Alhamdulillaahi Rabbil 'Aalameen wa salaatu wa salaamu 'alaa ashrafil anbiyaa'e wal mursaleen
As-salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh.
Recently in our community one of our muslim brother has been alledged to have killed himself by shooting hisself in the neck (Inna lillaahi wa innaa ilayhi raaji'oon). This incident has raised many questions.
Is it permissible to pray janazah for one who commits suicide?
What is the status of this person, are they still considered muslim?
Does this act close the doors of Jannah for such a person?
Is it permissible for the muslims to make du'aa for him?
This particular brother did not die instantly and was in a semiconscious state. While in this state another muslim was by his side telling him to seek forgiveness from Allaah and to say "Laa ilaaha illallaah".
Is it possible that Allaah would forgive this act if the brother was able to seek forgiveness before he died or is this the time when it is too late to ask for forgivness?
Please if someone who has knowledge of the ruling on this type of situation can answer this question or direct me to where I can find the answers that would be very helpful and may Allaah reward you with good.

A: Some of the Muslim should pray upon him, just like the rest of the sinner Muslims are prayed upon.
