Some of the Innovators and People of Innovation falsely claim that the categorisation of Tawheed into it's three categories is something introduced into the Deen, and some even claim it's a "bid'ah".

However, Ibn Battah (rahimahullaah) and others from the Salaf categorised it in their time.  In the first publication by Sunnah Publishing, The Beneficial Summary in Clarifiying the Evidences for the Categories of Tawheed, there is a chapter entitled "Mentioning Some of the Statements of the Salaf in Affirmation of These Categories" which refutes the doubt.

He Is An Innovator, But He Has Done Good In Such And Such

Question To Sheikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan (hafidha-hullaah)

What is the ruling on the one who defends a person of innovation and says: '(This person) has good deeds and has given service to Islaam in such', since this has become widespread amongst some of the callers.  What is the ruling on this?

Answer:

We clarify errors in order that the people may keep away from it.  As for having good deeds, then this is with Allaah, so we do not have knowledge of it.  Whatever his good deeds are, they will not be lost with Allaah, and we are not a scale by which good and evil deeds are weighed.  Good and evil deeds have their scale on the Day of Judgement with Allaah (Ta-aalaa).

Our intention is not to diminish the individual, rather our intention is to clarify the truth and unveil errors so that people may not fall to it.  As for the (personal/private affairs of the person), we do not enter into that.  If he has good deeds, then his good deeds will not be lost with Allaah.  We neither talk about his good deeds nor do we say that he has no good deeds.  Allaah is more knowledgeable about his good deeds, and our intention is to clarify errors in order that people do not incline towards it....

Take What They Have Of Good And Abandon Their Mistakes

Question To Sheikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan(hafidha-hullaah):

When we give advice against the evil scholars to some of those who educate and nurture the youth, they say:  'take the good they have with them and abandon their mistakes'.  Is this correct?

Answer:

Wal-hamdulil-laah, there are scholars of the Sunnah and uprightness.  Allaah (subhaanah) has not made you to have a need of the evil scholars and the books of misguidance, whilst we have authentic books.  Therefore, we hold onto these affairs, and we neither go to the scholars of misguidance nor the innovators, nor to the books that are mixed (with falsehood).  Wal-lillaahil hamd, we have pure and good books and scholars, so we hold onto the scholars and the authentic books.

How the Callers to Allaah Should Respond to False Propaganda
By Shaykh Muqbil Ibn Haadee al-Waadi'ee

A brief word from the late Imaam of Yemen concerning how to handle the constantly spinning merry-go-round of doubts, rumours and propaganda at the hands of the those who attack the da'wah of ahlus-sunnah.

Thus, it is mandatory to expose falsehood and defend the daýwah whilst you are busy propagating the call ýand all praise belongs to Allaah. However, we do not want ourselves to become preoccupied with refuting this person and that person as this is what they desire for us to do. We occupy ourselves with calling to Allaah and in the course of the sermons (khutab) or talks we refute those who are intent on hindering people from good.

A Reply To Those Who Seek To Place Salafiyyah At The Same Level As The Other False And Innovated Methodologies

Sheikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan (hafidha-hullaah) stated:

True Salafiyyah Is Islaam

Salafiyyah is to follow the Madhab of the Salafus Saaleh (pious predecessors) from amongst the Sahaabah and the Taa'bi'een and the virtuous generations.  Allaah (ta-aalaa) said:

''And the first to embrace Islaam of the Muhaajiroon (those who migrated from Makkah to Al-Madinah) and the Ansaar (the citizens of Al-Madinah who helped and gave aid to the Muhaajiroon) and also those who followed them exactly (in Faith). Allaah is well-pleased with them as they are well-pleased with Him.''9:100

And Allaah (Ta-aalaa) said about the Sahaabah:

''Verily, those who believed, and emigrated and strove hard and fought with their property and their lives in the Cause of Allaah as well as those who gave (them) asylum and help, - these are (all) allies to one another.' 8:72 up until He (subhaanah) said:

''And those who believed afterwards, and emigrated and strove hard along with you, (in the Cause of Allaah) they are of you.'' 8:75

