Why some people are arrogant and don't accept the Truth even if it is clear - The scholars answer Translated by Abdulilah Lahmami
All praise is due to Allaah, I testify that none has the right to be worshipped except Allaah and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger sent to mankind (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam). I found these beautiful statements from various scholars regarding why someone would not humble himself to accept the truth even though it is clear as daylight.
Sheikhul Islam Muhammad Ibn Abdulwahhab rahimahullaah said ıIt is known that none accepts the truth except the one who sought it.ı [Majmuıat Tawheed, al-Risaala al-Owla p 65].
some people don't want to search for the truth for they will have to accept it in the end.
Sheikh al-Islaam ibn Taymiyyah rahimahullaah said: ıMost of the creation do not comply with the truth except by being compelled (to accept the truth with authority).ı [Darı Taıaaradh Al-ıAql wa an-Naql 7/174].
Sheikh al-Islaam ibn Taymiyyah rahimahullah said: ıDonıt you see the one who glorifies himself with falsehood and futility he wants to be victorious with regards everything he says even if it is a mistake.ı [Majmuı Fataawa 10/292]
Subhanallaah this is the reality of the arrogant, haughty person puffing himself with falsehood until the reckoning!
ıAl-ıAlaama ıAbdulrahman al-Muıalami rahimahullaah said: ıAs for the one who dislikes the truth and submits to his desires then he is deserving that Allaah increases his misguidance.ı [Tankeel 2/201]
And this is the end result of the arrogant proud person little does he know he moves further and further away from the guidance of Allaah due to his arrogance in not wanting to accept the truth.
ıAlaamatu Siddeeq Hasan Khan rahimahullaah said ıTruth is known from whomsoever has gathered five attributes, the greatest of them is sincerity, understanding, justice and fourthly is least found and most lost - striving to know the truth and striving much to call to it.ı [Qatfu Thamr fi Bayaan ıAqeedati Ahlil Athar p.175].
