Asalamu Alaikum to my dear brothers and sisters in Islam..

Can you please clarify soemthing for me please what are the Ulema saying about Muhaamed Al-Munajjid?

And on his Q&A he has fataws from Ibn Uthamain Ibn Jabireen Ibn Baz, so can we still take the Daleel from his website as it has the Ulemas Daleels on it as they are obviously beneficial knowledge or do we leave it because it's his website and we shouldn't trust it at all? So we should keep away from it all together even though there is beneficial knowledge on it...

Please can you help me understand this matter so it becomes more clear to me.

Jazakhallah khayr

Wa alaykum as salaam wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh sister,

There are some posts on salafitalk where the saying of some of the Ulemah have been posted which warns against our brother in Islam, Muhammad Salih al-Munajjid (may Allaah rectify his errors and ours).

As far as his quoting fataawa from the Salafee Ulemah like Shaykh Ibn Baaz and others then it should also be noted that for some of the questions he quotes old fataawa of the Mashaykh. I found this example where he quoted an old fatwa of Shaykh Ibn Baaz.

For example:-

For a question on the various Islamic "groups" and which one to follow he quotes an old fatwa of Shaykh Ibn Baz where he said

"It is obligatory on every person to adhere to the truth, what Allaah and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, not to adhere to the methodology of any group, whether it is the Ikhwan al-Muslimeen or Ansaar al-Sunnah or any other group.  He should adhere to the truth. If he joins the Ansaar al-Sunnah and helps them with regard matters in which they are following to the truth, or he joins the Ikhwaan al-Muslimeen and agrees with them on matters in which they are following the truth, without going to extremes or being negligent, there is nothing wrong with that. But if he adheres to their set of beliefs and never deviates from it, this is not permitted. He has to follow the truth wherever it leads him. If the truth is with the Ikhwaan al-Muslimeen, he has to follow it, and if it is with the Ansaar al-Sunnah, he has to follow it, and if it is with another group, he has to follow it. He has to follow the truth, and help all other groups with regard to the truth, but he should not adhere to a particular way of thinking never forsaking it even if it turns out to be false or mistaken. That is wrong, and is not permitted. He should be with the group in every way in which they are correct, and not with them in the matters in which they are wrong."

It is well-known that the Shaykh Ibn Baz rahimahllah later changed his position and called Ikhwaan ul Muslimeen as one of the astray sects from the 72 sects.

So, be careful of this website and his "quoting from the Salafee Ulemah".

Regarding Ibn Jibreen, Ulemah like Shaykh An-Najmi rahimahullaah and others had warned from his errors too.

Now alhamdulillaah you have many good Salafee websites which have many fataawa of the Ulemah e.g. www.fatwaislam.com, http://www.alifta.com/Default.aspx and others.

Also now there are so many avenues to learn Arabic. We should put in more efforts to learn Arabic so that we can have access to the websites of various Salafee Ulemah and can get the answers to our questions instead of relying on websites of people like al-Munajjid (may Allaah forgive his and our errors) and others.

Wallaahu aalam.

wa salaamu alaykum,
Sajid