Allaah (subhaanah) said in Suratul Hashar:

''(And there is also a share in this booty) for the poor emigrants, who were expelled from their homes and their property, seeking Bounties from Allaah and to please Him. And helping Allaah (i.e. helping His religion) and His Messenger (Muhammad).  Such are indeed the truthful (to what they say); And those who, before them, had homes (in Al-Madinah) and had adopted the Faith, love those who emigrate to them.'' 59:8-9 up until His (Ta-aalaa) saying:

''And those who came after them say: "Our Lord! Forgive us and our brethren who have preceded us in Faith.'' 59:10

The Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said:

''This ummah will split into seventy three sects; all of them will enter the fire except one.  They said, 'which is that (saved sects) O Messenger of Allaah?  He (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) replied: 'those who are upon that which I and my companions are upon today''

He (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said:

''Stick to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly guided Khulafaa after me''

Therefore, salafiyyah is the manhaj obligatory upon us to traverse, and we are to abandon all other methodologies that are in opposition to it.  The (people of salafiyyah) are the saved sect, Ahlus Sunnah Wal-Jamaa-ah, and they are the aided group till yaumul qiyaamah.  May Allaah make us from them.

However, ascription to this methodology requires knowledge of its fundamentals in order that the Muslim may adhere to it.  It is also required to have knowledge of the other methodologies that are in opposition to salafiyyah in order to avoid them.  So salafiyyah upon the path of the pious predecessors has to be upon knowledge and clear sightedness.  It is not enough for the person to ascribe himself to (salafiyyah) whilst being ignorant of it or being in opposition to it.  For that reason Allaah (ta-aalaa) said:

''And also those who followed them exactly (in Faith)''

They followed (them) with knowledge.  They neither go into extremes nor into unwarranted harshness.  They neither exaggerate nor become negligent; like those who ascribe themselves to the madhabs of the four imams (Abu Haneefah, Maalik, Shaa-fi'ee and Ahmad) whilst being in opposition to them in Aqeedah and Ibaadaat.  And like the one who ascribes himself to the manhaj of the salaf, yet he either declares the Muslims to be disbelievers or rebels against the Muslim rulers, or he proceeds towards any other direction of extremism.  This person is not a salafi, rather he is named a khaariji or a mutazili.  Or like the one who ascribes himself to the manhaj of the salaf, but speaks with the statement of the mur'ji'a in the affair of Eemaan and Kufr.  This is not salafiyyah.

Therefore, it is obligatory to pay attention to this affair, and not to mix the salafi methodology with the other methodologies that are in opposition to it, and then say: ''all these methodologies (including the salafi methodology) are not from Islaam.''  This (statement) is speculative speech, deviation in judgment and causing confusion to the people through doubts.

Do Not Enter Into That Which Is Not Your Domain

[A Reply To Those Who Call For The Substitution Of The Sharee-ah Terms]

[Source:Al-Bayaan Li-Akhtaa'i Ba'dil Kuttaab (Page:177-180, Vol:2) By Sheikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan (hafidha-hullaah)]

Sheikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan (hafidha-hullaah) stated:

Indeed, Allaah created the creation for His worship, and upon the natural disposition of Tawheed and obedience to Him,'but they differed - some of them believed and others disbelieved.'[2:253]

''He it is Who created you, then some of you are disbelievers and some of you are believers.'' [64:2]

So Allaah wishes for them His Religion of Eemaan and goodness and shaytaan and the callers to evil wishes for them  disbelief and evil.  Allaah (Ta-aalaa) said:

'Allaah wishes to make clear (what is lawful and what is unlawful) to you, and to show you the ways of those before you, and accept your repentance, and Allaah is All-Knower, All-Wise.   Allaah wishes to accept your repentance, but those who follow their lusts, wish that you (believers) should deviate tremendously away from the Right Path.' [4:26-27]

For that reason, Allaah sent the Messengers, revealed the Books and established His Proofs.  So there are those amongst mankind who accept the truth and embrace Eeemaan by choice, and there are those who reject the truth and embrace disbelief by choice.

