There is a difference of opinion regarding the one who does not pray and below is the stronger of the two opinions inshaa Allah and Allah knows best.  The ulemah are in agreement that shaving the beard is a major sin but does not take you out of the fold of Islaam and Allah knows best.

The Ruling on Giving a Daughter in Marriage to One Who Does Not Pray

Question:

One of my kin has proposed to my daughter and I am under an obligation to him, (for example, for having lent him money, or shown some kindness to him etc.) but he is addicted to alcohol and he keeps company with bad people and prays little, or does not pray at all. He is also addicted to watching videos and television and other time-wasting devices and I am in difficulty regarding him. I request clarification of the ruling of Islam in the matter.

Answer:

If the person proposing to your daughter is as you have described him, then it is not permissible for you to give her in marriage to him, because she is a trust in your hands, so it is incumbent for you to choose for her the most righteous man in his religion and his character.

It is not permissible for a person who does not pray to be married to a Muslim woman who does pray, since he is not a suitable match for her, because abandoning the prayer is an act of major disbelief, according to the saying of the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi was salam:

'Between a man and polytheism and disbelief is the abandonment of prayer.' (muslim no.82)

And the saying of the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi was salam:

'The covenant between us and them is prayer; whoever abandons it has committed an act of disbelief.' (At-tirmithi no. 2621)

Narrated by Imam Ahmad and the compilers of the Sunan, with an authentic chain of narrators.

There are many other evidences in the Book (of Allaah) and the Sunnah which prove the disbelief of one who abandons the prayer, even if he does not reject its obligation, according to the most correct of two opinions held by the scholars. However, if he rejects its obligation or mocked it, then he is guilty of major disbelief according to the consensus of the Muslims.

As for the one who drinks alcohol but prays, he is not guilty of disbelief by doing this, as long as he does not claim that it is permissible, but he has committed a major sin and he has gone astray thereby. Therefore, it is lawful for you not to give her in marriage to him, even if he prays, due to his sin and because he might lead his wife and children to this great crime.

We ask Allaah to improve the situation of the Muslims and guide them to His Straight Path, and to preserve us and them from obeying vain desires and Satan, for verily, He is Most Generous, Most Noble.

I am always happy to see more people entering into Islaam.  I remember when I became Muslim about seven years ago.  I felt confused more or less all the time.

Anyway, as Muslims we are commanded to pray.  So most traditional jurists and scholars of our religion consider the one who does not pray to not be Muslim.  This is a good example of a standard ruling on that:

http://www.fatwaislam.com/fis/index.cfm?scn=fd&ID=179

Praying is easy, though.  And it's something that is quite beneficial.  It can even wipe away sins:

As for the beard, then shaving it doesn't mean you aren't Muslim.  It is something that Islaam disagrees with, as growing it is something we're supposed to do.  So shaving it is considered a sin, however the shaving of it does not negate a person having faith in Islaam:

http://www.fatwaislam.com/fis/index.cfm?scn=fd&ID=112

So my advice to you is that you should start praying first, it is quite simple and it helps you stay mindful of our Lord the Most High.  As for the beard, no shaving it doesn't mean you aren't Muslim as sins do not remove you from Islaam.

To add to what was mentioned in the above post I will inshallah mention some of the fataawa of the A'imah of our time:

1)Question:

Should I endeavor to fire a Muslim employee who works in my department but doesn't pray?
Answer:

It is incumbent upon you to advise him first, and perhaps Allaah Almighty will guide him; if the advice has no effect, fire him, because by not praying he has become a disbeliever, an apostate.

Shaykh Muhammad bin Saalih al-`Uthaymeen
Fatawa Islamiyah vol.8, p.87, DARUSSALAM

2)Question:

What is the ruling upon the one who dies whilst being one that does not pray, with knowledge that his parents are Muslims, and how should he be treated in regard to the washing (of the body) and the shrouding, the prayer over him, the burial, and making duýaa for him and seeking mercy upon him?
Answer:

Whosoever dies from amongst the (المكلفين) those that are bound by the legislation, whilst not praying, then he is a disbeliever. He should not be washed, he should not be prayed over, he should not be buried in the graveyards of the Muslims, and his next of kin do not inherit from him, rather his wealth should go to the treasury (بيپ المال) in the most correct opinion of the Scholars; because of the saying of the Prophet sallAllaahu ýalayhi wa sallam in the authentic hadeeth:

Between a man and polytheism and disbelief is the abandonment of the prayer.[Reported by Muslim in his Saheeh.]

And his saying sallAllaahu ýalayhi wa sallam:

The covenant that is between us and them is the prayer so whosoever abandons it the he has disbelieved. [Reported by Imaam Ahmad, and the authors of the Sunan with a authentic chain from the hadeeth of Buraydah may Allaah be pleased with him.]

ýAbdullaah bin Shaqeeq al-ýUqaylee, the respected Taabiýee may Allaah have mercy upon him, said:
The companions of the Prophet of Allaah sallAllaahu ýalayhi wa sallam never saw anything from amongst the actions, the abandonment of which is disbelief, except the prayer.

And there are many hadeeths and statements with this meaning.

And this is regarding the one who abandons it out of laziness and does not reject its obligation, and as for one who rejects its obligation, then he is a disbeliever, apostate from al-Islaam with all of the people of knowledge.

We ask Allaah that He rectifies the condition of the Muslims, and that He makes them traverse upon His Straight Path, Indeed He is the All Hearing the Responsive One.

A Person who Shaves Deserves to be Chastised
Question:

Since the Messenger of Allaah Salallaahu alayhi wa sallam ordered us to, "Trim our moustaches and grow our beards," will Allaah punish the person who shaves his beard? And is a beard a condition for a Muslim to have complete faith?
Answer:

Shaving the beard is unlawful, and negates the complete faith that is obligatory. A person who shaves deserves to be chastised in this life and punished in the next, unless he repents a sincere repentance before he dies, by regretting his sin, and by growing his beard. Allaah, Almighty says:

وَإِنِّي لَغَفَّارٌ لِّمَن تَابَ وَآمَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا ثُمَّ اهْتَدَى

And verily, I am indeed Forgiving to him who repents, believes (in My Oneness, and associates none in worship with Me) and does righteous good deeds, and then remains constant in doing them, (till his death) [Taa Haa 20:82]

If he continues to shave until he dies but nevertheless dies a Muslim, he is under Allaah's will: If Allaah Almight wills, He forgives him; if He wills, He punishes him.

Inshallahu Ta'ala this will serve helpful!Mabrook on your shahadah !
May Allah keep you firm upon the deen!
