Indeed Al-Albaanee was a great scholar, an imaam of hadeeth, an outstandng faqeeh, and a man of great insight and wisdom.  Love for him is a sign of a man's love for this Deen as no one can deny!  May Allaah have mercy on him.

However for one to say, out of love for the shaykh, "I don't see anyone else on his level... so basically Al-Albaanee is enough for me," this brings to my mind a question:

Imaam Al-Albaanee is an imaam from the great imaams that have passed away.  Just as you say that Shaykh Rabee' is not on the level of Shaykh Al-Albaanee, then we say that Shaykh Al-Albaanee was not on the level of the early imaams, rather he had only some of the good that they had.  So who was Shaykh Al-Albaanee compared to Imaam Ahmad for example?  I am saying this for a beneficial reason, not to lower the status of the shaykh.

I mean, if we are referring to scholars who have passed away, HOW can we cling to a scholar from the 14th century and refuse to heed the words of those imaams who are alive after his time, WHILE we blame others who cling to Imaam Ahmad in this day and time, calling them blind followers?  If we are going to cling to one scholar and his statements without referring to those present today, then don't the early imaams have a higher position and more right?  Don't the taabi'oon and the imaams like Ash-Shaafi'ee and Ahmad hold a much higher position in Islaam that Al-Albaanee?

But sadly, you find people today clinging to the statements of Shaykh Al-Albaanee with regards to innovators and those who fell into misguidance like 'Adnaan Ur'oor, Abul-Hasan Al-Ma'ribee, and their likes, quoting the old praises of Shaykh Al-Albaanee for them.  While Al-Albaanee himself, had Allaah taken him earlier, he would not have known the problems with Safar Al-Hawaalee and Salmaan Al-'Awdah.  So then would you bring his old statements of praise for them against those who have made his errors and deviance clear in such a case?  This is following desires clearly!

And how will you judge in affairs that need the insight of the scholars in the future?  How will you implement Allaah's command to ask Ahluth-Thikr when you don't know?  With each new issue that comes up, will you search the 1000s of tapes and hundreds of books of Al-Albaanee for his position?  And if you do not find anything there, what will you do?  Will you restrict yourself to making qiyaas on something he did mention?

HOW STRANGE!!!  For if someone did this with an imaam greater than Al-Albaanee, like Imaam Ahmad for example, you would call him a muqallid blind follower Hambalee and look down on him!  You did not get these double standards from Imaam Al-Albaanee!

One last question - With your statement, "Al-Albaanee is enough for me," and the lawaazim of this statement, don't you think you have fallen into the taqleed and ta'as-sub that the shaykh made jihaad against for three quarters of a century!?!?

لو كانوا يعلمون