Indeed, Allaah has laid down the differences between the believers and the disbelievers in this life and the next, and He forbade that the two groups are made equal.  He (subhaanah) has set out recompense and judgment for each of the two groups in this life and the next.  He has given a distinguished name to every group; such as 'Mumin' (believer), 'Kaafir'(disbeliever)'Barrun'(the upright/righteous one), 'Faajir'(evildoer), 'Mushrik'(Polytheist), 'Muwahhid'(Monotheist), Faasiq' (sinner), 'Munaafiq' (hypocrite), 'Mutee'un'(an obedient one) and 'Aasee'(a disobedient one).  And He (subhaanah) forbade that equality is made between these differing names and attitudes.  Allaah (subhaanah) said:

''Or do those who earn evil deeds think that We shall hold them equal with those who believe (in the Oneness of Allaah Islaamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds'' [45:21]

And Allaah (subhaanah) said:

'Shall We treat those who believe (in the Oneness of Allaah Islaamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, as Mufsidoon (those who associate partners in worship with Allaah and commit crimes) on earth? Or shall We treat the Muttaqoon (the pious ones), as the Fujjaar (criminals, disbelievers, wicked, etc)' [38:28]- meaning: we have not made them equal; because that does not befit Allaah's Justice.

And Allaah has commanded the believers to declare their freedom from the disbelievers and the polytheist even if they be from their closest relatives.  Allaah (subhaanah) said:

'Indeed there has been an excellent example for you in Ibraaheem (Abraham) and those with him, when they said to their people: "Verily, we are free from you and whatever you worship besides Allaah, we have rejected you, and there has started between us and you, hostility and hatred for ever, until you believe in Allaah Alone'[60:4]

This is a fundamental principle from the fundamental principles of Eemaan and the Deen; established in the Book, the Sunnah and the authentic books of Aqeedah.  The Muslim does not wrangle about this affair.

The Sheikh (Saaleh al-Fawzaan) then mentioned what has occurred in some writings and the views of some of the people that: we should either abandon using the word 'kaafir' (disbeliever) and substitute it with the words 'Muslim'and 'Non Muslim' or with the words 'Muslims' and 'Others'.

Then the Sheikh (Saaleh al-Fawzaan) said:

Does this mean that we are to abandon the words Kufr, Shirk, Kuffaar and Mushrikeen found in the Qur'aan, the Sunnah and the Books of Islaamic creed?  This will be a violation of the Book and the Sunnah and an opposition to Allaah and His Messenger.  By changing the real meanings of the sharee'ah, we will be from those who distort the Book of their Lord and the Sunnah of their Messenger.  Then what defense can be given for (such action), is it to please the disbelievers?  The disbelievers will never be pleased with us until we abandon our religion.  Allaah (Ta-aalaa) said:

''Never will the Jews nor the Christians be pleased with you (O Muhammad Peace be upon him) till you follow their religion.' [2:120]

He (Ta-aalaa) said:

''And they will never cease fighting you until they turn you back from your religion (Islaamic Monotheism) if they can.'' [2:217]
Allaah (Ta-aalaa) said:

''They wish that you reject Faith, as they have rejected (Faith), and thus that you all become equal (like one another)'[4:89]

Indeed, it is not permissible for us to please the kuffaar and for them to have mutual love for us, whilst they are enemies of Allaah and His Messenger.  He (Ta-aalaa) said:

''O you who believe! Take not My enemies and your enemies (i.e. disbelievers and polytheists, etc.) as friends, showing affection towards them, while they have disbelieved in what has come to you of the truth [i.e. Islaamic Monotheism, this Qur'aan, and Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam)]' [60:1]

To be continued Inshaa-Allaah

Sheikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan continues...

And if the intention of those who call for the alteration of these sharee'ah terminologies is to show gentleness to the kuffaar, and to have good dealings with them; then this cannot be (done) by changing such sharee'ah terminologies, rather it  can only be (done) through what Allaah has legislated regarding their affair.  This comprises of the following affairs:

1.To invite them to Islaam, which is the religion Allaah has prescribed for all of mankind.  Allaah (Ta-aalaa) said:

''Invite (mankind, O Muhammad) to the Way of your Lord (i.e. Islaam) with wisdom (i.e. with the Divine Inspiration and the Qur'aan) and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better.''[16:125]

Therefore, we invite them (to Islaam) for their rectification and happiness in this life and the next.

