02/04/2004 International conference on root causes of terrorism Riyadh, 2nd April 2004 The Riyadh-based Imam Mohammed bin Saud Islamic University has organized an international conference on Islam and the root causes of terrorism, which will be held on 20-22 April 2004.
A number of Muslim scholars, researchers and intellectuals from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other countries will participate in the three-day conference.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Director of Imam Mohammed bin Saud Islamic University Dr Mohammed bin Salim, said that participants of the conference will exchange views on the root causes and potential means of combating terrorism.
?Participants will clarify that Islam is a religion of moderation and tolerance, which eschews violence, extremism and terrorism. They will also challenge allegations about the stance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia vis-à-vis terrorism,? he said.
