The Aayaat and the authentic ahaadeeth prove and show us the closeness of the Day of Judgment.
Allaah the Most High says:
{اقْتَرَبَ لِلنَّاسِ حِسَابُهُمْ وَهُمْ فِي غَفْلَةٍ مَّعْرِضُونَ} The reckoning for mankind draws near for them, while they turn away and are in heedlessness
And He the Most High says:
{وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّ السَّاعَةَ تَكُونُ قَرِيبًا} What do you know? It may be that the hour is near
And He the Most High says:
{إِنَّهُمْ يَرَوْنَهُ بَعِيدًا وَنَرَاهُ قَرِيبًا} They see it (the day of judgment) as something that is far away, but We see it as something near
And He the Most High says:
{اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ} The hour has drawn near and the moon has been split (when the people of Makkah requested from prophet to show them a miracle so he showed them the splitting of the moon)
There are other than these Aayaat that prove that the hour is close and that the end of this life and the passing over to the next life is near. If it is good then it?s good, and if bad (for the evil one) then bad.
The prophet (sallalallaahu alaihi wa sallam) Said: I have been sent along with the hour like these two. And he held up two fingers extending them. (al Bukhaari)
From Ibn Umar radiyallaahu anhumaa said: We was sitting with the prophet (sallalallaahu alaihi wa sallam) while the sun was at the level of Qa?ee?qa?aan (which is a mountain in the south of Makkah about 12 miles) after Asr and the prophet (sallalallaahu alaihi wa sallam) said: What is left from your lives in comparison to those who have passed away is like what is left from this day and what has passed away of it. (Ahmad)
This shows us that what is left from the time that has passed is only a little, but nobody knows the how long the time has passed us is except Allaah.
There is no narration that is more clear than the narration of the prophet (sallalallaahu alaihi wa sallam) when he said: I have been sent along with the hour and it is almost proceeding me.
This shows us the extreme closeness of the hour as it was sent along with the prophet (sallalallaahu alaihi wa sallam) so much that he feared it overtaking him!!!
