In light of the slanderous comments that continue to gush forth from the shameless mouths of those (e.g. al-Maribee and al-Qoosee) who fight this noble dawah and those who carry it forward from the likes of Shaikh Rabee, Faleh, Ubaid, Yahyaa an-Najmee, Zaid al-Madkhalee and others, I saw it befitting to post the following from a forthcoming translation, Inshaa Allaah.
From Sharh Masaail ul Jaahiliyh of Shaikh ul Islaam Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhaab, by the noble Shaikh Saaleh bin Fawzaan.
The Tenth aspect
Accusing the people of the deen with lack of understanding and memorisation
Using as a proof for the falsity of the deen - the lack of understanding of its people and their lack of memorisation.
??nor do we see any follow you but the meanest among us and they (too) followed you without thinking.? (Hud:27)
From that which Allaah has mentioned regarding the people of Hud is,
?The chiefs of the disbelievers among his people said: "We see you but a man like ourselves, nor do we see any follow you but the meanest among us and they (too) followed you without thinking. And we do not see in you any merit above us, in fact we think you are liars.? (Hud:27)
Meaning the weak and those who do not have understanding.
So they insult the followers of the messengers with not having understanding or intelligence and of being short-sighted. And this is something that is spread by the evil people and many of the enemies of Allaah today. They make fun of the Muslims and their scholars by saying that they don?t have understanding and are short-sighted.
They criticise them with this slander, despite the fact that the scholars of the muslims are the people of insight, knowledge and recognition. This is because they look at affairs with the light of Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic, and they order that which Allaah has ordered and prohibit that which Allaah has prohibited.
And there is no doubt that the scholars who supplement their knowledge with actions are the best of people after the messengers (alaihimussalaam), and the superiority of the scholar over the worshipper is like the superiority of the moon over the stars. So no one criticises the scholars and accuses them of being short-sighted and lacking understanding, except the one who resembles the people of jaahiliyah and the people of Nuh who used to describe the followers of messengers with this description to cause the people to flee from them.
And this occurs on the tongues of some people today who say the ulemaa are the scholars of menses and post-natal bleeding and the scholars of the rulings of istijmaar (wiping with pebbles) and the scholars of small matters and they have no knowledge of the current affairs and by the current affairs they mean the politics and revolution against the ruler.
