A Concise Clarification of the Takfeeri group,
the so called 'Jama'at Muslimeen' in Slough, UK
compiled by Abdulilah Lahmami

This group has the following characteristics:

?     They give bai'ah (oath of allegiance) to somebody whose name is unknown. His followers call him the father of Eesa (Abu Eesa). In Arabic this is not considered a name.
?     This, Abu Eesa, is supposed to be the Ameer Mumineen. The leader of all of the Muslims and Muslims are sinful if they don't give him an oath of allegiance.
?     The group is known to make Takfeer of the Muslims in particular the Muslim rulers. They do not separate between kufr (disbelief) in action and disbelief that stems from the heart. Hence, they follow the way of the Khawarij of the past and present who fell into the same mistake.
?     They call to overthrowing the Muslim governments.
?     They are just another off-shoot of Hizbutahrir (which changes with time based upon the climate) such as the so called Firqat Najiyah, Muhajiroon etc. The later groups couldn't change with the times as HizbuTahrir and they became more extreme.
?     They strangely use some material of Muhammad Abdulwahhab such as 'Nawaaqid al Islaam' The ten things that take you out of Islam whereas they leave his  book 'Usool Sittah' The six principles which mentions the obedience to the Muslim rulers being obligatory so long as it doesn't go against the obedience to Allaah.

They have clear hatred for the scholars of Ahlusunnah both past and present. The present day scholars are upon the same belief and methodology as the scholars in the past.

Narrated Khateeb al Baghdaadi in ?Sharaf Ashaab al Hadeeth? [no.153] from a trustworthy Imam Qutayba ibn Sa?eed:

?If you see a man loving Ahlul-Hadeeth like Yahya ibn Sa?eed al Qattan and Abdulrahman ibn Mahdee, and Ahmed ibn Hanbal, and Ishaaq ibn Rahawiyyah ? (and he mentioned other people) ? then know that he is upon the Sunnah, and whoever differs from this then know that he is an innovator.?

?     They get their name "Jama'at al Muslimeen" as they claim from the hadeeth of Hudayfah which is in Bukhaaree but this same hadeeth specifies to leave all the groups if there is no Jama'ah and no Imam so they have opposed this hadeeth by setting up another group and making one of its followers the imam.
?     They do not teach people the correct belief in Allaah, His angels, His Books, His Messengers, The predestination ? good and bad, and about the last day. They don't teach the Muslims how to pray, fast, pay the Zakah, and how to perform Hajj according to the Sunnah of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam. Hence they do not follow the hadeeth Jibreel where after mentioning the pillars of faith and Islam and Ihsaan the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam said, "That was Jibreel, he came to teach you your religion" nor do the takfeeris follow the verse:

قُلْ هَـَذِهِ سَبِيلِيَ أَدْعُو إِلَىَ اللّهِ عَلَىَ بَصِيرَةٍ أَنَاْ وَمَنِ اتّبَعَنِي وَسُبْحَانَ اللّهِ وَمَآ أَنَاْ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ

?Say: this is my way, I call to Allaah, upon knowledge, I and whoever follows me, and Glory be to Allaah and I am not from the polytheist.?

We say to them,

قُلْ هَلْ يَسْتَوِي الّذِينَ يَعْلَمُونَ وَالّذِينَ لاَ يَعْلَمُون

?Say: Are they equal, those who know and those that do not know.?

Hence, they have lost out from the blessing of Allaah:

The Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam said  ?Whomsoever Allaah wishes to show goodness to He gives him the understanding of the deen.? [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree]

As the poet said
I have known the evil not because of the evil but to keep away from it
And whoever does not know the evil from the good will fall into it

Bai'ah (oath of allegiance) as understood by the scholars of al-Islam past and present

Imam Ahmed d241h rahimahullaah
The takfeeris often quote the following hadeeth without the correct understanding:

The prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam said, "Whoever dies and he does not have a leader (Imam), then he dies a death of ignorance."

They imply that this hadeeth refers to their own Imam being the Imam of all the Muslims and that if we don't give them bai'ah then we are sinful. So each and every takfeeri group has their own Ameer al-Mumineen. Neither do they recognize each other and at times make takfeer of each other.

In replying to Ishaaq ibn Ibrahim ibn Hani with regards the meaning of this hadeeth, Imam Ahmed said, "Do you know who the Imam is? He is the one whom all the Muslims unite upon, this is the Imam and this is its meaning."
[Masaail ibn Haani' no.2011. cited p.9/10 of Naseehatu Dhahabiya ila al-Jamaa'at al-Islaamiyyah - Fatwa fi Tdaa'ah wal Bai'ah Sheikh al-Islaam ibn Taymiyyah- Dar al Rayah1410h/1990]

As you can see, neither do all the Muslims unite upon Abu Eesa or his likes as to being the leader of all the Muslims.

