ASSALAMU ALAIKUM WA RAHMATULLAHI WA BARAKATUHU, I HAVE RECEIVED THE FOLOWING QUESTION FROM A BROTHER, IF THERE AE ANY FATWAS FROM THE SHEIKHS OF AHLUS SUNNAH THAT DEAL WITH THIS MATTER OR IF ANY OF OUR DEAR BROTHERS WHO HAVE CONTACT WITH THE SHEIKHS OF AHLUS SUNNAH COULD MAYBE FORWARD THIS QUESTION TO THEM, IT WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED INSHALLAH JAZAKALLAH KHAIR Assalamu Alaikum , I have met a sister with regards to marriage and alhamdulilah i am pleased with her with regards to deen etc, i met her in the presence of her friends father with her friend also there, however before proceeding as i know the hadith there is no nikkah without a wali, i needed some advice, her father has passed away and she has a brother but he doesnt practise and as she wears niqaab, he calls her a terrorist and other names and she now doesnt have contact with him, i would like to know can her friends father act as her wali or would it be the imam of the local mosque or whom it woud be, i know in an islamic state it would be the judge but i live in uk inshallah hope to hear from you soon wasalaam
