah who is one of the oldest shukookh of our time. When Shaikh Rabee was asked about which mashaikh to take from Egypt he answered as follows: For the Science of Hadith we recommend Shaykh Majdi Sultan. Shaykh Majdi is a graduate from Dar Al Hadith in Mekkah. He studied there for 15 years and benefited from many major scholars there.

Shaykh Majdi completed the six authentic books of Hadith with Shaykh Muhammed Aadam Al Ethiyoobee. He also completed Fath-ul Baari with the Shaykh.

The Shaykh is a memoriser of the Qurıan and has many Ijaazas.

We asked Shaykh Muhammad Adam about studying with Shaykh Majdi Sultan and he said, ıHe is your Shaykhı.

All praises belong to Allah,

After reading the comments here, I felt a need to clarify a statement made about Shaikh Majdi Sultan. We, here in Egypt, have a close and personal relationship with Shaikh Majdi but as far as we know the statement that Shaikh Rabee recommended him is "NOT" true. So we request that if anyone has a tape of this statement to present it to the forum. There is no doubt that we would be turning flips if the likes of Shaikh Rabee recommended him.
He does have an ijaazah in the six books of hadith from Shaikh Muhammad ibn Aadam Al-Ethiyoobi. He also has an (Ustaath) Doctor degree in hadith  from Al-Azhar. He said that he doesn't rejoice about his doctorate degree from Al-Azhar, but he does rejoice about the fact that he sat with the Ulema of Saudi Arabia. And Allah, the Most High, knows best.

Brother Musa Millington's blog doesn't mention the name of Shaykh Rabee in his post regarding Shaykh Majdi. Probably it was a typing mistake on the part of brother Abu Nuaym.
