As-Salaama Alakium  Dear Brothers

I have a question that was posed to me, but was uncertain as to the correct response.  Shaykh Al Islam Ibn Tayyimah rahimuhallah said "Ebadah huwa ismun jaamih lee kulu ma yuhibu Allah wa yarddah min al aqwaal wa aamaal athahir wal batin" He said "Ebaddah (worship means), is a complete word for all that Allah Loves and is Pleased with of sayings and actions those hidden and those that are those manifest." See Al Qawul Mufeed fi Adillahtu Tawheed"

The question is, why has the mention of both love and pleasure included in this most complete and true defenition of Ebadah, and not just one of these two descriptions. Why didnt he exclude pleasure and just say love or vice versa?

Does this have to do with the fact that Allah the most high has confired for himself both love and pleasure? Like where Allah says "Say if You truly love Allah then follow me and Allah will love You..." And he said "Allah is pleased with them, And they are pleased with him."

If someone can respond as soon as possible this will be greatly appreciated.

Yusuf Al Amreeki
