Assalamalaykum

I have a brittish passport and our children have british passports. When we need to travel to my husbands homeland by car we always have to apply to french and spanish governments for visa. Does anyone know  the opinions of the scholars if it would be permisssible for my husband to apply for a british passport.

stressing it would be for travel purposes ONLY. Insha Allah