2.To make peace with them if they seek that.  Allaah (Ta-aalaa) said:

''But if they incline to peace, you also incline to it, and (put your) trust in Allaah.  Verily, He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.'' [8:61]

Likewise, to make peace with them if the Muslims are in need of making peace, and when there is an overriding benefit for the Muslims in making peace; just as the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) made peace with the kuffaar at Hudaibiyyah.  And by virtue of peace, diplomacy is (established) between them and the Muslims.

3.Not to be hostile towards them without due right.  Allaah (Ta-aalaa) said:

''And let not the enmity and hatred of others make you avoid justice.  Be just: that is nearer to piety, and fear Allaah.''5:8

4.To behave well towards those of them who behave well towards the Muslims; those who neither kill nor drive Muslims out of their homes.  Allaah (Ta-aalaa) said:

''Allaah does not forbid you to deal justly and kindly with those who fought not against you on account of religion and did not drive you out of your homes. Verily, Allaah loves those who deal with equity.''60:8

5. To have permissible beneficial dealings with them; in trade, exchange of beneficial information and utilization of the worldly sciences, and things that are of benefit in our lives.

6. To fulfill contacts made with them, and to honour the blood, wealth and rights of the Mu-aahideen (i.e. those kuffaar who have a treaty with the Muslims); because it is binding upon them to (fulfill their covenants with the Muslims) and the Muslims are to (fulfill their covenants with them).   Allaah (Ta-aalaa) said:

''So long, as they are true to you, stand you true to them.''9:7

Allaah (Ta-aalaa) said:

''And kill not anyone whom Allaah has forbidden, except for a just cause (according to Islaamic law)'' 6:151

And the ones forbidden to be killed are the Muslim and the Mu-aahid (i.e. the kaafir who has a treaty with the Muslims).  And indeed the Prophet said about the killing of a Mu-aahid:

''Whoever kills a Mu-aahid will not even smell the fragrance of paradise and its fragrance can be smelled from the distance of forty years away'' (Bukhaari: No: 3166)

And whoever kills a Mu-aahid by mistake, it is as if he has killed a Muslim by mistake.  He must pay blood money as expiation.  He (Ta-aalaa) said:

''And if he belonged to a people with whom you have a treaty of mutual alliance, compensation (blood money - Diya) must be paid to his family, and a believing slave must be freed.'' 4:92

To be continued......Inshaa-Allaah

Sheikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan (hafidha-hullaah) continues.....

And finally, I advise these ones (those who called for a change of the sharee'ah terminologies) to repent to Allaah.  They should not enter into an affair, which they have neither mastered nor is it (something) they have specialized in; because this is from speaking about Allaah without knowledge.  Indeed, Allaah (Ta-aalaa) stated:

'And follow not (O man i.e., say not, or do not or witness not) that of which you have no knowledge17:36

Allaah (Ta-aalaa) said:

'Say (O Muhammad): (But) the things that my Lord has indeed forbidden are Al-Fawaahish (great evil sins, every kind of unlawful sexual intercourse) whether committed openly or secretly, sins (of all kinds), unrighteous oppression, joining partners (in worship) with Allaahfor which He has given no authority, and saying things about Allaah of which you have no knowledge' 7:33

He (subhaanah) placed speaking about Him without knowledge above shirk due to its seriousness.  And if it the case that these ones are aware of the (affair of specialist knowledge) and that a person does not enter into that which is not his domain, just as one does not enter into the affair of medicine because it is not his domain; then why do they enter into the affairs of the sharee'ah, (rather the most serious affairs of the sharee'ah) and that is (the affair of Aqeedah), whilst it is something they are not specialized in.

I do not desire with this (speech) except to give advice and clarification.

