Bismillaah Al-Hamdulillaah wa salatu wa salaamu 'ala rasulullaah Amma ba'd Wa 'alaykum u salam wa rahmatullaahi wa baarakatu, Junaid, The Principle with Ahlus-Sunnah wal Jama'ah - extracted from the Qur`an and Sunnah - is we do not take knowledge from anyone unless we have investigated and learned that he is upon the correct 'Aqidah and Manhaj. And Zakir Naik's 'Aqidah and Manhaj are sadly not correct; compounding that problem for the Ummah is that Naik spreads his deviant beliefs (beliefs that oppose what Allaah sent down to Prophet Muhammad, salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam). So Naik is astray leading others astray. Wallaahu musta'aan. If you were to read this refutation here [The Calamity Of Zakir Naik Upon The Ummah], you would in sha` Allaah learn that Zakir Naik's errors are dangerous, and everyone [you included] should place between himself and Naik's doubts an iron fort - not feeling secure. No way! May Allaah guide Naik, and protect the Ummah from his doubts. Ameen. [Obviously, your friends may have a loyalty to Naik and - as Shaikh 'Ubaid al-Jabiree (hafidhahullaah) mentioned - it is not with hikmah to start your call to people of bid'ah who are loyal to a deviant by refuting that deviant. So this is for you - not for them. Remember: Tawheed first.] As Shaikh Rabee ibn Hadee al-Madhkhalee (hafidhahullaah) said in his advice to the one who sits with the People of Desires: | quote: |
"Do not play with this bounty" |
|
and then rhetorically asked, | quote: |
"Who has granted you an impermeable protection?" |
|
Islam and the Sunnah are the bounties from Allaah, Who has warned us against risking the guidance He gave us, and has warned us that sitting with the people who deny verses of Allaah will result in us becoming like them. Refuge in Allaah is sought from sitting with people of desires! The following are links wherein are proofs for what was stated above as well as answers to some of your questions, in addition to knowledge that every Muslim should sincerely acquire: Prohibition of Sitting with, Listening to, Reading material of People of Innovation How to seek knowledge How to seek knowledge if you can't reach the people of Knowledge As for your non-practicing friends, then make du'aa for them. If they speak Urdu, then burn into a CD the following: Shaikh Ibn Baaz's "Sahih 'Aqeedah" and hand it to them. If they (also) speak English, then (print and) hand them these highly beneficial articles included here: Beneficial articles on true meaning of Laa illaaha il Allaah, and the danger of a wrong definition And, of course, don't give others da'wah and forget yourself. Read them first, if you haven't already. It is upon each of us to first seek authentic knowledge, and then implement that authentic knowledge in ourselves, and then call others to it upon baseerah (sure knowledge, insight), and then have patience upon the harms. The proof for the above is Surat al-'Asr: By Al-'Asr. (Al-'Asr 103:1) Verily! Man is in loss, (Al-'Asr 103:2) Except those who believe (in Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, and recommend one another to the truth (i.e. order one another to perform all kinds of good deeds (Al-Ma'ruf)which Allaah has ordained, and abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds (Al-Munkar)which Allaah has forbidden), and recommend one another to patience (for the sufferings, harms, and injuries which one may encounter in Allaah's Cause during preaching His religion of Islamic Monotheism or Jihad, etc.). (Al-'Asr 103:1-3) The scholars (rahimahumullaah) have taught us that:
| quote: |
1- Eeman is attained -> by seeking authentic Knowledge 2- Righteous actions is -> Implementing that knowledge 3- Enjoin one another to the truth is -> Calling to the truth 4- Enjoin one another to patience -> Having patience upon the harms |
|
And as for da'wah, it is obligatory to give da'wah the way the Prophets ('alaihimi salaam) gave da'wah. This here is highly beneficial, maa sha` Allaah in that regard: Methodology of the Prophets in Calling to Allaah May Allaah bless you, Junaid, give you hikma, and increase you in knowledge. |