Al-Katheeri said in Fayd al-Baari (4/59):
"Know that the hadeeth is to be understood that it refers to most of the main Muslim body(giving ba'ah to the Imam), so if one person gives bai'ah to him or two or three then he is not to be considered an Imam so long as the majority of the main Muslim body did not give him bai'ah or the people of authority (did not give him bai'ah)"[cited p.10 Naseehatu Dhahabiya ila al-Jamaa'at al-Islaamiyyah - Fatwa fi Tdaa'ah wal Bai'ah Sheikh al-Islaam ibn Taymiyyah- Dar al Rayah1410h/1990]

The great scholar Sheikh al-Islam ibn Taymiyyah d728h (rahimahullaah)
He says:
"It is not allowed for any of the teachers to take from anyone an oath to agree to him upon everything that he wants, to love those whom his teacher loves and to hate whom his teacher hates. Rather, the one who does that from them then he is similar to Genghis Khan and his likes, those who make anyone that follows them a close friend and those who oppose them a tyrannical enemy. Rather, upon them and their followers is to stick to the oath of Allaah by obeying Allaah and His Messenger and that they do what Allaah and His Messenger ordered them with. That they forbid what Allaah and His Messenger forbade them with?"
[Majmu' Fataawa (16/27)]

Imam As-Suyooti
He was asked concerning a man from the Soofees who took an oath from a man but then he chose another sheikh to give his oath to, so does the first oath become incumbent or the second?

So he rahimahullaah said, "neither the first or the second oath becomes incumbent and there is no basis for this."[ quoted from 'Risaalataan fi Rad ala Ahlil Bida' wal Ahwaa']

The takfeeris act just like the Soofees by making for themselves a leader for all the Muslims loving hat he loves and hating what he hates.

Sheikh Muqbil ibn Haadi al-Wad'ee (d.1422) rahimahullaah (from the great scholars of Yemen) replies:

"As for the Islamic groups which have split up the Muslims, divided their unity and weakened their strength  then it is more in need of being refuted not giving bai'ah to it!

It has previously been mentioned that the splitting of Muslims into groups is considered to be an innovation from the innovations of these times.

So bai'ah to these groups is an innovation. One may say that Allaah says in the Qur'an:

"Those who give you the bai'ah they actually give bai'ah to Allaah"

So how can you say bai'ah is an innovation?

This bai'ah is for the Prophet and the Imam who is from Quraish as the Prophet said: "whoever dies without making a pledge of allegiance dies a death of ignorance"[Muslim on the authority of Ibn Umar].

So this bai'ah is for the Imam who is from Quraish or other than a Qurashi who took it by force and the affairs become stable and orderly for him as a way of protecting the blood of the Muslims.

A person may ask and say what if I have already given them bai'ah? How does one free themselves from it as I have come to know the truth?

The way out is:
If they have taken an oath from you then you make an expiation for it because the Prophet said, "whoever makes an oath and sees other than it which is better then let him come to that which is better and expiate for his oath."[Muslim on the authority of Abu Hurayrah]

And if they didn't take from you an oath then it is considered nonsense. The Prophet said, "whoever introduces into our affairs that which is not from it will be rejected." [Bukhaaree and Muslim]

So what is required is to refute the one who calls to it not the one who has freed himself from it.

So if one says that the Prophet said, "if three people go out on a journey (together) then let them make one in charge (of them)" [saheehah 1322].

The answer is that this is limited to traveling.

?so the bai'ah to the leaders of the Islamic groups is considered an innovation from the innovations of these times.

So did Sa'eed ibn Musayab (radiallaahu 'anhu) when he was beaten call for bai'ah?

Did Anas bin Maalik (radiallaahu 'anhu) call for it when Hajjaj sought to humiliate him and strangle him?

Did Imam Malik call for it when he was beaten?

Did Imam Shaaf'ee call for it when he was driven out of Naysaboor?

And did many of our scholars call for it when they were beaten, imprisoned and punished?

They didn't call the people to give bai'ah to them?"
['Asila Yamaniyyah fi Masaail al-Eeman wa Takfeer' p.71]

Allaahu Akbar, beautiful words from sheikh Muqbil rahimahullaah. It is upon the takfeeris to return back to the Qur'an and the Sunnah in the understanding of the pious predecessors.

Auzzaee said, ?Be patient upon the sunnah and stop where the people (Companions) stopped and say with what they said and keep silent with what they kept silent over. Take the path of the pious predecessors for what is sufficient for them is sufficient for you.?

It is upon them to follow the understanding of the companions and the early generations of Muslims and not be mislead by the ignorant ones who are unknown, neither are they scholars of this religion nor are they known by the scholars of this religion. Ignorance upon ignorance leading the ignorant.

?Abdullaah ibn ?amr ibnul-?aas said that the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam said:
"Allaah does not snatch away the knowledge from the servants but he takes it by taking away the scholars. until there is no scholar left and the people take the ignorant ones as their leaders and they are asked and they give fataawa (islaamic verdicts) without knowledge so they go astray and they lead others astray."

Ibn Mas?ud said, ?No generation comes except that is worse than the former one. I do not mean a leader better than another leader, nor a year better than another year but your scholars and people of understanding will go and you will not find others to replace them. And a people will come and they will give rulings according to their own opinions.?