Wallaahu Waliyyut-Tawfeeq.  Wa-sallaahu wasallama Alaa Nabiyyinaa Muhammad wa-aalihi wa-sahbihee

Some Of The Doubts And Lies Propagated By The Enemies Of The Upright Scholars

Imaam Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhaab stated in Masaa'ilil Jaahiliyyah: They (People of the Era of Pre-Islaamic Ignorance) Accused The People Of The Deen Of Having Little Understanding And Poor Memory.  They utilized the argument to determine the falsity of a religion: that the people who followed it had little understanding and poor memory; as Allaah said that they said:  'And they (too) followed you without thinking.'[11:27]

Sheikh Saaleh Al Fawzaan (hafidha-hullaah) commented on the above saying:

Concerning that which Allaah has stated about the people of Nooh and their saying: 'And they (too) followed you without thinking.'[11:27] that is: the weak ones, 'those who followed without thinking', who possess no understanding.

So they (people of pre-islaamic ignorance) reviled the followers of the Messengers, that they possess neither understanding nor are they well versed in the affairs, and nor do they possess far-sightedness.  And this is what many amongst those who have strayed from the right course and the enemies of Allaah brag about today.  They make fun of the Muslims and their scholars, that they neither possess understanding nor far-sightedness.  They seek to diminish the scholars with this calumny despite the fact that the scholars of the Muslims are people of clear sightedness and cognizance; because they examine (things) with the light of Allaah; they command with the command of Allaah and forbid that which Allaah has forbidden.

And there is no doubt that the steadfast and righteous scholars are the best of the people after the Messengers (alayhimus-salaatu-was-salaam).  The superiority of the scholar over the worshipper is like that of the moon over all the stars.  Therefore, none diminishes the scholars and charges them with short-sightedness and lack of understanding, except one who has similarities with the people of Jaahiliyyah and the people of Nooh, who described the followers of the Messengers with this description; in order to drive the people away from them.

This (accusing the scholars of short sightedness and lack of understanding) is uttered from the tongues of some of the people today.  They say: these scholars are 'ulamaa'u hayd wa nifaas' (i.e. scholars with knowledge of the rulings pertaining to menstruation and post natal bleeding); and that they are 'ulamaa'u ahkaamul Istijmaar' [scholars with knowledge pertaining to istijmaar (i.e. the use of dry objects such as stones, tissue etc, to clean oneself after using the toilet], and that they are 'ulamaa'u juz-iyyaat' (i.e. scholars who only posses knowledge of some affairs or that their knowledge is restricted to some affairs) and that they do not possess knowledge of current affairs.  And the knowledge of current affairs (according to these ones that accuse and revile the scholars) is the affairs of politics and revolt against the Muslim rulers.

Ahlul Bidah Are Guilty Of The Same Distortions And False Interpretations Of The Jews And Christians

After making a mention of some of the methods utilized by the people of bidah, and that an innovator causes more harm than a sinner because he (the innovator) corrupts both the Religion and the people, Sheikh Rabee (May Allaah preserve him) then stated:

And for that reason, we see that Allaah (Tabaaraka-Wata-Aalaa) waged a more severe war against the Jewish Rabbis, the Christian Monks and the evil scholars amongst them than He has against the Tyrannical Rulers.  Why is that the case?; because the misguidance and corruption of the (Tyrannical Rulers) is well known and is clear to the people, but these (Rabbis, Monks and evil scholars) confound truth with falsehood, as He (Tabaa-raka-wata-Aalaa) said:

'Why do you mix truth with falsehood and conceal the truth while you know.' [3:71)

This is the condition of ahlul bidah.  They possess something of the truth, or they possess something of misguidance and mix it with the truth until deceitful paths are spread.  Allaah is more knowledgeable about His slaves, and see how many (times/instances) the Jews and their scholars and the Christians have been censured, rebuked, cautioned and disparaged.  Why is that the case?; because they corrupted the Religion of Allaah.

