  Asalamu aleykum
I would like some help- InshaAllah.
I want to know if it is permissible to study subjects which are not of the deen for further study.
I am referring to distance learning doctoral study in education.  However the education is not islamic, i.e. it is gerneral education.
Please let me now if it is permissible.
Jazakallahu khair.

Jazakallahu khairun for your response.
From what you have quoted, its best not to partake in the further study because it carries no good.
Does this quote also mean that the good is the knowledge of the sharee'ah and the evil, knowledge which is not?

  Asalamu aleykum
Jazkallahu khairun for your response.
If the study is not of the shareeah and its purpose is research issues in lifelong learning, could it be okay to study? Would it mean that the particulars of the study should be assessed first by a person of ilm to see if there is real benfit in it?
The only real benefit that I can foresee is that the research may produce information on how to encourage people to learn and to continue learning throughout their lives.  However this is not related to learning islam, just learning in general.  In which case can learning methods be applied to islam?  I have heard that it cannot but have no evidence for it.
