As-Salaamu 'alaykum,
We have a soldier here in Kuwait, who, inshaa'allaah, seems like he wants to accept Islaam. One of his concerns is having some Muslims around him to help him learn and deal with the fallout he may face from family and friends when he returns home. He is from the Norfolk area and is slated to return stateside next week, inshaa'Allaah.
Any contacts would go a long way to helping clearing up some of the obstacles he may face.

Salaamu Ailaykum,
Na'am Akhi, there are some Salafis in that area. I was there about a year and half ago. At that time they did not have a Masjid or Masallaah. Most were praying with the hizbees at a masjid located on the campus of Old Dominion University. Go there and ask around. NOTE: I did not witness any Salafis among the immigrant Muslims. The ones I met were black folks.
There is also another Masjid, unfortunately I don't remember the street it's on. I saw the Imam of that Masjid at the coferenece in Maryland a couple of weeks ago. Perhaps someone can provide some details.

As-salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakatuh,
I have a home and live in the Norfolk area. I spend a lot of time travelling for work, but, insha'Allaah, I am often in the area. There are several masajid in the region, from Williamsburg in the North to ODU Islamic center here in Norfolk. ODU is a masjid set up for and by the Muslim students association back in the early 90's, and is mostly upon the methodology of the Ihkwaan. Several of the Salafees are making salaat there. The salafees have had up to three masajid in the area, though none are in existence today, Allaahu alim. If need be, the brother can reach me, and I can identify for him other Salafiyyoon in the area with whom he can associate. Insha'Allaah, this can be a means of reconnecting the Salafiyyoon of Norfolk and Virginia Beach and thus bringing the hearts closer. What little information that is available, I am freely willing to give, simply send a PM.
