Bis-millaah, wal-hamdulillaah, was-Salaatu was-Salaamu 'alaa Rasoolillaah, wa ba'du:

As-Salaamu 'alaykum,

After responding to several e-mails from eager Salafees wanting to learn Arabic in the Language Center at Kuwait University, I thought I should make a general posting to make the condition of the Language Center known.

1) Shaykh Aboo Anas Hamad al-'Uthmaan has said that it is haraam to study at this center due to the classes being mixed, men and women sitting together in discussion/work groups, and so on. Shaykh Ibn al-'Uthaymeens fatwaa in this regard is clear.
The Shaykh prohibited us from helping anyone to come to study at this Center. Kuwait University is not a segregated university, even though the University recently passed a law that classes will be segregated which the students then had open protests AGAINST [the segregated classes], wal-llaahul-Musta'aan. And this law does not apply to the Language Center, only the Uni.

2)Most of the students are kuffaar from Europe, and most of them are women who dress and behave in any manner they choose (for the most part)[refer to point #1], as a phone call to the Amabassador will squash any complaint against them at the root. None of them show any concern for the deen and its regulations. Very little discussion in class includes Islaam as it may offend them. What is mentioned is general info.

3) Most of the teachers are Rawaafidhah Shee'ah, some of which openly call to their deen. If you try to defend the Sunnah, maa' Salaamah - you're on your way home, one way!

4) They have plays which students have to act out as part of the curriculum in which someone gets to play the role of Shaytaan, and others in which a man plays a woman and a woman a man, and so on. I'athoo-billaah!

5) The minority of the teachers are proper Ikhwaanees who speak without knowledge and often cause confusion amongst the very few ta'baan Muslims and many non-Muslims who study there because of this.

Not that it really matters after mentioning what has preceded, but the Arabic is MSA, not classical Arabic! Whatsmore, the nahu is weak, as are the teachers themselves. Some of them are graduates of the college of Engineering and could not find work, so they were given jobs as teachers.

And the list goes on. So going back to what Shaykh Aboo Anas has told us, it is not permissible to come for study at the Language Center here in Kuwait. One of our brothers came here unaware of the situation and suffered for approx. a year and a half before leaving the center. He had to ditch classes on a regular basis up until the point of being expelled. In the end, he really didn't get a whole lot out of it. If you refer to the previously mentioned issues, you'll see why. So iyyaakum!

And Allaah knows Best.

wa 'alaykumus-salaamu wa rahmah

Jazaak Allaahu khayran for this info.

Just wanted to ask - What is a "proper ikhwaanee"?

this is from our "local mustalahaat", meaning: not one of these ikhwaanees here in Kuwait who come in Salafee garb and talk the salafee talk, and walk the salafee walk. Rather what we mean is a beard-shavin', nasheed signin', cleaning the floor with his thaub as he walks musbil who hates the scholars and the rulers, and openly ascribes himself to the Ikhwaan.
Excuse the slip of the keys and my using our local terminology....
