Salaamu Alaykum,

I recently heard a tablighi give a khutbah (Unfortunately, I live in hizbiville), and he falsely attributed the following story to Abdul Qadir Al-Jilani!?!:

...While dying he faded in and out of consciousness, and shaytaan tempted him saying that he succeeded in avoiding him; all the while he was heard saying, "Not yet, not yet..."

I KNOW this story is attributed to Ahmed Ibn Hanbal (Rahimahullaah), not Jilani!!! Can one of my beloved brothers or sisters upon Salafiyyah please provide the name of the book, page # and isnaad of this narration.  Jazakallaah Khair.

Barakallaahu Feekum,

Daud

wa alaikum salam wa rahmatullah;

I too recall reading this happening concerning Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal [rahimahullah] when his son was asking him to recite "Laa ilaha illa-llah" as death was approaching and I too look forward to someone in touch with more knowledge to document it's source, insha'allah.

Regarding this story being attributed to Imaam Ahmad

Ath-Thahabee quoted it from the book: Juz' Muhammad ibn 'Abdillaah 'Alam ad-Deen.

The chain in that book (as quoted by ath-Thahabee) would be:

Muhammad ibn 'Abdillaah 'Alam ad-Deen
'Abdullaah 'Alam ad-Deen
'Abdullaah ibn Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Hanbal
Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Hanbal

Ath-Thahabee said after mentioning it: "This is a strange (or rare)story, it comes only by way of ('Abdullaah) Ibn 'Alam (ad-Deen), and Allaah knows best."

[Siyar A'laam an-Nubalaa' 11/341]

NOTE:There is no mention of his son asking him to say the shahaadah.

Al-Hamdulillahi Ta'Ala wa salatu wa sallamu 'ala Rasulullah

wa alaikum salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh;

Jazakallahu khair brother Moosaa for giving clarity to this matter.

The original post is just farther documentation as to why the mubtadi and the deviant gatherings and literiture should be avoided. Because we could hear and/or pass on something that is false, erroneous and misguidance.

And Allah Most High knows best.

May Allah protect us and guide us, Ameen.

Salaamu Alaykum,

I feel you Akhi.  I hate going to the hizbi's masjid.  Sometimes I'm stuck like chuck, and can't make it to the city (Philly) where the Salafis are, and have to put up with hearing this type of nonsense.  Moosaa, Jazakallaah Khair for your help and naseehah!

wa alaikum salam wa rahmatullah;

Yes my dear brother, support the sound students!

But we need to remember that there has been no prohibition from the Ulama in aiding the Imams here who continually do their best to grow in the manhaj of the Salaf-us-Saliheen [Allah's mercy on all of them], they should not be abandoned but rather they sould be aided. Though some of these brothers have not studied overseas, they do their best to listen to the Ulama and maintain a connection to the people of knowledge and they study from authentic sources. That is very important.

Bismillah Alhamdulillah As-Salatu Wa As-Salamu Alaa Rasoolillah. Wa Ba'ad.

Assalaamuaalaikum wa rahmathullahi wa barakathuhu!

All praise is due to Allah Who guided us to His Book, the Qur'aan; to the Sunnah of His Messenger (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and towards understanding the Qur'aan and the Sunnah as understood by the Sahabah (ridhwanullahi alaihim aj'ma'een).

The incident of Shaikh Abd al-Quadir Jilaanee (rahimahullah): Such incidents have been come accross by several(Muta'ad'ad) people. Some of them Allah ta'ala guided and made clear that all of this is Shaytaan's deciet like in case of Shaikh Abd al-Quadir Jilanee's (rahimahullah) famous incident that he said - One day I was performing Ibaadah, suddenly, I saw a very big throne on which there was light upon light. From this such voice came -
" O Abd al-Quadir! I am your Rab and I make all of those things halal which are haram for others". I (Abd al-Quadir) replied, "Are you that Allah besides whom there is no diety worthy of worship(with right)?" "Be far O enemy of Allah!". Upon that the light disappeared and darkness  surrounded and a voice came - "O Abd al-Quadir, you escaped from me (my plot, my paw) due to your firmness in Ilm and Ahwaal, Fuq'aa'hat otherwise with this power(karishma) I have lead astray seventy Shuyukh". The Shaikh (rahimahullah) was questioned: 'How did you come to know that it was Shaytaan?. He answered, from his statement that 'I make all of those things halal which are haram for others' because I knew that the Sharee'ah of Muhammad (Sallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) is complete (Khat'mee aur Khat'ee) and is not going to be changed and secondly, that he said ' I am your Rab' and he could not say 'I am that Allah besides whom there is no diety worthy of worship(with right).'

[Taken from Kitab al-Waseelah of Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullah); translated into Urdu language by Shaikh Ihsan Ilahee Zaheer (rahimahullah) page 74, Edition: Urdu Bazar, Lahore].

Our da?wah and our ?aqeedah is more beloved to us than our own selves, our wealth and our offspring.  So we are not prepared to part with it for gold, nor silver.  We say this so that no one may have hope in buying out our da?wah, nor should he think that  it is possible for him to purchase it from us for deenaar or dirham. Since the politicians already know this about us, so they have despaired of buying it from us with granted positions or wealth..Shaikh, the Allamah, Muqbil ibn Hadee Al Waa'di'ee (Rahimahullah).

Salaamu Alaykum,

I showed the tablighi deviate the books and the isnaad for the athar, and he rejected it, like he always does.  He said, "maybe it happened more than one".  Typical!