This is the state of affairs of the people of bidah.  They have a share of this rebuke which Allaah (Tabaaraka-Wata-Aalaa) directed towards the Jews and the Christians.  The proof (for this) is the saying of the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam):

'You will follow the ways of those who came before you exactly in the same fashion to the extent that if they were to enter a lizard's hole you will (also) enter it'

Indeed the people of bidah have fallen into this evil, and they have followed the Jews in their false interpretations, distortions and lies, and in their spreading and publicising falsehood.  They have shared in all these affairs with the (Jews and Christians.  So there is a strong resemblance between them and these (Jews and Christians).  Indeed the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) informed (us) that they will follow the ways of the (Jews and Christians)

The People Of Deviation And Desires Intend Evil And Fitan For The Ummah

Allaah (subhaanah) said:

'It is He Who has sent down to you (Muhammad) the Book (this Qur'aan). In it are Verses that are entirely clear, they are the foundations of the Book [and those are the Verses of Al-Ahkaam (commandments, etc.), Al-Faraa'id (obligatory duties) and Al-Hudud (legal laws for the punishment of thieves, adulterers, etc.)]; and others not entirely clear. So as for those in whose hearts there is a deviation (from the truth) they follow that which is not entirely clear thereof, seeking Al-Fitnah (polytheism and trials, etc.), and seeking for its hidden meanings, but none knows its hidden meanings save Allaah. And those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say: 'We believe in it; the whole of it (clear and unclear Verses) are from our Lord.'[ 3:7]

Sheikh Rabee Bin Haadee Al-Madkha-lee (hafidha-hullaah) stated:

So Allaah clarified in this verse the situation and state of the people of deviation and desires, and that they intend evil and trials for the ummah; because their intentions are unsound and their hearts are diseased, and they wish to assault the people with their devices.....up until the sheikh stated:

And Allaah (TabaarakaýWata-Aalaa) said about the kuffaar:

'O you who believe! If you obey a group of those who were given the Scripture (Jews and Christians), they would (indeed) render you disbelievers after you have believed!' 3:100

The kuffaar, the Christians and the Jews wish that the Muslims should turn away from their Religion.  The people of innovation have a great share of this evil intention and evil desire towards the people of good; and for this reason they are to be warned against severely.

Indeed, Allaah informed us in this ayah we have mentioned (i.e. Qur'aan 3:7), that those in whose hearts is a deviation follow that which is unclear thereof, seeking Al-Fitnah (polytheism and trials, etc.).  They intend to put the people to trial in their Religion, and make them deviate from the true Religion of Allaah to that which they are upon of innovation and misguidance, and to that which they are upon of doubts, straying and deviation.  They desire evil for those who trust them, and for those who sit and mix with them.

A False And Evil Claim: The Manhaj Of The Salaf Is Not Suitable For The Present Era

Question: Some of the people claim that the manhaj of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaa'ah is not suitable for this time, and they sight (as proof for their argument) that the precise regulations of the Sharee'ah held by Ahlus Sunnah cannot be actualized in this present era.

Sheikh Saaleh Al Fawzaan (may Allaah preserve him and grant him good health) replied saying:

The one who holds that the manhaj of the Salafus Saalih is not suitable for the rectification of the (affairs) in this time is one to be considered misguided and misguiding others; because the manhaj of the Salafus Saalih is what Allaah has commanded us to follow till the establishment of the hour.  He (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said:

'Verily those of you who live long after me will see a lot of differences, so hold fast to my Sunnah  and the Sunnah of the Rightly-Guided Khulafaah after me. Cling to it tightly and bite unto it with your molar teeth'

This is an address to the ummah till the establishment of the hour.  It demonstrates that the Manhaj of the Salaf must be followed and that it is suitable for rectifying the (affairs) in every time and place.  Allaah (subhaanah) said:

'And the first to embrace Islaam of the Muhaajroon (those who migrated from Makkah to Al-Madinah) and the Ansaar (the citizens of Al-Madinah who helped and gave aid to the Muhaajiroon) and also those who followed them exactly (in Faith). Allýh is well-pleased with them as they are well-pleased with Him.'

'And also those who followed them exactly (in fath)': this includes all the ummah till the establishment of the hour.  Therefore, it is obligatory upon the ummah to follow the manhaj of the Muhaajiroon and the Ansaar.  Imaam Maalik (rahimahullaah) said:

'The later part of this ummah will not be rectified except by that which rectified its earlier part.'

