  A'oothu billaahi minash-Shaytaanir-Rajeem.  Bismillaahir-Rahmaanir-Raheem. Was-salaatu was-salaamu 'alaa ashrafil ambiyaa-e wal mursaleen,  Nabiyyinaa Muhammadan wa 'alaa aalihi wa as-haabihi ajma'een.

Wa ba'd:

As-salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh.

I am requesting that one of the students of knowledge, who has knowledge about the books published by Dar-us-Salaam (Riyadh, KSA), to please inform me whether the series entitled "Fatawa Islamiyah" (in 9 volumes) is safe to buy.

I ask this as I have gone through one volume (Vol. 4) which was lent to me, pertaining to matters of Hajj rites and have found it extremely useful as I was ignorant of many of the issues that were addressed in the book.

On the cover of the book, the following is stated:

Islamic verdicts from the noble scholars :

Shaykh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah bin Baz

Shaykh Muhammad bin Salih Al-Uthaimin

Shaykh Abdullah bin Abdur Rahman Al-Jibreen,

along with  the permanent Committee and decisions of the Fiqh council.

Collected by :

Muhammad bin Abdul Aziz Al-Musnad

The name of the translator(s) is not stated.

Also, relating to the above post, would it be possible for somebody to explain who ibn Jibreen is? His name is mentioned on numerous books, usually books that contain a collection of fataawa.

Barakullahu fekum ya salafiyoon. Ibn Jibreen was once from the major scholars that the people took knowledge from in the past. However due to some recent erroneous fatawa of Ibn Jibreen we don't take any knowledge from him. Those older fatawa compilation of the lajna that include Ibn Jibreen are safe. The book published by dar us salaam I'm not sure which year that compilation is from. That needs some checking into.

Jazakumullah Khairan to all for the information.

To brother alHashimee, the book was first published in July 2002.
