Is the repentance of one who has abused Allaah - the Mighty and Majestic-, or who has abused the Messenger accepted?

"Is the repentance of one who has abused Allaah - the Mighty and Majestic-, or who has abused the Messenger accepted ?"

So he responded:

"They differ in that regard, and have two sayings:

The First Saying: Is that the repentance of one who has abused Allaah, or has abused His Messenger is not accepted. This is what is well-known with the Hanbalees. Rather he is to be executed as an Unbeliever, and the (Funeral) Prayer is not said over him, and no supplication for mercy is to be made for him, and he is to be buried in a place far from the graves of the Muslims.

The Second Saying : Is that the repentance of one who has abused Allaah, or has abused His Messenger is accepted if we know that he is sincere in his repentance to Allaah, and he confesses his error, and he describes Allaah-the Most High- with what He deserves from attributes of Magnificence.

This is because of the generality of the evidences which show that repentance is accepted, such as His Saying- He the Most High:

[[Meaning: Say: O My servants who have wronged themselves greatly! Do not despair of the Mercy of Allaah! Allaah forgives all sins.]]

[Sooratuz-Zumar (39) : 53]

So from the Unbelievers are those who abuse Allaah, yet despite this their repentance is accepted; and this is what is correct, except that the one who abuses the Messenger his repentance is not accepted, rather it is obligatory that he be killed- contrary to the one who abused Allaah, for his repentance is accepted, and he is not executed. This is because Allaah has informed us that He has pardoned with regard to His own right if the servant repents. However as for the one who abuses the Messenger then two matters pertain to him:

Firstly: A matter which relates to the Legislation, because he is the Messenger of Allaah, and this is pardoned if the person repents.

Secondly: A matter relating to him personally, and repentance is not accepted regarding this aspect because it is the right of a human being: it is not known that he has pardoned him. So upon this he is to be executed. However if he is executed we wash his body, we shroud him, we pray (Funeral Prayer) over him, and we bury him along with the Muslims."
