Ya Ikhwa, it is well known that many of the major Scholars have already clarified (the meaning) and the permissiblity of using the term Salafee.
However, we continue to hear the people of Bid'ah and Hizbiyyah constantly making the claim that referring to oneself as a Salafee is an innovation. Therefore, they tell the people to avoid any books or lectures which cantain the word Salafee or anything which calls to Salafiyyah.
I recently heard (in a recorded lecture) Shaykh Muhammad Bazmool, may Allaah preserve him, refute the claim that calling oneself a Salafee is a Bid'ah. The Shaykh went on to say that the term Salafee is actually a very old word and that the people of the past used the word and called one another "Salafee".
Can someone please provide some references in which the people of the past used the term Salafee?
