Topic: Soul Mates?

As-Salaamu' Alaikum wa Rahman tu' Lahi wa Berta Khatu' Jami'aan.

I am relating a narration from Abu'Usamah, may Allah guide him and us, from the time when he was the imam in Cleveland seeking the authenticity of the narration.
Something to the fact that, Allah created the souls of man and when he completed the souls some of them stayed away from each other and some of them came together and "meshed" (exact word of Abu' Usamah). If you meet someone, he says, and you immediately develope a good relationship, be it a friend or a spouse, and you feel as if you've met before, or you get that feeling that you have met before, then know that you have based upon this narration. I mention this seeking the proofs to this statement, because we find the people in Cleveland using this statement as a proof without the evidence of its validity.

The Imam of the Sunnah Muhammad Ibn' Sireen (Rahimahu'llah) narrated by Hasan Ibn' Rabee from Hamad Ibn' Zayd from Ayyub from Hisham, from Al-Muklub Ibn' Husain, from Hisham, he (Ibn' Sireen) said, "Indeed this knowledge is the Religion, so look to who you take your religion from."
-Found in the Mukadimah (Introduction) of Imam Muslim

I heard from a tape of a lecture by Abul-Hasan Malik Al-Athkar (hafithahu'llah) relaying the jewels found in the Introduction of Sahih Muslim, where Abul-Hasan mentioned that one of the ulamah at the conference mentioned the narration that, "No one from Ahlul' Bid'ah has anything of the truth to himself, whatever that is with Ahlul-Bid'ah from the truth is with Ahlus-Sunnah free from error and what is with Ahlul-Bid'ah is mingled and mixed with innovation."
-Statement of Shaikhul-Islam Ibn' Taymiyyah (Rahimahu'llahu' tabaraka wa ta'Ala)

Ahmad Ibn' Hurmuz Al-A'raj (rahimahu'llah) would say, "Search yourselves concerning the ugliness it is upon. Tomorrow everyone will be resurrected with those who did the same sin. Whoever fell into all sins then he will be gathered for each sin each time with the people of that sin." He used to rebuke himself saying, "A caller will pronounce on the Day of Arising: O people who did such and such a sin; arise! So O A'raj! You will have to stand with them. Again it will be cried: O people who did that sin; arise! And you A'raj would stand with them and everyone else who sinned."
-Men' Akhalakee-As-Salaf of Shaikh Ahmed Fareed, 25:56

Baarak-Allaahu Feekum - wa sal-Allaahu wa-sallam 'alaa Nabiyyinaa Muhammad,
was-Salaam 'alaykum wa-Rahmatullaahe wa-Barakaatuh.

Sounds like the hadeeth in Al-Bukhaaree and Muslim:

الْأَرْوَاحُ جُنُودٌ مُجَنَّدَةٌ فَمَا تَعَارَفَ مِنْهَا ائْتَلَفَ وَمَا تَنَاكَرَ مِنْهَا اخْتَلَفَ

I'm too sleepy right now to translate this one, and it is a tough translation too.

Anyway the hadeeth is in Bukhaaree, the chapter of the narrations of the prophets, and in Muslim, the chapter of Al-Birr was-Silah (Righteousness and Keeping Ties), the title in Saheeh Muslim (placed by An-Nawawee) of this specific baab is actually the beginning of the hadeeth:

الأرواح جنود مجندة

The translation I found on line is as follows:

..."and the souls are troops collected together and those who had a mutual familiarity amongst themselves in the store of prenatal existence would have affinity amongst them, (in this world also) and those who opposed one of them, would be at variance with one another...."
