As salaamu alaikum
Can someone please Please explain to me what is the defintion of an image
Like in the Hadeeth where it says to deface all images (pictures)
I know the numerous fatawaa about pictures being haraam and that the angels won't enter the house where there is a picture or dog.
Does video games fall under that description?
I am not talking about Pac-Man
I am talking about video games where there are men and women or even animals.
It has been said to me that because there is no fatawaa about the video games then they are not included.
Please advise me in this matter insha'Allaah

wa 'alaikumus salaam

This is not an answer to your question, but rather a rebuttal to those who say:

quote:
"because there is no fatawaa about the video games then they are not included."

Question:  Since most of todays video games are played on a televison screen, why wouldn't the numerous fataawa regarding televison include video games also?  Furthermore, what about the music that is common in many of the video games?

That is merely what came to my mind.

Allaahu 'alam

The Messenger of Allaah Õá Çááå Úáíå æ Óáã said:

quote:
"Every sport or amusement that a Muslim occupies himself with is Baatil (baseless, null and not permissible) except three: his practicing with bow and arrow, his training his horse and his playing with his family."

Ibn Maajah. It was declared authentic by Shaykh al-Albaanee in Saheeh Sunan Ibn Maajah 2/132, no. 2267 [2811]

Allaah says in the Qur'aan:

 Al-An'am (6):32
æóãóÇ ÇáúÍóíóÇÉõ ÇáÏøõäúíóÇ ÅöáÇøó áóÚöÈñ æóáóåúæñ æóáóáÏøóÇÑõ ÇáÂÎöÑóÉõ ÎóíúÑñ áøöáøóÐöíäó íóÊøóÞõæäó ÃóÝóáÇó ÊóÚúÞöáõæäó

And the life of this world is nothing but play and amusement. But far better is the house in the Hereafter for those who are AlMuttaqûn (the pious - see V.2:2). Will you not then understand?