The Messenger of Allaah sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam said:
"The scholars are the inheritors of the Prophets. Indeed the Prophets do not leave behind Denars nor Dirhams, but they leave behind knowledge so whoever attains it has attained a great treasure."

Jama'at Takfeer The group that calls Muslim disbelievers

Sheikh Muqbil ibn Haadi al-Wad'ee (d.1422) rahimahullaah continues:

"And I challenge them, whether they be from Egypt, Sudan, Yemen, Kuwait or Algeria that they bring one scholar from amongst them!! And they say they are concerned that there be amongst them a scholar.

We seek refuge in Allaah that others accept your claim to be scholars and in reality they will be like the dogs from the dogs of the hellfire on the Day of Judgement.  And they will leave the religion just as the arrow enters the game.

So it is upon the society to be warned from you and that they also warn against you and I am amazed for they accuse the callers to Allaah and the Muslims of being disbelievers yet they become instruments for the governments to strike at the calls to Allaah?

?And if you say to one of them, "what is your proof for raising your hands (in the prayer)?" He says, "I don't know!" And you say to them, "What is your proof for prostrating upon the seven limbs in the prayer?" He says, "I don't know!!" Then after that he puts himself forward to call Muslims disbelievers!!  (takfeer). So just wait Oh ignorant youths . How you put yourselves forward to make takfeer of the Muslims for with this action of yours you please the eyes of the secularists, the Ba'thees and Naasiriyeen and the governments, rather the eyes of the enemies of Islam. You split up the unity of the Muslims?"
Sheikh Muqbil ibn Haadi al-Wad'ee (d.1422) rahimahullaah on Jama'at Takfeer
p.92

Currently Abu Esa is in prison in the land of the disbelievers and the so called Jamaa'at al-Muslimeen is looking for a new leader to lead them astray. A leader who again will be unknown to the Muslims and ignorant of the religion leading the ignorant few astray.

QUESTION:
How do we reconcile the Hadith:  ??whoever is killed while protecting his property, then he is a martyr??1 and the Hadith:  ??you should hear and obey the ruler even if he flogs your back and takes your wealth, then still hear and obey??2

1. Reported by Bukhaari (Vol 3 No:2480)
2. Reported by Muslim (English Trans 3/1029/ no.4554) (Ibn Abee Aasim in As-sunnah 2/492 no:1026)

ANSWER:
??you should hear and obey the ruler even if he flogs your back and takes your wealth??:   This is with the Muslim Ruler. (i.e. this is the manner the Muslim is expected to behave with the Muslim Ruler)

As for protecting one?s wealth (by way of resistance), this is (done) with other than the Muslim Ruler.  If an oppressor, or a thief, or a robber, or a highway robber wants to take your wealth, then you defend (i.e. defend yourself) even if you are killed.  If killed, you are shaheed.

As for the Muslim Ruler, you do not defend (i.e. you do not resist).  Even if your wealth is taken, you do not defend (i.e. you do not resist), rather exercise patience/refrain from such action due to the greater evil (i.e. the greater evil that may come about from that).

So there is differentiation between the Muslim Ruler and someone among the people (oppression received from someone among the people)

QUESTION:
What is your statement/word to the one who says, ??Indeed the hadith (i.e. the above hadith) nurtures/cultivates the Muslim upon weakness??

ANSWER:
The Hadith nurtures/cultivates the Muslim upon OBEDIENCE AND STRENGTH.  This is because obedience to the Muslim Ruler is STRENGTH AND NOT WEAKNESS.  He leaves this (i.e. this resistance against the Muslim Ruler) for the sake of a universal good and (for the sake of) uniting the word of the Muslims.

The PEOPLE OF DESIRES want to do away with the authentic proofs so that they can safeguard their views.  This is their intention.  They bring doubts in the aayaat and the ahaadith in order to safeguard their deviated/devious/perverted views.  There is no doubt / failure in noticing this.

Bismillaah was salaatu was salaamu 'alaa rasoolillaah, wa ba'ad;

Jama'atul Muslimeen in Slough/UK is not the same as the one in South Asia to the best of my knowledge, and Allaah knows best.

There are many takfeeri jamaa'aat by this name, and all of these jama'aat utilise the same hadith, as mentioned by my brother Abdulilah Lahmami below, (They get their name "Jama'at al Muslimeen" as they claim from the hadeeth of Hudayfah which is in Bukhaaree but this same hadeeth specifies to leave all the groups if there is no Jama'ah and no Imam so they have opposed this hadeeth by setting up another group and making one of its followers the imam.).

The Slough based group used to be very active, however, since the recent raids by the police on the extremists, their activities have gone under ground.

Amongst the Slough group there was an individual who fought in the Afghan war against the Soveits, and doesn't seem to be in UK anymore.  I wouldn't be surprised if he has formed some sort of alliance with those in South Asia to those in UK, as he had given bai'ah to Abu Eesa, and would be loyal to him to promote his imamate!  And Allaah knows best.
