As-Salaamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullaahi wa Barakaatuhu. I have a quick question insha Allaah. Is not Salaatul Witr and Salaatul Taraaweeh one in the same? I thought Qiyaamul Layl and Tahajjud and Taraaweeh and Salaatul Witr describing the same thing? Baraka Allaahu Feek.

AbuUkkaasha, certainly Taraweeh, Qiyaamul-Layl and Tahajjud mean the same thing, as has been mentioned in various places, but not so Salaatul Witr. Salatul Witr usually refers to the odd rakaat(s) prayed in the night after Isha/tahajjud/qiyam/taraweeh. This is because when the Prophet ( ) was asked about the manner of the night prayer, he replied saying, "two by two..and when you fear Fajr (is nearing) end it with an odd number which will be witr for what you prayed" Jazakallahu Khayran Mashallah Akhee ekbal.hussain, All praise be to Allah, the Masjid opened in Ramadan 1420/ December 2000, if my memory serves me correct. Mashallah Taraaweeh prayers have been estabished there since then, along with the five daily prayers, Jumua and the two Eids. Allahumma lakalHamd wa Jazaakallahukhayran
