I?m trying to compile a list of chronological events that will occur on Yawm-ul-Qiyyam.  Please advise if the order is incorrect or if an event is missing.

1.   First Horn (Everything Dies)
2.   Second Horn (Resurrection & Assembly)
3.   Intercession
4.   Display & Reckoning
5.   Calling to Account (Al-Hisaab)
6.   The Pool (Al-Hawdh)
7.   The Scale (Al-Mizaan)
8.   The Bridge (As?Siraat) and the Crossing
9.   The Vision of Allah
10. Jannah or Jahannam

The ?Display? is shown by the following ayah:

quote:

And they will be set before your Lord in (lines as) rows, (and Allâh will say): "Now indeed, you have come to Us as We created you the first time. Nay, but you thought that We had appointed no meeting for you (with Us)." [Soorah Al-Kahf 18:48]

In Tasfir ibn Kathir (Vol. 6, p.165, Dar-us-Salaam Print), it states:

quote:
This may mean that all of creation will stand before Allah in one row, as Allah says:

يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الرُّوحُ وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ صَفًّا لَّايَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ الرحْمَنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا
The Day that Ar-Rûh [Jibrael (Gabriel) or another angel] and the angels will stand forth in rows, none shall speak except him whom the Most Beneficent (Allâh) allows, and he will speak what is right. [Soorah An-Naba 78:38]

Or it may mean that they will stand in rows, as Allah says:

وَجَاء رَبُّكَ وَالْمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّا
And your Lord comes with the angels in rows, [Soorah Al-Fajr 89:22]

What is the word that ibn Katheer uses? As Darus salaam often mistranslate words and make big errors in Aqeedah!!! As Abu Talha pointed out with regards to their translation of Aqeedatul Waasitiyyah in the explanation of 'Allaah having eyes' they added in the footnotes that Allaah has two eyes in his head!!! And even attributed this to the explainer of the book when it is not at all to be found in the Arabic explanation by the same explainer! This is clearly a grave error and speaking about Allaah without knowledge. And Allaah knows best.

Assalamu Alaykum,
There is an audio lecture by Dawood Adib entitiled "Descriptions of the Day of Judgement." The lecture has very detailed information about the events your are asking about. Insha-Allah, if you can get a copy of the lecture it will benifit you. I remember him mentioning, in the lecture,  a second bridge which is mentioned in the following hadeeth:

Sahih Al-Bukhari Volume 3, Book 43, Number 620:

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri:
Allah's Apostle said, "When the believers pass safely over (the bridge across) Hell, they will be stopped at a bridge in between Hell and Paradise where they will retaliate upon each other for the injustices done among them in the world, and when they get purified of all their sins, they will be admitted into Paradise. By Him in Whose Hands the life of Muhammad is everybody will recognize his dwelling in Paradise better than he recognizes his dwelling in this world."

The best tape I have heard to date on this subject is by the Grand Mufti shaikh Abdul Azeez Aali shaikh with the title of عقيدة أهل السنة في البعث  the Aqeedah of ahlus sunnah with regards to the resurrection if I remember correctly.

Wa'alaykumus salaam,

Jazaa-Kumallaahu Khayr for your help.  This is for a homeschool unit, and I also find this topic intriguing.

Could you please provide more information on the source of this hadeeth, ie. is it from a CD or a printed English translation?  If it is from an English translation, could you post the 'Arabic if there is 'Arabic with it?  Perhaps you could just scan it if you can not type 'Arabic.  May Allaah reward you generously.

wa 'alaykumus-salaamu wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh,

This is the hadeeth I thought it was, but since someone else has posted it, can the one who posted it originally confirm that this is the one she posted?

The 'Arabic posted means:

quote:

quote:
"When the believers are released/delivered from the Hellfire..."

I still would like to know the source of the translation:

"When the believers pass safely over (the bridge across) Hell..."

Assalamu Alaykum,

I am a teacher at an Islamic School in Kansas. Our website, connected to the "islamic society's" site,  has a hadeeth data base were I found this traslation. Please let me know if the translation is incorrect so that I can bring the error to the attention of the school board. I apologize that it took me so long to respond.

A very vivid description of the order of events can be found in the book
Sharh Al-Aqeedat-il-Wasitiyah. For example, on pages 167 & 168 of the english translation done by Dar-us-Salam, Shaykh-ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله mentions that BETWEEN the First Horn (When Everything Dies) and the Second Horn (When Resurrection & Assembly occurs) the following will happen:

quote:

"Everything of the earth and heaven will become unconscious except those whom Allaah will not like to be in that state.  The earth will become plain without a leaf or grass and the mountains like soft dunes.  All that will happen about which Allaah has informed in His Book especially in Surah At-Takweer and Surah Al-Infitaar, this will be the last day of the world.  Then Allaah will order the heaven that it should rain, for forty days, a matter like the semen of man.  Then people will rise from their graves with the support of their backbones.  And all the humans will have become rotten and disintegrated, only their back-bones will remain.  Then, when their creation and development will become complete, Allaah will order Israfil to blow the Trumpet the second time and at this the people will be revived in their graves and will rise up."

  Ya-Sin (36):51-52

And the Trumpet will be blown (i.e. the second blowing) and behold! From the graves they will come out quickly to their Lord. They will say: "Woe to us! Who has raised us up from our place of sleep." (It will be said to them): "This is what the Most Beneficent (Allâh) had promised, and the Messengers spoke truth!"

Masha'Allaah, the book goes on to explain the Tortures, Haud Kauthar, Siraat, Intercessions etc.  Insha'Allaah, this book will be beneficial for the list of chronological events that you are trying to compile.
