Assalaamu alaykum
On the advice of the Imam of al-Masjid as-Salafee, Abu Salmaan Talhah Davis (hafidhahullaah), Maktabah Yahyaa ibn Ma'een now hopes to distribute a few copies of a book on salaah. He strongly advised me to start stocking such a book, even though we don't normally stock any books on fiqh, because it's the second pillar of The Deen.
He suggested "The Abridgment of the Prophet's Prayer Described" by Imam al-Albaanee (rahimahullaah). However, there isn't really a proper structure to that book, and it can actually be quite difficult to learn from because it's just a very long list of points from beginning to end.
And the full book, "The Prophet's Prayer Described", is not suitable for many of the types of people we give daw'ah to because it's not really for the layman, and because our daw'ah is mainly concerned with affairs of Tawheed and aqeedah/manhaj we don't really want to stock such a thick book on a different subject. Besides, it is a compilation of ahadeeth on salaah anyway, it's not a book on the fiqh of salaah. And, of course, we don't want to stock any books published by the publisher, JIMAM (Ja'miyyah Ihya Minhaj al-Mawdudi).
As such, we've decided to stock "The Selected Pearls" published by Al-Athariyyah instead, insha'allaah. Although the main core of the book is quite detailed, it is still unique in that it outlines the conditions, pillars and obligations of salaah in a very well structured manner, with a chapter for each respectively. And, very importantly, there are appendices listing the conditions, pillars and obligations in point form which no other book on Salaah in the english language has. It is an excellent treatise.
