Did Kane kill Abel or Did Abel kill Kane?
Shaykh Yahya ibn Ali Al-Hajooree (may Allah preserve and protect him) was asked about the naming of Kane and Abel.
Questioner: Are Kane and Abel the correct names of Adam's children?
Shaykh Yahya answered: These names are well known and mentioned in the history books. Some history books even mention that Kane killed Abel. At any rate what is proven is Adam's first born killed his brother. The name of the killer and killed isn't mentioned. Allah says. ııııııı ıııııııııı ıııııı ııııııı ııııı ıııııııııı ıııı ıııııııı ıııııııııı ııııııııııı ıııı ııııııııııı ıııııı ııııııııııı ıııı ııııııı
And relate to them the story of the two sons of Adam with truth when they both offered an offering, but it was accepted from one of them and was not accepted from the other [ Ma'idah 27]
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, ııı ıııııııı ıııııı ııııııı ıııııı ııııı ııııı ııııı ııııı ııııııııı ıııııı ıııı ııııııı ı ıııııııı ııııııı ıııı ııııı ııııııııı "No human being is killed unjustly, but a part of responsibility for the crime is laid on the first son of Adam who invented the tradition of killing (murdering) on the earthı [ Bukhari 3335 and Muslim 1677]
In summary the only texts I have seen that mentioned the killer and killed were found in the narrations of the Israelites. I haven't seen anything in the Quran or Sunnah that mention the name of the killer and the killed.
