Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem, wa salaatu wa salaamu ala arasoolullaahi wa ala alihe wa ashabihe ajma'een, Ameen. As salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakatuhu, Lately the media has encapsulated the people with the story of the man in Afghanistan who "converted" to christianity after having been a Muslim all of his life. As a result of this he was supposed to be given the punishment of death in accordance to the shari'ah. Since the pressure was so great it has been proposed that the man be released. So with that being said, the media focused on it and as a result we hear statements such as, "You see, those Moslems are extreme and if you do not agree with them they just kill you and that is that." You will find most of the christian zealots making such remarks, wallaahu 'alum. The evangelical christians that is. Anyway to get to the point I wanted to know how one would explain the understanding behind this based on statements of the 'ulamah who may have spoken of this particular aspect of the deen. I know that if it has been spoken about by the 'ulamah of old and/or recent times the evidences for it are sufficient and as well the explanations are not without hikmah, inshaaAllaah. I will not make it my mission to argue with or refute these individuals but I do intend to clarify as best I can what can be clarified based on what I "know" and not what I think. May Allaah clarify that which has been blemished by the thalimune, kafirune, mushrikeen, and munafiqoon, Ameen. Barakallaahu Feekum, Ameen.

wa alaikumus salaam wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh Shaykh ul-Islaam, Reviver of the Deen and Establisher of Tawheed, Muhammad bin Abdul-Wahhaab ÑÍãå Çááå said in his treatise Kashf ush-Shubuhaat (Removal of the Doubts) 4th Study:
| quote: |
When you have come to know that the path to Allaah will inevitably have enemies lying in wait upon it, people who have eloquence, knowledge and arguments, then it is obligatory upon you that you learn that from the deen of Allaah what will in turn become a weapon for you, by which you will fight against those Shayaateen, those whose Imaam and spokesman said to your Lord - the Mighty and Majestic:
| | Al-A'raf (7):16-17 |
ÞóÇáó ÝóÈöãóÇ ÃóÛúæóíúÊóäöí áÃóÞúÚõÏóäøó áóåõãú ÕöÑóÇØóßó ÇáúãõÓúÊóÞöíãó ¤ Ëõãøó áÂÊöíóäøóåõã ãøöä Èóíúäö ÃóíúÏöíåöãú æóãöäú ÎóáúÝöåöãú æóÚóäú ÃóíúãóÇäöåöãú æóÚóä ÔóãóÂÆöáöåöãú æóáÇó ÊóÌöÏõ ÃóßúËóÑóåõãú ÔóÇßöÑöíäó ¤ (Iblîs) said: "Because You have sent me astray, surely I will sit in wait against them (human beings) on Your Straight Path. Then I will come to them from before them and behind them, from their right and from their left, and You will not find most of them as thankful ones (i.e. they will not be dutiful to You)." |

| Then do not fear nor dispair, "Ever feeble indeed is the plot of Shaytaan." (an-Nisa 4:76) And the common person from amongst the Muwahhideen will overcome a thousand from the Ulamaa amongst the Mushriks, just as the Most High has said, "And that Our soldiers, they verily would be the victors." (as-Saffat 37:173) ...So no person of falsehood comes with any argument except there is in the Qur'aan that which will nullify it and expose its falsehood, as the Most High said, "And no example or similitude do they bring (to oppose or find fault in you or in this Qur'aan), but We reveal to you the truth (against that similitude or example), and the better explanation thereof." (al-Furqan 25:33) Some of the Mufassiroon have said, "This verse is generally applicable until the Day of Judgement to every argument that the people of falsehood bring." |
