Abdul Qaadir the Majnoon Muqallid of Al-Ma?ribi quoted Abul Hasan as saying:

quote:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ibn Ma?een defended someone (Abu Huraymee) who no-one from the salaf had defended before. Abu Huraymee had been called a Shiah, a person with bad memory, a transmitter of weak hadith by the scholars, yet Ibn Ma?een defended him. Did Ahmed or Abu Hatim make Jur of Ibn Ma?een. Did they say he is from ahl-biddah. This shows that it is permissible to differ over a person[1].
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Comments:

1. It seems that name of the man Abul Hasan is talking about is Abu Salt Al-Harawi and not  Abu Huraymee as mentioned by the Ignorant Muqallid Abdul Qaadir. His name is Abdus Salaam ibn Saalih ibn Sulaymaan. [2]

2. Ibn Ma?een never defended Al-Harawi totally as stated by Abul Hasan, rather Ibn Ma?een  clearly mentioned that he was Shi?i but he negated that Al-Harawi tells lies due to him investigating the issue. Khateeb said (Tahdheebul Kamaal:4/504): ?As for the Hadeeth of A?mash then it was narrated by Abu Salt, Imaam Ahmed and Yahya Ibn Ma?een critcised him for that, then Yahya researched this issue and he found that other than Abu Salt narrated this Hadeeth from Abu Mu?aawiyyah.?           That is why you find Scholars such as Ibn Hajr (Taqreebut Tahdheeb pg.608) saying: ?He (meaning Al-Harawi) was a Sudooq (Truthful) but he (narrated) some false Ahadeeth and he was a shi?I (Kaana Yatashay?a).? So that is why the Scholars differed as to whether he was a liar or not, but they still affirmed that he was a Shi?i.  So some of the Scholars used the above statement of Yahya Ibn Ma?een to prove that Abu Salt never invented this hadeeth from his head rather he heard it from Abu Mu?aawiyyah.

3.     We did not find Yahya Ibn Ma?een defending Al-Harawi in the issue of being a Shi?i rather he affirmed this, all he done was share knowledge which he possessed which would free Al-Harawi from that which he had been held accountable for, so he did not hide it but rather he shared it, which was waajib.
Al-An'am (6):152
"And come not near to the orphan's property, except to improve it, until he (or she) attains the age of full strength; and give full measure and full weight with justice. We burden not any person, but that which he can bear. And whenever you give your word (i.e. judge between men or give evidence, etc.), say the truth even if a near relative is concerned, and fulfill the Covenant of Allâh, This He commands you, that you may remember.

4.     Again to make Comparison between this situation and what is happening now is wrong in many angles:
a.     As Abul Hasan defends Al-Magrawi who is Takfeeri, who defends Sayid Qutub, Sits with the Hizbiyoon, accuses the Scholars of Lying and Slander. And Abul Hasan has no proof to deny this!!!!
b.     Ibn Ma?een never sat with Al-Harawi, or accompanied him or co-operated with him in Da?wah to Allaah.
c.     Ibn Ma?een never hid his (Harawi) true state from the people, as he clearly said (Kaana Yatashay?a), which contains a warning from his innovation and (an advice) to distance oneself from him except for a necessity like taking Ahadeeth from him.
d.     As for Abul Hasan then he is the total opposite to this as he sits with Magrawi, Tayyaar and others from the Hizbiyoon, defends them, explains away their mistakes and after all that he considers them callers to the Manhaj of the Salaf.
e.     Ibn Ma?een never criticised those Scholars who labelled Al-Harawi as a Liar unlike Abul Hasan who called the Salafis Haddaadis and extremists (Gulaat), out of defence of Ahlul Bid?ah.

So again we can clearly see the lies and trickery Abul Hasan is using to decieve the Salafis.
Some info. taken from an article on Sahaab by the Brother Farooq Al-Gaythi may Allaah reward him.