The one who wishes to isolate the ummah from the Salafus Saalih is one who wishes evil for the Muslims.  He is one who wishes to change Islaam, and he is one who wishes to initiate innovations and Mukhaalafaat (things that are in opposition to the pure Religion).  It is obligatory to reject this one, cut off his argument and warn against his evil; because the Manhaj of the Salaf must be followed and the Salaf must be taken as examples.   The Manhaj of the Salaf must be followed and that is what is in the Book of Allaah and in the Sunnah of His Messenger, as we have mentioned.

The one who wishes to cut off the Khalaf of the Ummah from its Salaf is one who works corruption in the earth.  It is obligatory to reject and refute his statement, and warn against him.

The shee'ah and those in agreement with them (those who misguide others) are the ones known for uttering such statements, so they are not be to be given any consideration.

The Correct View Point Regarding 'As-Sahwah Al-Islaamiyyah' (Islamic Awakening)

Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan (hafidha-hullaah) stated:

All praise is due to Allaah the Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings (of Allaah) be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and companions.  To proceed:

Islamic Awakening did not (only) come about in these times or this era, rather it began from the time Allaah sent His Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) with the Religion of Islaam and the people embraced it in crowds and groups.

Al-hamdulil-laah, goodness has not ceased to continue in this Ummah, as the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said:

'There will not cease to be a group amongst my Ummah manifest (upon the truth).  They will neither be harmed by those who forsake them nor by those who oppose them until the command of Allaah come to pass whilst they are upon that.'

Although the struggle between truth and falsehood continues, there has not ceased to be callers to the truth and its helpers---(who) traverse the correct methodology and stand up to call to it.

The Ummah has not in (any) era (during) the various eras been all asleep or misguided to the extent that a group arose giving itself a name or a name other than it (called) Islamic Awakening, for the meaning of this is that all the Islamic World was misguided before these ones (began) the awakening.  This opposes the saying of his (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam): 'There will not cease to be a group amongst my Ummah manifest upon the truth,' and his saying: 'My Ummah will never unite upon misguidance'

And that which the Prophet has given news of has been confirmed--with regards to continuation of goodness in this Ummah and absence of its discontinuation in (any) era (during the various eras) until the establishment of the hour, with the appearance of righteous callers and Mujaddideen Imaams, such as the likes of the A-imatul Arba'a (the four Imaams) and their followers from amongst the (scholars of Islaamic Juristic Research and Investigation), such as the likes of Sheikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah and his students, and Sheikhul Islaam Muhammad Bin Abdul Wahhaab and the Saudi State, and the Ansaarus Sunnah in Egypt and Sudan and other than them in the Muslim lands, and the Ahlul Hadeeth Salafis in India and other than it, and other than them amongst the callers to truth and the studious ones in the different Islaamic lands.

And that which has occurred at present in the Muslim lands, with regards to many of the youth accepting and holding onto Islaam are from the fruits of the striving of these righteous callers, the Mujaddideen Imaams and their followers.  So (this) did not occur through a void or by coincidence, rather it is a continuation of goodness in this Ummah.

Indeed, this (Islamic Awakening) is commended and safe from criticism when carried out upon the methodology of these righteous callers and that of the pious predecessors --(and) raised from the Book of Allaah, the Sunnah and that which the pious predecessors of this Ummah were upon, and far removed from affiliations that are in opposition to the methodology of the pious predecessors.

Its aim should be to be acquainted with the truth, action upon it and calling to it; and to be acquainted with falsehood, to avoid and warn against it.  Its aim cannot be for seeking leadership or ascendancy in the earth, revolt against the Jamaa'ah of the Muslims and disobedience to (the Muslim Rulers).  Indeed, this is neither the correct methodology of Dawah nor is it that of the pious predecessors, rather it is the methodology of the Khawaarij and the Mutazilah--those who have deviated from the methodology of the Book, the Sunnah and that which the pious predecessors were upon.  Indeed, (these deviants) were a disgrace in Islamic History and a wound in the body of the Ummah. We ask Allaah to guide the misguided Muslims to correctness...[end of quote]
